SHOOTING IN COLORADO.
BUT YESTERDAY - THE TEMPORARY TRUCE WAS OVER.
MITT ROMNEY KICKED IT OFF, SLAMMING PRESIDENT OBAMA AT A ROUNDTABLE WITH
BUSINESS LEADERS.
Romney SOT
i hear time and again, people say as you did, they think that business is an
enemy
ROMNEY CONTINUED TO TRY TO MAKE HAY OF THE PRESIDENT'S STATEMENT EARLIER
THIS MONTH THAT SMALL BUSINESSES OWNERS RELY ON GOVERNMENT SUPPORT.
Obama SOT -
If you've got a business. you didn't build that. Somebody else made that
happen.
Romney SOT
i happen to believe that for people who have spent their entire career
working in government, they sometimes don"t appreciate how hard it is to
start a business, grow a business, maintain a business.
FOR THE FIRST TIME, THE PRESIDENT FIRED BACK:
Obama SOT
Earlier today Gov. Romney was at it again, twisting my words that I don't
support small businesses.
MR OBAMA SAID HE AND ROMNEY HAVE FUNDAMENTAL DISAGREEMENTS ABOUT HOW TO
BUILD AN ECONOMY WITH EQUAL OPPORTUNITY.
Obama SOT
We did not build this country from the top down. We built this country
together -- individual entrepreneurs taking advantage of opportunities and
putting their sweat and tears into it,

FROM THE MOMENT ONLINE RETAILING TOOK OFF IN THE MID-1990'S. STATES HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT UNCOLLECTED SALES TAXES.
.THAT HAVE SINCE GROWN DRAMATICALLY.
Tennessee : - : 12 45 34
"The current estimate of sales tax that goes uncollected each year in the U.S. is more than $20 billion!"
TAX MONEY THAT THE STATES SAY THEY DESPERATELY NEED RIGHT NOW.WITH REVENUE FROM EVERYTHING ELSE DROPPING.
BRICK AND MORTAR RETAILERS COMPLAIN, TOO. AND SAY IT'S AN UNFAIR ADVANTAGE FOR ONLINE RETAILERS. WHO ARE ALREADY ON TOP.
California : - 12 29 31
"And this is the key -- 31 it will overtake, 35 overtake the sales at brick and mortar stores by the year 2020."
121723 00 00 00
"Tax-free sales on inter--on the internet may be coming to an end."
IT'S WHY CONGRESS SEEMS AS CLOSE AS EVER TO PASSING THE MARTETPLACE EQUITY ACT.
.WHICH WILL REQUIRE ONLINE MERCHANTS TO COLLECT AND SEND TO EACH STATE.THE SALES TAX ON EACH TRANSACTION.
Arkansas : - : 12 21 17
"In short, this bill levels the playing field in the world of retail sales."
ONLY CONGRESS CAN FORCE COLLECTION OF STATE TAXES ON INTERNET SALES. AND THE LEGISLATION HAS SUPPORT FROM BOTH SIDES OF THE AISLE.
.EVEN FROM ANTI-TAX REPUBLICANS LIKE TENNESSEE'S GOVERNOR.
Tennessee : - : 12 43 29
"This discussion isn't about raising taxes or adding new taxes. This discussion is about states having the flexibility and authority to collect taxes."
ONLINE RETAIL GIANT AMAZON ANTICIPATED ALL THIS.AND HAS STARTED COLLECTING SALES TAXES FOR SEVERAL STATES.
.WHILE OTHER INTERNET BUSINESSES SAY FIGURING OUT THE TAX RATES OF THE NEARLY 10-THOUSAND STATES, CITIES AND TOWNS. WILL BE MORE THAN TOUGH.

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
A few hit or miss storms will continue to develop through the late afternoon hours, but with the onshore breeze expect most of these to push deeper inland toward the Lake Okeechobee area. Once the sun sets and we lose the daytime heating, most of Southwest Florida will be rain free.
Tonight, clearing skies are in the forecast and it will be warm and muggy as overnight lows settle into the middle and upper 70s by morning.
Moisture associated with a weak wave has lifted north, and will allow for a drier and more stable airmass to move in overhead. This will keep the sunshine in full force for Wednesday with a few fair weather cumulus clouds developing during the afternoon. An isolated shower can't be ruled out during the peak heating of the day, otherwise the vast majority of us will stay dry.
Hotter temperatures are also on the way with daytime highs in the middle 90s, with slightly cooler readings at the coast and beach locations. Combine this with the humidity and the heat index or "feels like" temperature will be in the low 100s.
A drier and hotter than normal pattern looks to stay in place as we round out the work week and into the weekend. This means rain prospects will stay on the lower end with temperatures in the mid 90s.

YOU MAY HAVE HEARD.NEW YORK'S MAYOR WANTS TO *BAN* LARGE SUGARY DRINKS--EVERYWHERE THE CITY.

THE BAN WOULD LIMIT THE SIZE OF SOFT DRINKS AND OTHER SUGARY BEVERAGES TO 16 OUNCES.
NEW YORK'S MAYOR IS HOPING TO HELP THE CITY LOSE SOME WEIGHT.
Return to index of stories...
IT'S A DEBATE BETWEEN HEALTH, AND FREEDOM.
AND SODA'S AT THE CENTER OF IT ALL.
PEGGY WARD, AGAINST NEW YORK PROPOSAL 03:03-07 "I think that it's a mistake to ever try and legislate something like that."
NEW YORK CITY'S MAYOR MICHAEL BLOOMBERG WANTS TO BAN THE SALE OF SUGARY DRINKS LARGER THAN 16 OUNCES.
AND WHILE IT'S THOUSANDS OF MILES FROM HERE. PEOPLE LIKE PEGGY WARD ARE STILL CONCERNED.
PEGGY WARD 03:21-28 "If somebody wants to drink a drink that is large and filled with calories, they should be allowed to do it, it's their choice."
SO WHY RESTRICT THE SIZE OF A DRINK?
WELL, IT'S ALL ABOUT WHAT'S INSIDE.
STU "Inside of a 44 oz cup of soda is about 2/3's of a cup of sugar."
STU "It's this amount of sugar inside of one cup that makes doctors say soda just isn't good for you."
JEFFREY DELANEY, VP Nuviva Medical Weight Loss 54:14-27 "Loaded drinks with sugar, soft drinks in general cause a lot of issues, long term from stroke, high blood pressure, diabetes, colesterol issues and most of that starts with weight gain."
JEFFREY DELANEY IS AN EXPERT IN DIET AND WEIGHT LOSS.
HE SAYS THE SUGAR IN THESE DRINKS WILL, IN MOST PEOPLE TURN TO FAT.
JUST BURNING OFF THIS 44OZ DRINK COULD TAKE WELL OVER AN HOUR OF EXERCISE.
59:24-30 "It's like 146 minutes walking, an hour jogging, the list goes on."
BECAUSE OF THE POTENTIAL PROBLEMS OF SUGARY DRINKS, HE DOESN'T THINK RESTRICTING THE SIZE ISN'T A BAD IDEA.
00:19-29 "I think they should be restricted across the board, especially in schools, childhood obesiety is the worse it's ever been, so we obviously need to do something about it."
BUT SHOULD THAT COME FROM THE GOVERNMENT. OR, THE PERSON.
03:38-43 "Eery single time we give away a freedom, it's another one that we're probably not going to be able to take back."
