TODAY'S WEATHER-WX CENTER

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

Abundant tropical moisture will make for a pretty cloudy, showery weekend for Southwest Florida.

We'll even notice some a few coastal showers this morning, and then the rain will edge eastward and inland as we progress through the day.

The best chance of rain for most of us will come between the mid morning and mid afternoon , and then a lot of the afternoon rain will be concentrated over our inland communities. Even with the most rain deeper inland late in the day, with so much moisture around, we can't rule out a passing shower for anyone at any time.

By tonight, some lingering rain will be possible while our sky stays predominantly cloudy. It's certainly possible to see some breaks in the cloud cover, so let's hope for some clear patches if you plan on watching the Perseids meteor shower late tonight.

Sunday looks to be another fairly cloudy day with several showers and storms roaming around. The best window of opportunity for rain will likely be from the morning through the mid afternoon. Again, it looks as though most of the late afternoon and evening rain will be deeper inland.

Afternoon temperatures through the weekend will be slightly below average with all the clouds and rain developing; most locations will top out in the low 90s both Saturday and Sunday, and a few spots may not even hit 90.

By Monday our weather will start to shift back to a more typical summer pattern for Southwest Florida. We'll enjoy more morning and early afternoon sunshine, and the best chance of rain and storms will be in the afternoon. Highs should gradually return the low to mid 90s by early next week.

In the tropics, we're closely monitoring Tropical Depression Seven, but its fast motion and interaction with dry air have proven to be a challenge for the storm. T.D. seven may organize into a weak tropical storm later today, but the future for what could soon be Gordon doesn't look too bright. Strong wind shear is waiting downstream, which is expected to tear the system apart by the end of the weekend or early next week.

Elsewhere, we're also watching a strong tropical wave northwest of the Cape Verde Islands, but this system will likely curve to the north and stay well out at sea. Return to index of stories...

IT'S OFFICIAL ! THIS IS THE TEAM. THE ROMNEY CAMPAIGN THIS MORNING ANNOUNCED PAUL RYAN IS HIS PICK FOR THE 2012 REPUBLICAN TICKET. THE CONGRESSMAN CAMPAIGNED WITH ROMNEY IN APRIL IN WISCONSIN, RYAN'S HOME STATE.

nats ryan

the next pres of the united states gov mitt romney

ROMNEY WILL INTRODUCE RYAN AS HIS RUNNING MATE IN VIRGINIA THIS MORNING.

AT AGE 42, RYAN IS A SELF-DESCRIBED REPUBLICAN YOUNG GUN. A STAUNCH FISCAL CONSERVATIVE. CHARISMATIC AND ENERGETIC.

AS CHAIR OF THE HOUSE BUDGET COMMITTEE, RYAN PROPOSED A TAX AND SPENDING PLAN THAT WOULD CUT SO DEEPLY EVEN SOME REPUBLICANS, INCLUDING ROMNEY, DIDN'T BUY IT.

A PLAN TO TURN MEDICARE INTO A PRIVATE VOUCHER PROGRAM THAT ANALYSTS SAY WOULD RAISE WHAT WE PAY FOR HEALTHCARE, AS IT CUTS GOVERNMENT'S COST.

AND THE RYAN PLAN WOULD LOWER THE TAX RATE ON THE WEALTHY FROM 35 TO 25%

sot: Paul Ryan 1:02-1:09

"you need real fiscal reforms, real spending cuts, real spending controls going forward, so we can deal with the debt in the future"

ROMNEY IS DEALING WITH SLIPPING POLLS AS HE PICKS A RUNNING MATE, LOOKING FOR WAYS TO EXCITE THE SKEPTICAL GOP CONSERVATIVE BASE.

FORMER MINNESOTA GOVERNOR TIM PAWLENTY WAS TOLD HE'S NOT THE CHOICE.

sot - Tim Pawlenty 1:23-1:28

"this doesn't affect my attitude towards wanting him to be President. I'm gonna continue to work really hard to help him in anyway that I can."

PAUL RYAN AS THE VICE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE WOULD HELP ROMNEY GET THE CAMPAIGN BACK ON THE BIG ISSUE: OUR FISCAL CRISIS AND THE ECONOMY.

BUT RYAN ON THE TICKET WILL ALSO HELP TEAM OBAMA PAINT ROMNEY AS A CANDIDATE WHO'D FAVOR THE RICH OVER SENIORS AND THE MIDDLE CLASS. THE NEW GOP TICKET GETS AN IMMEDIATE ROAD TEST WITH A FOUR DAY BUS TOUR IN FOUR BATTLEGROUND STATES. Return to index of stories...

Lanecia: He loves people to talk to him and play with him.

Lanecia: He can say Momma, Dada and shoes. The more family stimulates him with his vocabulary I am sure he will not have any problem talking.

Lanecia: T.J. will thrive in a family that is willing to love him to be patient like they will be with any other child. Also understand that there are some additional responsibilities with making sure he goes to his additional doctor visits. He is a sweet pea he is loving. FORECAST-WXWALL

BAREFOOT RUNNING-pkg

practically my entire life I've been running

IT DOESN'T GET BETTER THAN HITTING THE BEACH FOR A NICE LONG RUN FOR MITCH NORGART.

I don't know what I'd do without it. It helps clear my mind in the morning

BUT AS HIS FEET HIT THE SAND -- YOU MAY NOTICE HE'S MISSING A CERTAIN SOMETHING.LIKE A PAIR OF SHOES!

it's a great workout one time, two times a week, it really is

NO SHOES, NO PROBLEM FOR MITCH.

great way to strengthen your foot muscles, your calves, achiles tendons and it's a natural way of running. You run more on the balls of your feet than the heels of your feet

sure, barefoot running may work out different parts of your body, but that doesn't mean the practice is for everyone

your casual runner, weekend warrior, somebody who likes to do 5ks twice a year might not be the best person to jump right into barefoot running because this type of running is very technique dependent.

A TECHNIQUE DR. JASON NEMITZ SAYS CAN BE HARD TO MASTER.

HE SAYS YOU RISK A VARIETY OF INJURIES.INCLUDING STRESS FRACTURES.IF YOU DON'T RUN THE RIGHT WAY.

BUT HE'S NOT COMPLETELY AGAINST THE IDEA OF BAREFOOT RUNNING

in the right group of people, people who have good running technique or who are already higher-level runners, I think it's ok to switch over.

MITCH COACHES RUNNERS TO EASE INTO IT AND NOT GO "FULL THROTTLE" RIGHT OFF THE BAT.

people get into barefoot running too quickly and too aggressively. You should build your way into it for sure

SO FAR -- MITCH SAYS HE HASN'T "RUN" INTO ANY PROBLEMS.

BUT OF COURSE, HE ALWAYS WATCHES WHERE HE STEPS!

at 200 plus pounds, when I hit a shell, it usually just sinks into the sand::laughs:

ON NAPLES BEACH.NICK CILETTI.NBC2.
