Checking bags. guarding athletes. now being done by military and police officers, scrambled from around the UK.
Because the security company G4S-- the world's 3rd largest private employer-- just figured out, it cannot meet its target!
Of the 10 thousand 400 guards G4S agreed to provide-- it admits having only about half that number ready.
British lawmakers let the CEO have it.
"A fiasco and a shambles."
"Inexcusable."
"It's a humiliating shambles, isn't it?"
"It's not where we want to be, that is certain."
CEO Nick Buckles says he only learned July 3rd -- that G4S will fall well short.
In June, an internal G4S memo talked about its system called "Just in Time" phasing. Saying "It would have been an advantage to have everyone trained months in advance, but that was neither practical nor cost effective."
Many people who wanted to work at the Olympics, have complained they went through interviews and training, then didn't hear back-- for months.
Olympic organizers emphasize their confidence.
"This has not, nor will it, impact on the safety and security of these games."
A bigger question how many G4S guards will show up at all? Will more military be needed.
"You cannot guarantee how many will turn up on the day?? / You can't be sure, can you."
"No."
"Keep in mind there is still an additional more than 10-thousand military and security personnel already lined up to guard the games. Back to you."

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
Showers and storms return to Southwest Florida today, but our rain chances will be cut in half with the showers expected to cover much less ground. This is the beginning of a quieter and sunnier period we expect to last through Friday.
We'll start the morning with a quiet radar along with a nice supply of sunshine, but with an onshore flow still in place, isolated rain could still develop along our coast after sunrise. By the mid to late morning, we'll see the potential for more isolated pockets of rain to pop up along the urban corridor , but then the onshore flow will carry most of the rain and storms deeper inland as we progress through the afternoon. This means the prime time for rain for most of us will come between 11am and 3pm, and then the bulk of the rain will be east of I-75 later in the afternoon.
Cloud cover also won't be as abundant as in previous days, allowing temperatures to warm back to the low 90s.
Tonight, we'll stay mainly dry with a partly cloudy to mostly clear sky with temperatures cooling to the middle 70s through the late night hours.
On Thursday and Friday, a dome of dry, stable air will settle over Southwest Florida, bringing us hot and sunny weather with much lower rain chances. The heat will be the main focus these days with highs expected to get into the mid to upper 90s, and the heat index will be over 100 degrees.
Moisture will build back into Southwest Florida by the weekend, sending our rain chances back to normal.

BEEF PRICES WILL RISE AT LEAST 5 PERCENT.
AND ANYTHING MADE FROM CORN AND SOYBEANS WILL SPIKE 10 PERCENT, LIKELY MORE.

--REPORTER PKG-AS FOLLOWS --
WHEN YOU SEE YOURSELF ON A KISS CAM, ESPECIALLY IF YOU'RE FAMOUS, LIKE TOM HANKS, YOU BETTER PUCKER UP OR YOU'LL GET BOOED. SOMETHING PRESIDENT OBAMA LEARNED THE HARD WAY WHEN HE AND THE FIRST LADY KISSED THEIR FIRST CHANCE GOODBYE BY NOT KISSING.
BUT IN THE SECOND HALF THEY GOT A SECOND CHANCE.
Now go! Yayyyyy!
WAIT A MINUTE. THERE ARE NO DO-OVERS ON THE KISS CAMERA. THAT'S NOT ALLOWED.

ON NEW YORK'S WPIX, THEY MICRO ANALYZED THE BODY LANGUAGE.
Look at how they hold each other. When they look at each other they gaze before they kiss which is really intimacy. look she holds his fingers.
ONE OF THE FEW PEOPLE NOT GOING GA GA WAS THE UNSMILING SECRET SERVICE AGENT WATCHING THE PRESIDENT'S BACK. NOW MITT ROMNEY'S WIFE KNOWS HOW TO CUDDLE UP AGAINST HER HUSBAND AND WARM UP BOTH HIM AND HIS IMAGE. BUT IT'S TOUGH TO COMPETE WITH THE LOVEY DOVEY OBAMAS.
THAT'S WHY WHAT ONE WEBSITE CALLED THE KISS CAM WHIFF WAS SO SURPRISING. MICHELLE OBAMA RESISTS BARACK'S ADVANCES TO WHICH THE WHITE HOUSE REPLIED REPORTS THE PRESIDENT WAS REBUFFED ARE FALSE. A SPOKESMAN SAYS THE FIRST COUPLE DIDN'T REALIZE THE SCREEN THEY WERE ON WAS THE KISS CAM.
BOOOO!
THEY DIDN'T REALIZE TILL HALF-TIME WHEN THEIR DAUGHTERS WHO ARRIVED LATE ASKED WHY THEY HADN'T KISSED. THE PRESS POOL HAD ALREADY BEEN TAKEN OUT OF THE ARENA TO WAIT FOR THE PRESIDENT TO LEAVE.
And then the doors to the van opened and they said is anybody interested in going back in and watching the game.
THE WHITE HOUSE SAYS THE PRESS POOL WAS NOT BROUGHT BACK IN TO RECORD THE SECOND CHANCE AT THE KISS CAM, BUT THE POOL SURE DID RETURN CONVENIENTLY IN TIME.
LOVE MAY NOT LAST FOREVER, BUT KISSING ON CAMERA DOES. WE'RE STILL DRAGGING OUT THAT OLD AL AND TIPPER GORE LIPLOCK.

