It continues to move due west at a quick 21 MPH. It has sustained winds of 50 MPH, and winds gusts have been clocked at over 60. As of now all models keep Ernesto in the Caribbean, making landfall Wednesday around Belize and the Yucatan Peninsula as a CAT 1 Hurricane.
It will not have a direct impact on southwest Florida
There's another tropical wave that we're watching just south of the Cape Verde Islands. The National Hurricane Center is giving the area a good chance of developing into our next tropical system within the next 48 hours. The environment it's about to enter is very ripe for strengthening.
Yes, the tropics are beginning to fire… Right on time!

Cars in canals.
Not something you see everyday.
But Friday morning someone spotted the trunk of this Volkswagen In the waters near Goodland.
Their first response.call 911
01:13 911 call
I happened to be going down and I see something sticking out of the water and I turned around and. And back and it looks like a Volswagon.
Turns out the person on this 911 call was right.
it was a Volswagon.
Fully submerged in the water.
Dive teams scrambling to make sure no one was inside.
59:08 Lt. Chad Parker CCSO
Law enforcement first response is the believe maybe they swerved to hit an animal or something or just fell asleep at the wheel and the car dove off into the canal.
Thankfully this car was empty.
But now deputies are trying to figure out how just this stolen car from Miami ended up here.
01:00:21 Parker
We'll be looking at indicators to see if there were indications this car was insurance fraud.
Lieutenant Chad Parker with the collier county sheriffs office says cars in canals are usually tied to some form of criminal activity.
57:42 Parker
Some are just because they steal it for a joy ride and then they dump it. Or it's stolen to commit another crime and they need to get rid of the vehicle and the last one which is the most popular one is insurance fraud.
And those fraud investigations usually start up once the water in these canals starts to recede.
57:15 Parker
Once a year we start to the water levels drop due to the dry season. That's when we start to see submerged vehicles in the canals by way of our helicopter flying over seeing the tips or if it's upside down the bottoms close to the surface.
And once they make their way to the surface deputies have a sure fire way to make sure the owner of the car isn't trying to pull a fast one.
01:00:23 Parker
Was it a manufactures key used to start the at? Does the victim have possession of the key? Was it a forces start? Was it hot wired?
