Jennifer Wu, a professional photographer since 1992, is a landscape and night photographer. She received a BA in Photography from California State University, Sacramento, where she previously taught photography courses. Jennifer was named by Canon USA to the elite group photographers, The Explorers of Light. A group comprised of the top 62 professional photographers in the country. She is honored to be a part of this program.
Her images, featured in numerous magazines and books, have won a wide variety of prestigious awards. Whenever she is not on nature expeditions at some of the most beautiful locations in the world, she exhibits her images at nationally recognized galleries and art shows. She teaches photography workshops and courses for Sierra Club, Light Photographic Workshops, BetterPhoto, Canon U.S.A., and aFilm International Film Workshops Barcelona, Spain.
Three Lectures by Jennifer Wu will be offered at the San Diego Zoo (Canon Tent):
1. Lecture title: Nature's Elusive Beauty - Composition for Nature and Landscape Photography (Time: 2:00pm)
This inspiring and entertaining presentation is a must see for any one interested in nature and landscape photography. Jennifer will tell you how she scouts for beautiful locations and share her techniques to get those great shots.
Jennifer will teach you the five elements of photographic composition. Learn tips for selecting specific lenses and how each lens makes visual impact. Discover how creating depth in an image and isolating the subject will make a striking image. Jennifer will take you on a visual journey through the natural world and show you how to create your own dynamic images.
2. Lecture title: Photographing Animals (Time: 3:30pm)
Learn about photographing animals and how to get some great shots! Learn the basics of composition to take a portrait of an animal. Find out what is needed for wildlife photography and equipment choices. Find out how to capture the action of a moving animal. This is a fun show that you will surely enjoy.
3. Lecture title: Beautiful Animal Photography in Zoos and Captivity (Time: 5:00pm)
While it is fun to photograph an animal in the wild they can be hard to find or not in an area that looks good for photography. Photographing captive animals allows you to get some great shots not possible in the wild. Learn about how to best photograph large cats and other animals so they look like they are in a natural environment. In addition, Jennifer will discuss close up photography with little critters and butterflies.