A SKYWEST PILOT'S PLANS TO STEAL A PLANE TUESDAY AT THE ST. GEORGE MUNICIPAL AIRPORT WERE THWARTED.
40-YEAR OLD BRIAN JOSEPH HEDGLIN HAD PARKED HIS MOTORCYCLE, JUMPED THE FENCE TO THE AIRPORT, GAINED ACCESS TO A SKYWEST JET AND STARTED IT'S ENGINES.
ACCORDING TO OFFICIALS, HE BACKED THE PLANE UP, THEN MOVED IT FORWARD CLIPPING THE TERMINAL.
HE WAS UNABLE TO GET THE PLANE AIRBORNE AND INSTEAD CRASHED INTO SEVERAL EMPTY CARS IN THE PARKING LOT.
A POLICE OFFICER PATROLLING THE AREA NOTICED THE MOTORCYCLE WITH IT'S ENGINE STILL WARM AND SHORTLY THEREAFTER, DISCOVERED THE PLANE.
"He immediately notified skywest that they had a plane in the parking lot with the engines running. They had a person here that was able to come out, shut the plane down."
OFFICERS ARRIVED ON SCENE, ENTERED THE PLANE AND FOUND HEDGLIN DEAD FROM A SELF-INFLICTED GUN SHOT WOUND.
OFFICIALS IN ST. GEORGE LATER CONFIRMED THAT THE MOTORCYCLE DID BELONG TO HEDGLIN AND THAT HE WAS WANTED IN COLORADO SPRINGS IN CONNECTION WITH THE DEATH OF HIS GIRLFRIEND.
"We took every precaution we thought we needed to take based on believing that he was the suspect in our murder."

"I was, like, leaning over the sink, and I grab my towel. And there was just this ginormous spider in my towel that I was about to put on my face."
HER EIGHT-LEGGED FRIENDS STARTED SHOWING UP EVERY DAY. THE PLACE WAS INFECTED. SHE SUSPECTED IT WAS THE BROWN
RECLUSE SPIDER, THE POISONOUS KIND THAT LIKE TO HIDE IN YOUR SHEETS, CLOTHES AND SHOES. SHE NOTIFIED THE
MANAGEMENT AT MISSION BRENTWOOD APARTMENTS.
"I asked as soon as I found out they were poisonous spiders if I could switch apartments, and they told me, 'No, let us try to take care of it.'"
A PEST CONTROL COMPANY CONFIRMED KELLY'S FEAR AND TOLD HER SHE'D HAVE TO LEAVE SO THEY COULD DUST.
"And I had to leave my apartment for, like, five days, I think. And I came back and. they were still everywhere."
"Artrip says pest control's been here more than a few times, but the problem hasn't been taken care of. These are the spiders she's

DR. FRANK HALE SAYS GETTING RID OF THEM CAN TAKE UP TO A YEAR. IF YOU LIVE IN AN APARTMENT, MOVING TO ANOTHER
UNIT IN THE SAME BUILDING MAY NOT SOLVE THE ISSUE.

