THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
Rain will be a good bet this Sunday afternoon as showers and storms become quite numerous through the second half of the day.
After a quiet and warm morning featuring a nice supply of sunshine, rain will start developing by the early afternoon. Between 3-5 p.m., the showers and storms will then spread out and expand in coverage, putting our rain chances near 60% for the day.
Like most summer afternoons, a few storms will be capable of heavy rain, intense lightning, and gusty winds. Storm movement will primarily be from the southeast to the northwest.
Temperatures should be a few notches lower today, so instead of spending the afternoon in the mid 90s, we'll likely see our temperatures stop climbing in the low 90s due to the extra rain and clouds.
Boaters and beach goers: before the storms make for some rough conditions this afternoon, look for seas and open waters to range from 2-3 feet. Our winds out of the east from 10-15 knots, and inland waters will be at a moderate chop.
Most of the rain and storms will fade by sunset tonight, leaving us with a partly cloud sky and a very humid air mass.
We'll continue to see higher than normal rain chances Monday along with more cloudiness and highs in the upper 80s and lower 90s. Our rain chances on Monday will be near 60%.
By Tuesday, our rain chances will be on the downward trend as dry, stable air starts to settle over Southwest Florida.
From Wednesday through Friday, our rain chances will be cut down to 20%, leaving us with sunny skies and highs back in the mid 90s.

HERE'S THE LATEST THIS MORNING ON THE MASSACRE IN COLORADO-
TODAY, PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA IS HEADING TO AURORA.
THERE, HE'S EXPECTED TO MEET WITH THE VICTIMS AND THEIR FAMILIES OF FRIDAY'S MASS SHOOTING.
MEANWHILE, MANY OF THE RESIDENTS LIVING NEAR THE ALLEGED GUNMAN'S APARTMENT ARE RETURNING HOME AFTER AUTHORITIES SAY THE HAZARDS JAMES HOLMES LEFT BEHIND HAVE BEEN ELIMINATED.
SANDRA ENDO REPORTS FROM AURORA, COLORADO.
Return to index of stories...
THE EXPLOSIVES FOUND INSIDE JAMES HOLMES' APARTMENT WERE REMOVED SATURDAY AND TAKEN TO AN UNDISCLOSED LOCATION FOR DETONATION.
AUTHORITIES SAY HOLMES BOOBY TRAPPED THE SPACE BEFORE HE WENT ON A SHOOTING RAMPAGE FRIDAY AT A SHOWING OF "THE DARK KNIGHT RISES".
12 PEOPLE ARE DEAD, NEARLY 60 MORE RECOVERING FROM INJURIES.
THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY IS IN MOURNING.
I've lived in Colorado my entire life, nearly 34 years just a mile down the road and it's really sad when it hits this close to home.
THE CORONER'S OFFICE RELEASED A COMPLETE LIST OF THE DEAD SATURDAY.THE YOUNGEST WAS JUST SIX YEARS OLD.
MANY OF THE VICTIMS REMAIN HOSPITALIZED.
ONE WOMAN SAYS THE HORROR SHE SAW WAS WORSE THAN A WAR ZONE.
"If you sign up for the military you signed up for it, you signed on knowing you were possibly risking your life. These people were going to a movie to enjoy themselves whether it was with their family or friends. They didn't sign up to be shot."
SOME HAVE SERIOUS INJURIES, BUT KNOW THEIR FATES COULD HAVE BEEN DIFFERENT.
The wound is somewhere around here. And, you know, just a few millimeters there and centimeters in.I don't think I would have left the theater.
AS HOLMES PREPARES FOR HIS FIRST COURT APPEARANCE MONDAY MORNING, THE SURVIVORS OF THE ATTACK FOR WHICH HE'S BLAMED ARE TRYING TO MOVE FORWARD.
Can you forgive him?
He killed somebody I cared about and killed a heck of a lot of my friends. So right now, now. Down the road, yeah.

