6:02 FORECAST ON THE 2'S-WX WALL

Today's Weather Story

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

"More wet weather Tuesday"

After seeing lots of rain over Southwest Florida yesterday, it looks like today is going to be yet another wetter than normal day for us with rain chances around 60%.

Showers will get going as soon as this morning for some of our coastal communities but will stay fairly isolated. As the morning evolves, however, plentiful moisture and a little daytime heating will lead to the development of additional showers along with a few storms, most of which will affect areas close to the coast and Highway 41.

Showers will continue to develop and expand in coverage through the midday and early afternoon hours, mostly targeting the urban corridor of Charlotte, Lee, and Collier County.

By the mid afternoon, the rain will begin to favor inland areas as the sea breeze advances farther east. While the door will still be wide open for isolated downpours later in the afternoon for urban Southwest Florida, the shower activity will be more widespread over the interior.

Like yesterday, the rain could be very heavy at times, and we'll also see the potential for lots of lightning and gusty winds in some of the stronger cells.

Outside of the rain, most of us will notice more clouds than sun, but some sunnier spells will be possible through the day as well.

Our temperatures will stay in the 70s and 80s through the morning, and most of us won't get beyond 90 degrees.

While much of the rain will diminish by sunset, a few stragglers will linger through the first part of the night. Otherwise, our sky will stay mostly to partly cloudy with temperatures cooling into the mid 70s.

Rain chances will start to take a dip Wednesday as the rain becomes more isolated and focused deeper inland.

By Thursday, our rain chances will fall even more as a much drier air mass settles over Southwest Florida. The result will be more sun along with some very toasty temperatures. Afternoon high temperatures will likely peak in the mid to upper 90s, and our "feels like" temperature will be over 100 degrees.

It still look like the heat will back off a little by the upcoming weekend as we get into a more typical weather pattern for July; afternoon temperatures will range from the low to mid 90s, and rain chances will bump up to near 40%. Return to index of stories...

MOLESTATION AND RACISM.

NEW ALLEGATIONS IN THE CASE AGAINST GEORGE ZIMMERMAN THIS MORNING.

A WOMAN IDENTIFIED AS "WITNESS NINE" SAYS SHE'S GEORGE ZIMMERMAN'S COUSIN AND THAT SHE WAS SEXUALLY MOLESTED BY GEORGE STARTING AT AGE SIX.

HERE'S A PORTION OF THE NEWLY RELEASED AUDIO RECORDINGS.

He's about almost two years older than I am. He would reach under the blankets and try to do things. And I would try to push him off but he was bigger and stronger and older. It was in front of everybody. And I don't know how I didn't say anything but I just didn't know any better.

SHE ALSO CLAIMS ZIMMERMAN IS A RACIST--

SAYING THAT ZIMMERMAN AND HIS MOTHER QUOTE "SAY A LOT OF BAD THINGS ABOUT BLACK PEOPLE." Return to index of stories...

I was afraid that he may have done something because the kid was black. Because growing up they've always -- him and his family have always made statements that they don't like black people if they don't act like white people

ALONG WITH THE RECORDINGS-- ANOTHER 140 JAIL HOUSE PHONE CALLS WERE RELEASED.

ZIMMERMAN'S ATTORNEY MARK O' MARA TRIED TO FILE A MOTION TO BLOCK THE STATEMENTS FROM WITNESS NINE, BUT IT WAS NOT FILED IN TIME. Return to index of stories...

PIERS MORGAN ZIMMERMAN ATTORNEY-TRX-SOT-SS

ZIMMERMAN'S ATTORNEY IS SPEAKING OUT ON THOSE ALLEGATIONS THIS MORNING--

HERE'S A FIRST LISTEN OF THE INTERVIEW MARK O' MARA HAD WITH CNN'S PIERS MORGAN LATE LAST NIGHT.

SAYING THE ACCUSATIONS ARE BOTH IRRELEVANT AND IN-ADMISSIBLE.

" The frustration I have is these allegations which George contends are untrue. Now we need to spend our resources and time rebutting them. And actually to put it in a difficult if not delicate position of deciding how much we attack the source of these -- this story, or just leave it be and move on to what really counts."

ZIMMERMAN IS CHARGED WITH SECOND-DEGREE MURDER IN THE SHOOTING DEATH OF TRAYVON MARTIN IN FLORIDA BACK IN FEBRUARY.