HEY FACEBOOK USERS-- ANNOYED BY ADVERTISEMENTS? TIRED OF TIMELINE?
WELL IT TURNS OUT-- YOU'RE NOT ALONE.
ACCORDING TO THE AMERICAN CONSUMER SATISFACTION INDEX -- FACEBOOK SAW A NEARLY 8-PERCENT DROP IN USER SATISFACTION THIS YEAR.
THAT'S THE BIGGEST DROP OF ANY SOCIAL MEDIA OUTLET SURVEYED-- AND IT SETS A RECORD LOW SCORE FOR THE CATEGORY.
FACEBOOK USERS ARE UNHAPPY WITH CHANGES TO THE USER INTERFACE-- LIKE THE ADDITION OF TIMELINE.
THEY ALSO COMPLAIN ABOUT PRIVACY ISSUES AND ADVERTISEMENTS.
TWITTER AND LINKED-IN ALSO DISAPPOINTED USERS-- DEBUTING ON THE LIST WITH CUSTOMER BELOW AVERAGE SATISFACTION SCORES.
MEANWHILE-- RIVAL GOOGLE PLUS LED THE PACK, TYING WITH WIKIPEDIA FOR THE NUMBER ONE SPOT.
IN ITS FIRST YEAR ON THE LIST-- THE SOCIAL MEDIA SITE SCORED A 78-PERCENT CUSTOMER SATISFACTION RATE.
GOOGLE PLUS-- LIKE FACEBOOK-- AIMS TO CONNECT USERS THROUGH PICTURES AND POSTS.
IT ALSO LINKS SOCIAL MEDIA CONTENT TO OTHER GOOGLE APPLICATIONS-- LIKE SEARCH AND G-MAIL.
USERS ARE PLEASED WITH ITS MOBILE APP-- AND THE LACK OF ADS.
BUT IT'S NOT ALL BAD NEWS FOR FACEBOOK.
GOOGLE PLUS USERS MAY BE HAPPIER-- BUT THEY ARE STILL FAR OUTNUMBERED BY FACEBOOK'S MORE THAN 900 MILLION USERS.
I'M ALISON KOSIK IN NEW YORK.

WE ARE JUST NINE DAYS AWAY FROM THE START TO THE SUMMER OLYMPICS.
AND A MAJOR PRIORITY IN LONDON RIGHT NOW -- SECURITY.
"G-FOUR-S" IS ONE OF THE WORLD'S LARGEST SECURITY COMPANIES. AND IT SAYS IT ONLY HAS ABOUT HALF OF THE GUARDS IT NEEDS FOR THE BIG GAMES.
THAT HAS THE MILITARY, AND POLICE OFFICERS SCRAMBLING AND STEPPING IN.
ORGANIZERS WITH THE OLYMPICS THOUGH SAY THEY'RE CONFIDENT SAFETY AND SECURITY AT THE GAMES WILL NOT BE IMPACTED.

TALKING OLYMPICS THIS AFTERNOON,
JUST NINE DAYS UNTIL OPENING CEREMONIES IN LONDON!
AND FOR THE FIRST TIME IN TWELVE YEARS, THE U-S DIVE TEAM HAS A GOOD CHANCE TO BRING HOME A MEDAL.
IT'S HEADED BY THE DIVING COACH FROM STANFORD UNIVERSITY.
COLIN RESCH CATCHES UP WITH THE TEAM.

RICK SCHAVONE KNOWS TALENT WHEN HE SEES IT. HE'S BEEN THE HEAD DIVING COACH AT STANFORD THE PAST 34 YEARS. BUT FOR ALL OF HIS ACCOMPLISHMENTS ON THE FARM, HE'S NEVER BEEN PART OF AN OLYMPIC GAMES, UNTIL NOW.
I wanted to develop the finest full program in the United States. So, even then, 34 years ago, now did I know that meant the Olympics? I don't even know if I knew that meant the Olympics. I just knew I wanted to have a great club team, and a great college team.
TIMING WAS THE KEY TO SCHAVONE'S TICKET TO LONDON. AT THE U.S. DIVING TRIALS KRISTIAN IPSEN, A FRESHMAN FROM DE LA SALLE QUALIFIED IN THE 3-METER SYNCHRO SPRINGBOARD WHILE 2007 NCAA CHAMPION CASSIDY KRUG WON THE 3-METER SPRINGBOARD TITLE. BOTH ARE CONSIDERED SERIOUS MEDAL CONTENDERS.
Cassidy Krug could be the greatest woman springboard diver of all-time, I mean her scores would suggest she is.
Both Cassidy and I have competed at a lot of world meets at a really high level and it's been amazing but this is just. the Olympics are like no other meet.
KRUG'S ROUTE TO LONDON HAS BEEN A CIRCUITOUS ONE. AFTER 2008 SHE QUIT DIVING, STARTED WORKING, EXPERIENCED LIFE OUTSIDE THE SPORT AND THEN SOMEWHERE IN THE COURSE OF 9 TO 10 MONTHS, THE PASSION RETURNED.
I think probably always in the back of my mind there was this idea it might not be a real retirement. It's amazing and it's a little bit surreal. On one hand it's this dream I've had since I was 3 and on the other hand I'm living it right now.
The practice and the dreams didn't stop by making it out of the trials. We now go to the games also with some goals and dreams.