"Oh my God!"
COMMERCIAL PILOT RYAN GUCWA CAPTURED THE MOMENT ON HIS I-PHONE.
"Oh my God!"
HE COULD NOT BELIEVE WHAT HE WAS SEEING TOUCH DOWN AT THIS TINY ISLAND AIRPORT.
"MacDill's air strip is 11,000 foot long. This one's only 3,400 so it's almost triple the length over there."
MACDILL AIR FORCE BASE IS WHERE THE C-17 WAS SUPPOSED TO LAND.
INSTEAD IT CAME TO A SCREECHING HALT ON DAVIS ISLAND'S AIRPORT FOUR MILES AWAY.
"It was sound deafening and there was rubber coming from the tires and he stopped just about 10 feet short of the end of the runway.
MOST OF THE PLANES THAT TAKE OFF FROM THIS AIRPORT ARE ABOUT THE SIZE OF THOSE S-U-V'S.
SO IN COMPARISON, YOU CAN SEE WHY THIS BEAST IS SO OUT OF PLACE OUT THERE.
THE AIR FORCE WOULD NOT CONFIRM IF IT WAS PILOT ERROR OR NOT.
"I will give them credit that the runways are lined up all the way from here all the way over to MacDill. It's pretty much one straight line."
BUT WORD SPREAD A FLIGHT CREW WAS GOING TO TRY AND TAKE OFF FROM THIS SPOT.
"I think we're all curious whether it's going to take off or go off the end of the island."
AND AS NIGHT FELL ON TAMPA. DOZENS LINED UP TO WATCH AND SEE HOW THIS WOULD GO.
AS NAIL-BITING AS THE LANDING HAD BEEN. THE TAKE-OFF LOOKED MUCH DIFFERENT.
WITH ENGINES BLAZING. THE MIGHTY AIRCRAFT LEFT THE SPOT WHERE THE AIR CREW MISTAKENLY WOUND UP IN THE FIRST PLACE.

18 YEARS OF TRAINING---TWO KNEE SURGERIES--AND ONE SHOT AT THE GOLD.
AN AMERICAN HEADING TO THE OLMPICS IN LONDON CLINCHED THE WILD CARD SPOT FOR A SPORT THAT'S NOT TOO POPULAR IN THE UNITED STATES.
AS SANDRA ENDO SHOWS US, SHE'S REPRESENTING THE U-S IN A SPORT THE COUNTRY HASN'T QUALIFIED IN SINCE 2004.

SHE'S NOT JUST A DANCER, OR AN ACROBAT.
22-YEAR-OLD JULIE ZETLIN, IS A FIRST TIME OLYMPIAN.
"When I was little I would tell people I'm a rhythmic gymnast and they would have no idea whatsoever what it was and say, wait you run around with a streamer? No, no, no, no, that's not the case."
IT'S A TYPE OF GYMNASTICS THAT'S NOT AS CELEBRATED IN THE UNITED STATES.
USING FOUR KINDS OF EQUIPMENT, THE RIBBON, BALL, HOOP, AND CLUBS.
"We have clubs, which pretty much look like two batons, mine are very eye catching because they're hot pink."
"Let me feel how heavy."
"Not too heavy."
"Oh they have some weight."
"Yeah."
AFTER 18 YEARS OF TRAINING, IN SEPTEMBER, ZETLIN EARNED A WILD CARD SPOT TO COMPETE THIS SUMMER IN LONDON.
THE LAST TIME A U.S. RHYTHMIC GYMNAST QUALIFIED FOR THE GAMES WAS BACK IN 2004.
"You must have the weight of the world on you, given the fact that you are the only U.S. rhythmic gymnast going to the Olympics."
"You know, I don't even really think of that. My goal was not just to make it for myself and accomplish my dream but also make a step forward for the rhythmic program, for the US rhythmic program because we couldn't afford to have another gap cycle. Our sport would have gone so downhill and recognition of it would have gone so downhill."
AFTER OVERCOMING TWO KNEE SURGERIES AND PUTTING OFF COLLEGE LONG ENOUGH, ZETLIN SAYS THIS WILL BE HER FIRST AND ONLY SHOT ON THE OLYMPIC STAGE.
SHE AND HER COACH RECOGNIZE THE FIELD IS TOUGH AND THE CHANCE TO MEDAL PRETTY SLIM, BUT THEY SAY ZETLIN HAS ELEVATED RHYTHMIC GYMNASTICS IN AMERICA.
"It's very important to say we are an Olympic sport and we have an Olympian in our program, I think it's going to bring more kids to our program."

