Today's Weather Story
THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
It looks like another day of rain and storms is in the works for Southwest Florida as the atmosphere remains overloaded with tropical moisture.
We'll start the day under a partly cloudy sky along with some very mild temperatures in the upper 70s and lower 80s. Also, look for some pockets of isolated, spotty rain moving from south to north.
By the late morning hours through the early afternoon, we'll see more rain develop as the atmosphere starts to heat up. Keep in mind that some of the rain could be quite heavy, and we'll also see the potential for some very intense lightning and gusty winds.
It appears the best chance of rain for most of us will be from the mid morning through the mid afternoon.
Tonight will be pretty quiet in terms of our rain chances. Otherwise, our sky will stay partly cloudy, and temperatures will only cool to the mid to upper 70s.
On Tuesday we may start out with some morning coastal showers and then some rain and storms by the late afternoon. Rain chances will also be a few notches lower Tuesday, so the rain won't be nearly as widespread.
The tropical moisture we'll have had for a few days will head for the exit gates Wednesday as a layer of dry, stable air settles over Southwest Florida, reducing our rain chances and bringing some pretty toasty temperatures.
For the first part of the week , temperatures will range from the upper 80s and lower 90s, but as soon as the drier air arrives, our afternoon highs will be a few degrees above average with most spots seeing mid to upper 90s. The heat index will be in the 100-105 range.
Our rain chances look to stay fairly low through the upcoming weekend.

Full Forecast
