THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
Hot and humid conditions will be the main weather story across Southwest Florida with little to no relief.
It will be a warm start to our Friday with ample sunshine and even a bit of haze across our skies. Temperatures will warm from the upper 70s into the lower 90s by the lunchtime hour with a few fair weather cumulus clouds developing through the day.
A strong ridge of high pressure continues to flex its muscle across the Florida peninsula, thus bringing a drier and more stable airmass to the area. This means mostly sunny skies will prevail with rain prospects running below 20%, however an isolated storm or two can't be ruled out as the sea breeze makes it's way inland.
The mid 90s will return for most locations this afternoon, except for our beach and coastal locations where temperatures will top out near 90°. Once you factor in the humidity, heat index values will be well over the 100° mark.
Not much relief will take place through the evening as temperatures will be slow to cool. Tonight, expect mostly clear conditions with lows in the upper 70s to near 80° along the coast with mid 70s across our inland communities.
The hotter and drier than normal weather pattern will stay in place through the weekend, with our rain chances getting a bit of a boost by the middle of next week.
As of right now, the tropics remain quiet.

MITT ROMNEY'S COMMENTS ON THE LONDON GAMES ARE CAUSING CONTROVERSY ACROSS THE POND.
ROMNEY QUESTIONED THE READINESS AND EXCITEMENT SURROUNDING THE GAMES IN AN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH N-B-C'S BRIAN WILLIAMS.
PETER ALEXANDER REPORTS.
Return to index of stories...
Just hours ahead of tonight's opening ceremony Mitt Romney hoped this stop would be a chance for some positive headlines.
His campaign described it as a risk adverse trip, one where the candidate would be here to quote listen and learn.
But he certainly got an earful from the British people and the British press after some comments to NBC's Brian Williams questioning London's preparedness for the games.
And it continues check this headline in the Sun tabloid this morning reading Mitt the Twit.
Romney is hoping tonight's festivities and the focus on the athletes will wash away some of the remarks and make it so there are no longer any bad feelings between him and the british people.
"There's a guy named Mitt Romney who wants to know whether we're ready, whether we're ready. Are we ready?"
Speaking earlier today on NBC's Today Show he told Matt Lauer he is confident that it will be a wonderful games and that his focus is on supporting the American athletes here.
Presidential Candidate :16
"You know I'm absolutely convinced that the people here are ready for the games and in just a few moments all the things politicians say will get swept away because the athletes finally take the stage. The games are about the athletes, that's why the games virtually anywhere they've been had be highly successful."
"Tomorrow morning he heads to Israel and early next week to Poland. That is the latest from here in London, I'm Peter Alexander, NBC News."

NEVER TURN YOUR BACK ON A SHARK.
IT MIGHT STEAL YOUR GEAR!
AND REALLY, WHO'S GONNA TRY AND STOP IT?
JEANNE MOOS HAS A FISH STORY ABOUT THE SHARK THAT GOT AWAY.WITH THE CAMERA.
Return to index of stories...
--REPORTER PKG-AS FOLLOWS --
OFFICER, I'D LIKE TO REPORT A THEFT IN PROGRESS. EXPENSIVE CAMERA GEAR. WAIT A MINUTE, THE PERPETRATOR'S ALREADY GETTING AWAY. SOMEBODY ARREST THAT SHARK.
But we've known this shark for several years. Her name is Emma. She's 14-feet long.
GEORGE SCHELLENGER SHOULD KNOW. HE'S THE ONE SHOOTING THE THEFT WHICH OCCURED AT TIGER BEACH IN THE BAHAMAS, KNOWN FOR ITS TIGER SHARKS. THE DIVERS WERE SHOOTING A DOCUMENTARY CALLED SHARK OBSESSION WHEN EMMA SWIPED THEIR GEAR, LEAVING THE DIVE MASTER IN HER WAKE.
That's right. she was actually on the wrong side.
MAYBE THE SHARK'S JUST SICK OF ALL THE ANNOYING UNDERWATER PAPARAZZI.
ALWAYS STICKING CAMERAS IN HER FACE.
NEVER GIVING HER CREDIT ON SHARK WEEK.
THE GEAR WAS WORTH ABOUT 15,000 BUCKS AND IT WEIGHED ABOUT 30 POUNDS, SORT OF A HEAVY SNACK.
SO HEAVY EMMA DROPPED IT WITHIN A HUNDRED FEET OR SO AND THE DIVEMASTER WAS ABLE TO RECOVER IT, UNDAMAGED. AND THOUGH EMMA'S CAMERA WASN'T ROLLING.
THE ONE STOLEN A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO BY THIS TIGER SHARK WAS. IT HAPPENED TO THE STUART'S COVE DIVE TEAM IN THE BAHAMAS.
He opened his mouth,
closed his mouth around the video camera.
NOW WE KNOW WHAT IT WOULD LOOK LIKE TO BE A MORSEL IN THAT MOUTH. THIS SHARK ALSO SPAT OUT THE CAMERA ABOUT 30 FEET AWAY. EVEN AN OCTOPUS HAS STOLEN A LITTLE GO PRO CAMERA. THOUGH ITS PHOTOGRAPHY SKILLS SEEMED, SHALL WE SAY, EXPRESSIONISTIC. THE DIVER EVENTUALLY POKED THE OCTOPUS WITH HIS SPEARGUN AND GRABBED THE CAMERA, AS THE OCTOPUS LATCHED ON TO THE SPEARGUN INSTEAD. NOW IF YOU PUT BAIT ON YOUR CAMERA, YOU GREATLY INCREASE THE CHANCES OF HAVING A SHARK STEAL IT. THE DIVERS DOCUMENTING EMMA DIDN'T HOLD HER ATTEMPTED THEFT AGAINST HER. THEY'RE ON SUCH FRIENDLY TERMS THEY DO HEAD BUTTS.
It's very much like your dog swimming up to you to give you a kiss
AT LEAST THEY DIDN'T HAVE TO KISS THE CAMERA GOODBYE. SEALIFE STEALING FROM HUMANS, IT'S ENOUGH TO MAKE A WALRUS WHISTLE.
Whistle!

