Over the last few days, showers and storms have been concentrated across our inland communities and today is no exception.
Mostly sunny skies will dominate in the early morning hours with a few showers developing over the very warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The vast majority of Southwest Florida will stay dry, but a shower or two could wash ashore through the mid day hours.
As the sea breeze begins to work its way inland, isolated showers and storms will get pushed deeper inland by the afternoon.
Temperatures will quickly warm under partly sunny skies into the lower to middle 90s through the day and with plenty of humidity, heat index values will range from 100°-108°.
A weak tropical wave over the Dominican Republic will bring an increase in tropical moisture by the weekend, which means more cloud cover and a better coverage of showers and storms to the area.
In the Atlantic, Tropical storm ernesto has formed about 640 miles east of the windward islands. Sustained winds are at 35 mph and it continues to move on a westerly track at 18mph. As this system moves into a more favorable environment for strengthening, we could see the evolution of Tropical Storm Ernesto over the next day or two. As of right now, this is not a threat to Southwest Florida and we will continue to track it over the next several days.

THE LEE COUNTY MEDICAL EXAMINER'S OFFICE LATER DETERMINED LEROY TAYLOR SENIOR DIED AS A RESULT OF BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA TO THE HEAD AND CHEST.
DETECTIVES SAY THE INVESTIGATION TOOK THEM ALL THE WAY TO NEW YORK AFTER TAYLOR JUNIOR WENT ON THE RUN.

Angry and disbelief tonight -- as accused killer leroy "jim" Taylor junior faces a lee county judge.
Lias 2642 "when they told me they found him in a pool of blood, the 1st thing in my head was Jim was the one who killed him."
Not only do Cape coral investigators claim Taylor junior beat his father until his last breath in the earlier morning of Tuesday July 18th in a drunken rage.
They say he soaked his dad's body in gasoline and then told lie after lie about his father's health and well being before fleeing to new York.
Lias 2710 "he was in that cocaine. He didn't just have a drinking problem. He had a cocaine problem too."
While the 91 year old's friends explain Taylor junior exploited his father for cash time and time again, cape detectives detail a father's journal entry.
In the entry, it warns with any alcohol Taylor junior's behavior turns violent.
And just hours before the fatal blow inside Taylor senior's cape coral home, officers reveal they almost arrested the son for being drunk at a bar.
2530 lias "he had a temper with his dad."
Cape coral police officers tracked Taylor junior to new York -- where they say blood found on his belt matches his father's DNA profile.
Investigators claim the match proves a son killed his father -- in cape corals first murder of the year.

Also in primetime, Missy Franklin looks to earn her third gold - fourth medal overall - in the 100m freestyle. Team gold medal gymnasts Gabby Douglas and Aly Raisman compete in the women's all-around gold medal final.
LIVE on NBC Sports Network, Team USA's men's basketball team, including Kobe Bryant and Lebron James, continues their quest for the gold as they take on Nigeria tomorrow at 5:15 p.m. ET.
LIVE on NBC in daytime, Team USA's men's water polo team, led by captain Tony Azevedo, compete against Olympic host nation Great Britain at 1:20 p.m.
