Marco Police say Joyce Crain was taking drugs intended for the needy.
and selling them for profit.
In an investigation Marco Police say Crain falsified prescription assistance program applications.and forged patient and doctor's signatures.
And they say she did it using a fake company called Collier County Health Services.having the drugs delivered to the front door of her lavish Marco Island Home.
Police say Crain is the former president of the non-profit organization, Prescriptions for hope-meant to help the needy pay for prescriptions.
Much like Catholic Charities does.
obviously this is the kind of thing one has nightmares about. People gaming the system for personal advantage. When you're trying to meet the needs of the most needy in the community.
Armondo Galella with Catholic Charities says the prescription medications are vital for all of their clients.
But admits the business could be lucrative if someone trying to do what Crain is accused of.
They could easily steal a lot of money.
Money Police say Crain had no shortage of.
The investigation shows they found 120,00-150,000 dollars of prescription medications in her home.
Medications she is accused of selling back to patients; rather than giving them to the poor.
Medications that landed her behind bars facing prescription fraud, forgery and other serious charges.

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
TROPICAL STORM ERNESTO FORMS
The 5th storm of the season is on the map and was designated Tropical Storm Ernesto by the Hurricane Center today at 5:00 p.m. Ernesto is expected to gain strength very slowly in the short term, and could become a hurricane by Monday of next week. The storm track is not pointed at Florida, but the expected proximity of Ernesto next week would still warrant watching the track over the weekend. I encourage you to check in with the latest forecast at least once a day! It's that time of year when you can't afford to be caught off guard if things change when it comes to Tropical Storms.
In the short term, our chances for afternoon thunderstorms will increase over the next few days…and it has nothing to do with Ernesto. Another, weak, tropical wave will move toward Florida this weekend and push more tropical moisture our way. The onshore winds we have tracked this week will be held back a little and that should give us a better chance for rain near the urban corridor. Temperatures will drop into the upper 70's for several more days and recover the the 90's each afternoon. I don't see much relief in the forecast from our typical heat and humidity this time of year.