Starting off our list is a registered sex offender who's gone completely off the radar, and needs to be reeled back in before he commits yet another crime. Tyrone Campbell has been on the run for just about a month now, after failing to comply with the terms of his sex offender status. Convicted of that charge back in 1993 for two counts of the lewd and lascivious molestation of a child, Campbell has continued on a destructive path of crime and chaos, with 11 arrests in Lee County and several additional in Collier. He's also been sent to state prison five times, for a grand total of about 11 years. Among his dirty deeds are charges of battery, multiple counts of aggravated assault, drugs, grand theft auto, burglary and parole violations. Born and raised in Fort Myers, Campbell was last known to be living in Lehigh.
And next up is a man arrested 15 times before on a variety of violent charges, but who goes by the less than scary street name of "Smurf." Derek Hicks is on the run for violating his probation following an arrest for the improper exhibition of a weapon. Over the years, this 27 year old Cape Coral man has been jailed for aggravated assault, several charges of burglary, the sale and delivery of cocaine, larceny theft and carrying a concealed firearm. Hicks has also demonstrated his short fuse with arrests for domestic violence, with a total of six orders of protection issued against him. Hicks is known to have some gang affiliations and is believed to still be in the area. He is 5'8", with several tattoos, including a Rosary with the phrase "only God can judge me" inked on his chest, a Glock handgun and drama faces on his left arm and, not to be forgotten, a tattoo of one of the tiny blue cartoon characters, the Smurfs, nicely place on his neck.
Also dodging deputies is a man not known for being a famous country singer, but rather a convicted felon with 24 bookings under his belt. Kenny Rogers is on the run after failing to show up in court recently following an arrest for dealing and trafficking in stolen property. This repeat offender has compiled quite the rap sheet in his 30 years, with arrests for multiple counts of grand theft, fraud, battery, drugs, contempt, and a few occasions in which he decided to flee and elude police officers at all costs - including public safety. Rogers has been known to use the alias of Anthony Anderson, and more commonly on the streets, the name "K Dawg," which is also tattooed on his right arm. Upon his arrest, Rogers will be held without bond in the Lee County Jail.
And rounding out our list of dubious distinction is Antonio Ellis Taylor, the latest addition to Crime Stoppers 10 Most Wanted list. Currently on the run for failing to show up in court following an arrest for aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, Taylor is a very familiar face to police throughout Lee County. Locally, he's been jailed 28 times before on a laundry list of savage offenses, including multiple cases of aggravated battery with a firearm, hit and run, the possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, evidence tampering, burglary and a shooting incident, among many others. In addition to his local offenses, Taylor has also served three terms in state prison for armed robbery and drug charges. Taylor has an identical twin brother named Anthony who is not wanted by police at this time. The best way to tell the two apart are their differing tattoos. Antonio has multiple skin dressings, including a heart in the middle of his eyebrows, multiple faces inked on his chest and twin skulls with the word Pakistan on his left arm. And upon his arrest, Taylor will be held without bond.

--REPORTER PKG-AS FOLLOWS --
NOEL SCHENCK STARTED SLEEPWALKING WHEN SHE WAS ABOUT 4 YEARS OLD.
I would go into the refrigerator and open the door, i would come out and wonder around.
SLEEPWALKING IS MOST COMMON IN CHILDREN AGES 4 - 8 AND USUALLY DOESN'T REQUIRE TREATMENT. MOST, LIKE SCHENCK, OUTGROW IT.
Sleepwalking can be thought of as the state halfway between being fully awake and being fully asleep. The brain is doing things that it would do in wakefulness but it would never recall them in the future.
EXPERTS AREN'T EXACTLY SURE WHAT CAUSES IT.
We don't know why the young brain seem to get caught in this half wake half asleep circumstance./ there are some genetic contributors. We know that if your parents were sleepwalkers, you're more likely to be a sleepwalker.
IF AN ADULT HAPPENS TO START SLEEPWALKING IT'S USUALLY BECAUSE OF SLEEP DEPRIVATION, AN ILLNESS, MEDICATIONS SUCH AS SLEEPING PILLS OR ALCOHOL. IDENTIFYING THE TRIGGER USUALLY STOPS THE BEHAVIOR. HOW SHOULD YOU HANDLE A SLEEPWALKER?
It's probably best to try to redirect a sleepwalker back to bed, than to try to shake them awake and ask them what they were doing.
SCHENCK HAS 2 CHILDREN AND IS MAKING HER HOUSE SAFE NOW.
We reinstalled the gate at the top of the stairs.
IN CASE THEY FOLLOW IN HER FOOTSTEPS, AND START WALKING IN THEIR SLEEP.
FOR TODAY'S HEALTH MINUTE, I'M ELIZABETH COHEN.
