We'll be leaving the rain chances behind for a few days now that some dry, stable air is starting to settle over Southwest Florida.
As our rain chances dip for the rest of the week and drier air moves into the area, our temperatures will be on the rise.
Thursday and Friday most of us warm to the middle 90s. Even though our upper atmosphere will be drying out, we'll still notice high humidity close to the surface, making those afternoons in the mid 90s feel like we're between 100-105 degrees.
With temperatures this high it's always possible for a rogue storm to develop during the heat of the day, but the chance of any one place getting hit by a storm will be close to 10% from now through the upcoming weekend.
Our overnights for the rest of the week will continue to be warm, muggy, and mostly clear with temperatures only cooling to the mid to upper 70s on most nights.
For the boaters and beach goers, this all stacks up to nice conditions for you!
After the weekend, enough moisture will build back into Southwest Florida to produce at least some isolated afternoon thunderstorms, so rain chances should start to bump up a little by Monday.
In the tropics, there are no threats to Southwest Florida, but a tropical wave in the north central Atlantic will have a small window of opportunity to become a named storm before it moves over cooler waters and weakens. Elsewhere, there's a strong tropical wave moving off the coast of Africa that's worth watching, but the environment upstream over the Eastern Atlantic looks a little too hostile for strengthening at this point.

Pound for pound, Sarah Robles is one of the strongest women in the world. At the 2012 Olympic team trials she placed first among women in the super heavyweight division.
SARAH ROBLES/WEIGHTLIFTING:
MOST OF THE TIME WHEN PEOPLE WATCH WEIGHTLIFTING IN THE OLYMPICS, THEY HAVE THIS IDEA: OH, BIG STRONG GUY. THAT'S BIG MUSCLES AND YOU'RE JUST GOING TO LIFT A LOT OF WEIGHT.
While fans may marvel at her size and strength, it takes a robotics engineer like Brian Zenowich to appreciate the way Robles uses her body to create explosive power.
BRIAN ZENOWICH, BARRETT TECHNOLOGY:
THE BALANCE, THE SPEED, THE AGILITY, THE POSTURE, EVERYTHING THAT GOES INTO HER LIFTS, IT BLOWS MY MIND.
Zenowich and his collaborators at Barrett Technology have developed one of the most advanced robotic arms in the world: the Whole Arm Manipulator, or WAM Arm.
BRIAN ZENOWICH, BARRETT TECHNOLOGY:
WE WANTED TO BE ABLE TO ADDRESS PROBLEMS AND TASKS THAT HUMANS CAN ADDRESS IN A VERY NATURAL WAY.
To see if the WAM Arm can mimic Robles' craft, we first filmed Robles completing the Olympic lifts with a high speed Phantom Camera.
While analyzing the lift, Zenowich pinpoints the key part of Robles' exercise.
BRIAN ZENOWICH, BARRETT TECHNOLOGY:
SHE HAD JUST A FRACTION OF A SECOND WHERE SHE HAD TO GET HER ENTIRE BODY BACK UNDERNEATH THAT BAR.
SARAH ROBLES/WEIGHTLIFTING:
A LOT OF PEOPLE JUST THINK IT'S MOVING THE BAR, BUT MOST OF IT IS MOVING YOUR BODY AROUND THE BAR.
To simulate what Robles did during the lift, Zenowich attempts to get the WAM arm to lift a five-pound weight.
BRIAN ZENOWICH, BARRETT TECHNOLOGY:
I'M GOING TO MOVE THE ROBOT FORWARD, AND BEGIN TO IMPART ENOUGH MOMENTUM TO THE MASS TO GET IT FLIPPED UP ABOVE THE ROBOT.
At the 2012 Summer Olympics, Robles will try to raise the bar of athletic achievement, something that may just inspire an engineer like Brian Zenowich to raise his robot's game too.

JEFF HUSNEY ALWAYS THOUGHT HE WAS THE PICTURE OF HEALTH.
"I was watching my diet and nutrition as I was getting toward middle age exercise proper rest was always part of my regiment."
SO WHEN HE FELT A LUMP IN HIS NECK FIVE YEARS AGO HE NEVER EXPECTED IT TO BE CANCER. BUT HE SOON LEARNED HE WASN'T ALONE. IN THE LAST DECADE DOCTORS STARTED SEEING A DISTURBING TREND IN HEAD AND NECK CANCER PATIENTS
"Who were younger who had little smoking history if at all and were otherwise in good health."
BUT THEY FOUND A COMMON THREAD. PATIENTS WERE INFECTED WITH THE HUMAN PAPPILLOMA VIRUS OR HPV.
IT'S ESTIMATED THAT TWENTY MILLION AMERICANS ARE INFECTED WITH HPV. IT'S THE MOST COMMON SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASE AND IN WOMEN CAN LEAD TO CERVICAL CANCER AND IN MEN THROAT CANCERS. INITIALLY JEFF TESTED NEGATIVE.
"Chances are the test was a false negative so HPV more than likely is the reason why I had this cancer."
"This is really a new cancer cause and because of its epidemic proportions this could be a major health problem."
BUT THERE MAY BE A WAY TO PREVENT IT. THE C-D-C RECENTLY RECOMMENDED THE HPV SHOT. GARDISIL FOR BOYS AGE NINE TO 26. IT'S ALREADY APPROVED FOR GIRLS. JEFF SAYS HE'D RECOMMEND IT TO HIS SONS TO AVOID WHAT HE WENT THROUGH.
"The treatments are affecting your mouth and your ability to eat drink swallow talk it becomes a very painful and challenging form of treatments to get through so besides it being cancer I would hope to spare my sons that path."
