Today's Weather Story
THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
"More sun, fewer showers Monday"
The cloudiness we've had around for the last couple days will start to fade today as more sunshine starts to break through.
We'll still notice more cloud cover than normal for this time of year, but we'll at least be treated to more sun compared to what we had over the weekend.
While rain chances will be dropping a little today, there's still enough moisture in place to produce some widely scattered showers. We'll notice a few isolated coastal showers this morning, and some of those downpours could build toward Highway 41 by the mid to late morning.
By the mid afternoon, the sea breeze should be able to push most of the showers and thunderstorms deeper inland, but a few storms may still impact the urban corridor through this evening.
With more sunshine in play today across Southwest Florida, temperatures will be a bit warmer with most locations warming to the low 90s during the heat of the day; locations close to the coast will likely only warm to the upper 80s.
Overall moisture will be decreasing a bit as we progress through the week, putting our rain chances close to or just below "normal" for this time of year. We'll also see a change in the timing of the rain, so instead of seeing showers develop earlier in the day, most of the rain and storms will fire up during the mid to late afternoon.
The tropics continue to be rather quiet. We're watching two tropical waves, one in the Caribbean and another in the open Atlantic. Both disturbances are battling strong wind shear and dry air, which will make it difficult for either of these systems to organize. We don't expect either of these tropical wave to be a threat to Southwest Florida or the U.S. mainland.

Weather Trends
We don't expect either of these tropical wave to be a threat to Southwest Florida or the U.S. mainland.
