THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
HOT AND HUMID WEEKEND IN STORE
Hot and humid conditions will be the main weather story across Southwest Florida with little to no relief. By that I mean. Hardly any rain!
A strong ridge of high pressure continues to sprawl across the Florida peninsula, thus bringing a drier and more stable airmass to the area. This means mostly sunny skies will prevail with rain prospects running below 20%, however an isolated storm or two can't be ruled out as the sea breeze makes it's way inland.
Our winds will stay from the west-southwest which will keep the sea breeze more inland. This type of wind pattern is conducive for morning to noon showers. Any stay and isolated showers that decide to billow up will occur during those hours.
Not much relief expected during the overnight as temperatures will be slow to cool. Tonight, expect mostly clear conditions with lows in the upper 70s to near 80° along the coast with mid 70s across our inland communities.
The mid 90s will return for most locations tomorrow afternoon, except for our beach and coastal locations where temperatures will top out near 90°. Once you factor in the humidity, heat index values will be well over the 100° mark.
Our rain chances will be getting a bit of a boost by the middle of next week, but the heat will continute!
As of right now, the tropics remain quiet.

This building is dedicated to a different side of olympians that many of us just don't know.
But art and the olympics may not be as strange as you think.

PKG
It's a building sitting right downtown.
But for many, what goes on inside, is a mystery.
04:28-29 "No, no I don't."
41:24-26 "That's why we wanted to come in and find out what it was all about."
10:24-28 "Whether it be painting, photography, sculpture, it's all about the arts."
Sandy Talaga is the Director of Operations at the art of Olympians.
She explains, the mix of art and the olympics goes back to the
beginning of the games
110:33-51 "When the olympics first started, they actually had sport and art together, and people just don't realize this now. The reason for that was so that their citizens could actually be well rounded so they could be better people and do better things in their lives."
And it was an Olympian who started the center. 4 time olympic gold medal discus thrower. and artist, Al Oerter.
11:18-30 "He wanted to bring this together to show everyone, whether they were 2 years old or 92, because we can always learn that it's about being passionate in your life."
And Al, was passionate about his paintings.
But it's something he shared with many other olympians, like the famous Bob Beamon. a long Jump champion and graphic designer.
But this building isn't only unique because of what's inside. it's also because of the olympic rings hanging out front.
12:42-48 "You will not see these rings on anyone else's building unless you paid at least, you know, 40-million dollars."
Only places that have hosted the games share the same honor.
But no others share all of the olympic art.

THIS WILLET DIPS INTO THE SHALLOW WATER OF BIG CARLOS PASS, LOOKING FOR FOOD.
BUT HE SEEMS TO AVOID ANOTHER POPULAR FEEDING SPOT -- THE WRACK LINE.
nats 33:38 nope not a lot here, not a lot of birds foraging here
BIOLOGIST AMY CLIFTON SAYS THAT'S BECAUSE THE LINE THAT'S FILLED WITH SEA GRASS AND MANGROVE PODS HAS CHANGED.
before the storm you would have a heavier wrack line one that was mounded up maybe 2 or 3 inches, that would hold a lot of nutrients
IT'S NOT DIRT-- CLIFTON SAYS WRACK ALSO HOLDS SMALL BUGS, WORMS AND ALGEA--FOOD FOR BIRDS BULKING UP TO MIGRATE SOUTH.
Nats vincent stafford, what's this. This could be a mangrove one day
CLIFTON SHOWS SEVEN YEAR OLD VINCENT STAFFORD SOME THINGS YOU CAN FIND IN WRACK, LIKE SHELLS.
its a great place to catch wildlife in action
VINCENT'S DAD, JAMES, SAYS NATURE DRAWS HIS FAMILY TO BEACHES LIKE LOVER'S KEY STATE PARK.
looking for a fighter conch, havent found one yet
CLIFTON HELPS VINCENT SEARCH FOR A FIGHTER CONCH SHELL -- BUT JUST LIKE MANY OF THE BIRDS, THEY HAVE A HARD TIME FINDING WHAT THEY WANT.
because of debby a lot of that washed out and further and you don't have as much wrack line here on the beach
HERE, AND AT BEACHES THROUGHOUT SOUTHWEST FLORIDA-- LEAVING LESS FINDS FOR BEACH SCAVENGERS, AND LESS FOOD, FOR BIRDS FLYING SOUTH.