HE NEVER ASKED THEM TO PASS HIM A BEER.BUT THAT DIDN'T STOP BASKETBALL FANS FROM REACHING OUT OF THEIR SPEEDING S-U-V AND HANDING A CAN OF BREW TO THE NEWEST LOS ANGELES LAKER.
JEANNE MOOS SPILLS THE STORY.
Return to index of stories...
JUST BECAUSE IT'S CALLED THE PASSING LANE, DOESN'T MEAN SOMEONE SHOULD PASS YOU A BEER. BUT THAT'S JUST WHAT AN SUV FULL OF LOS ANGELES LAKERS FANS DID WHEN THEY SPOTTED THE LAKERS NEWEST STAR, STEVE NASH, IN A TAXI ON FREEWAY 110.
"Nash! Steve Nash! Yeah!"
NOW THE GUY SHOOTING THIS IS NONE OTHER THAN POINT GUARD STEVE NASH HIMSELF. AND WHEN THEY FINALLY COMPLETED THE HAND OFF.
NASH JUST SWUNG THE CAMERA AROUND AND ADDED A COMMENT.
"Fans have been pretty good so far."
NASH LATER TWEETED OUT THE VIDEO, SAYING THANKS FOR THE WARM WELCOME, THOUGH WE'RE HOPING THE CAN OF KEYSTONE LIGHT WAS COLD. THE ROWDY FANS OPENED THEIR OWN TWITTER ACCOUNT CALLING THEMSELVES 'LA BEER BROS.' AND THEY POSTED VIDEO OF THE VIEW FROM THEIR SUV AND THE CELEBRATION FOLLOWING THE HAND-OFF.
THE LA BEER BROS TWEETED THAT THEY WERE 'ON THE WAY TO THE DODGERS GAME, GUY IN BACK SAYS 'THAT'S STEVE NASH".SLOWED DOWN TO CHECK.SURE ENOUGH!'
"ONE GUY POSTED ON YOUTUBE THAT THE VIDEO WOULD BE A GREAT COMMERCIAL.'KEYSTONE LIGHT, GOOD ENOUGH TO MAKE STEVE NASH OPEN HIS WINDOW.'"
BUT THE MAKERS OF KEYSTONE LIGHT SEEMED TO DISTANCE THEMSELVES, TELLING CNN WE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS VIDEO. SOME ONLINE DISTANCED THEMSELVES FROM KEYSTONE LIGHT, NOT EXACTLY A PREMIUM BEER. NASH SHOULD HAVE REALIZED IT WAS A KEYSTONE AND THROWN IT BACK POSTED ONE. OF COURSE THERE COULD HAVE BEEN MORE RAZZLE DAZZLE.
"Hey, pass me a beer."
LIKE THE TWO GUYS WHO MADE AN ENTERTAINING VIDEO CATAPULTING A BEER, KICKING A BEER, SKATEBOARDING A BEER, AND BOUNCING ONE. BUT MERELY PASSING A BEER BETWEEN CARS WHIZZING ALONG THE FREEWAY IS ALREADY UNSAFE AND ILLEGAL. THOUGH SO FAR, THERE HAVE BEEN NO CHARGES.
"WE HAVEN'T SEEN A PRODUCT HAND-OFF LIKE THIS.SINCE GREY POUPON."
"Pardon me, would you have any Grey Poupon?"
"But of course."
THESE TWO WOULD HAVE POUPONED THEIR PANTS IF THEY DID THIS AT, SAY, 60 MILES AN HOUR.
JEANNE MOOS, CNN.
