An early morning hit and run in San Carlos park leads to a phone call -- no mother ever wants to hear.

Maree Bien-Aime, mom

0023 "she's been in an accident. She's been hit by a car."

Maree Bien-Aime's 16 year old daughter Keisha was left for dead on Sanibel Bvd as she walked to her bus stop.

Florida Highway Patrol Troopers tell us a PICKUP-TRUCK driver veered off the road and right into Keisha -- before gunning off with total disregard for human life.

Maree Bien-Aime, mom

0046 "that's my daughter and I love her so much and she loves me too."

Witnesses explain a red truck hit Keisha -- in a violent crash.

Chris Jensen, neighbor

3642 "the truck hit her so hard that the grill and stuff busted and flew all over the plane."

For this neighbor -- who's a father -- his lingering fears about the dangers along this busy road -- feel fresh tonight.

Jensen, neighbor

As Keisha fights to recover in a Tampa hospital, her 13 year old sister sends heavenly wishes.

NEW DETAILS TONIGHT IN A COLLIER COUNTY MURDER INVESTIGATION--

44 YEAR OLD CONCETTA BEDELL WAS FOUND DEAD ON HER BACK PORCH IN NORTH NAPLES EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING.

COLLIER MURDER FOLO-PKG-BNR

A crime scene searched--

People questioned--

A person of interest identified.

Investigators now looking to talk to 44 year old Lawrence MacDonald about the murder of his ex girlfriend, 44 year old Concetta Bedell-- found shot to death on her back porch early Wednesday morning.

Court documents show the couple broke up in May of 2011 after MacDonald allegedly shot three bullet holes through her bedroom wall and threatened her, saying those "holes should be your head".

Bedell also claimed MacDonald physically assaulted her-- but she didn't report the attack to law enforcement.

Linda Oberhaus, The Shelter for Abused Women and Children

32:40 "Women who don't want to go to court. they don't want to press charges are really in fear of their life." 48

Linda Oberhaus with The Shelter for Abused Women and Children in Naples says fear of reporting abuse isn't uncommon but if nothing is done--violent relationships almost always escalate.

Last August deputies responded to a domestic violence call at Bedell's home in Naples. Bedell claimed MacDonald had a loaded gun, a roll of duct tape and a blanket in the car.

Sheriff's office reports also show MacDonald told an officer quote: homicide is not pretty but when you do it, it feels pretty good."

Bedell refused to file charges against her ex out of fear for her safety and the safety of her two sons.

One month later she filed a restraining order.

Linda:

32:56 "The violence actually de-escalates at the point when someone seeks an injunction when they seek legal recourse but that's not always the case, an injunction is just a piece of paper."

THE DAY AFTER BEDELL FILED THE RESTRAINING ORDER, A judge ordered MacDonald to turn over all of his weapons-- it's unclear if he did. Return to index of stories...

nats from a county commission meeting

AS ROBERT SKIDMORE WRAPS UP HIS FIRST TERM ON THE CHARLOTTE COUNTY COMISSION… AND RUNS FOR A SECOND; HE'S FACING CLAIMS OF SEXUAL HARRASSMENT.

IN A FEDERAL LAWSUIT, FORMER CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER SHONNA JENKINS CLAIMS "SKIDMORE would often seek out JENKINS in order to make contact with her and initiate a sexual relationship."

SOT SKIDMORE:

"the whole document is totally ridiculous."

SKIDMORE, A 30-YEAR-OLD FATHER OF THREE GIRLS, DENIES IT ALL.

JENKINS CLAIMS SKIDMORE MADE SEXUAL COMMENTS TO HER AND IS ASING FOR MONETARY DAMAGES.

COURT DOCUMENTS SHOW THREE OTHER EMPLOYEES HEARD THE COMMENTS.

JENKINS REPORTED SKIDMORE TO HUMAN RESOURCES; BUT ALLEGES "The COUNTY has failed to take any action to eliminate the sexual harassment and/or hostile work environment."

HER LAWYER SAYS THE COUNTY VIOLATED STATE AND FEDERAL CIVIL RIGHTS ACTS.

SOT: BENJAMIN YORKMAN/JENKIN'S ATTORNEY

"essentially, the complaint boils down to Mr Skidmore's ongoing pattern of reprehensible conduct"

Standup: Skidmore is calling out the timing of the lawsuit. Saying the elections season in Florida is well underway as the state prepares for its primary elections on Tuesday. In those primaries, the republican representing district three of Charlotte County is facing a challenge from Bill Truex.

"it's definitely a distraction from the good work I do each and every day for the people."

BENJAMIN YORKMAN SAYS THE LAWSUIT ISN'T MEANT TO HURT SKIDMORE'S CAMPAIGN.

IT'S BEEN IN WORKS FOR MORE THAN A YEAR AND HE HAD A STRICT TIME FRAME TO FILE IT AFTER RECEIVING THE GO AHEAD FROM THE EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY COMMISSION.

" the fact that she has had to file this lawsuit in order to seek some kind of justice is what's important, not a political campaign."

FIRST ALERT FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

RAINY WEEKEND IS EXPECTED

First Alert Live Doppler Radar will get a good work out Saturday and Sunday. Deep tropical moisture is going to engulf southwest Florida, and that is going to spike our rain chances.

Saturday will be partly cloudy with scattered storms. You'll be able to go outside periodically through the day, so don't worry!

Sunday has a different outlook. It's the gloomiest day, so to speak. It will be mostly cloudy with periods of heavy downpours and storms.

Rain chances take a precipitous drop Monday through mid week. What storm cells pop up will be very isolated in nature.

Highs will cool off slightly, too. There will not be anymore 95+ degree heat for several days. Lower 90s will be more of the rule, however, when one adds the humidity… It'll still feel muggy and uncomfortable.

For you beach and boat goers expect winds from the east-southeast at 5-10 knots, seas 1-2 feet, and a light chop for the inland waterways.

As for the tropics, they are beginning to show more activity.

Remnants of Florence are fading away, Ernesto is weakening, too.

There's an area of organized clouds that we are watching between the Lesser Antilles and the Cape Verde Islands. It will develop into our next Tropical Depression tonight. The environment ahead of it is conducive for further development as it pushes west.

The last area of interest is a low pressure system approaching the coast of Africa. Return to index of stories...
