IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
"More sunshine and a few afternoon storms"
More sunshine is in order this Tuesday along with some hit or miss storms during the afternoon. The atmosphere will actually become a little more stable today, so the overall coverage of rain will be less with the chance of getting hit by a storm between 30-40%.
Temperatures will return to the 90s this afternoon, and some spots could even warm into the middle 90s. Afternoon highs for our coastal communities will be a touch lower with highs there in the upper 80s to low 90s.
Outside of a passing thunderstorm, the breeze won't be too strong today. Winds will start calm and then turn west this afternoon behind the sea breeze, ranging from 5-10 mph.
One or two lingering storms will be possible tonight, but most spots will stay dry with a partly cloudy to mostly clear sky. Overnight temperatures will be close to average with lows in the mid to upper 70s.
Rain chances should stay pretty steady through the remainder of the week. Our mornings will start dry and sunny, but we'll see the potential for a pop up storm each afternoon.
The tropics remain fairly quiet with only two areas of interest to track: one in the Caribbean and another in the open Atlantic. Both disturbances have little chance of developing into an organized tropical system, but more importantly, we don't expect either of these waves to move toward Southwest Florida.

It's the kind of serious accident that happens when a car hits a pole, or a
tree. or another vehicle. not quite head on. The Insurance Institute
calls it a small overlap frontal crash. and its responsible for a quarter
of all FATAL front end COLLISIONS. and as their new crash test shows.
most cars, domestic and foreign are virtually unprepared TO KEEP DRIVERS
SAFE DURING ONE.
SOT DAVID ZUBY IIHS- it represents a problem that is currently not being
addressed by most vehicle front crashworthiness design.
This is the first round of crash tests exposing this danger. no government
agency does them yet. And when shown side by side with head-on crashes.
where the force is spread across the entire front end safety cage. you can
easily see how much more dangerous this type of crash can be. Cars are
designed today, as this Insurance Institude video shows to absorb impact to
the center of vehicle. not on the corners.
SOT DAVID ZUBY - the main thing that needs to happen to provide better
crash protection in these types of crashes is a better safety cage.
Only 3 of the 11 midsize luxury cars put through the new test passed with
good or acceptable ratings. The Volvo s60 and the Acura TL did the best,
the Infiniti G series results were acceptable. THE WORST-- The Lexus 350IS.
. with 10 times the damage of the Volvo. In this Insurance Institute

YOU MAY THINK YOU'RE HELPING SOME AMERICAN VETERANS BY DONATING TO CHARITY.BUT A NEW REPORT CLAIMS NOT ALL THE MONEY IS GOING TO OUR BRAVEST MEN AND WOMEN.
THE AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF PHILANTHROPY'S CHARITY
WATCH STUDIED 46 CHARITIES FOR VETERANS. ONE HALF OF THEM SPENT LESS THAN A THIRD OF THEIR MONEY ON SERVICES THAT HELP VETERANS.
BRIAN ROSS INVESTIGATES.
Return to index of stories...
American patriotism and a desire to help returning veterans has led to the
growth of one of the charities, called Help Hospitalized Veterans.
It has raised more than $430 million dollars over the last ten years,
featuring seeming what appear to be endorsements from former President
George W. Bush, and a series of celebrity appeals over the years for
contributions that they said would directly help hospitalized vets.
Marg Helgenberger: It will help send a message to our veterans that they
have not been forgotten.
But ABC News found millions of dollars was going--not for veterans--but for
golf club dues and huge salaries and pensions for top charity officials.
The charity's founder. Roger Chapin, canceled a scheduled ABC News
interview and fled the building five years ago when he realized we were on
to him.
ABC: Can you just tell us why you won't answer Brian Ross's questions?
Now, the California attorney general has moved against the charity with a
civil complaint, saying less than half of the money went to veterans.
California attorney general Kamala Harris: The people that we have charged,
the defendants in this complaint have been so outrageous in their greed and
their self serving practices and it is one of the most outrageous cases we
have seen.
According to that new report, of 46 veterans charities rated by watchdog
group Charity Watch, 23 of them, including Help Hospitalized Veterans,
received an F grade, meaning less than a third of their money actually goes
to vets.
As of today, Help Hospitalized Veterans was still collecting money on its
website.
But former President Bush told ABC News today he had never endorsed the
charity and actress Marg Helgenberger said she will nowdemand the charity
stop using her video.
At the charity offices in California, officials were still declining to
answer questions.
Ross Standup Close:
There are many veterans charities which officials say are totally
legitimate and do a good job helping veterans.
We have a list of some that have received an A rating from the charity watch
dog group on our investigative web site.

-- I think it was maybe around $
1000
YASINSKI SAYS SHE *ISN'T A PROBLEMATIC SHOPPER.
HERE'S WHY:
-- she doesn't overspend her budget. -- it sounds like
she can go without the shopping and not have any problems.
YASINSKI SAYS MANY TIMES IT'S NOT NECESSARILY THE SHOPPING THAT'
S THE ISSUE. BUT OTHER UNDERLYING PROBLEMS THAT TRIGGER IT LIKE:
DEPRESSION & BI-POLAR DISORDER
-- lack of emotional attachment to parents or loved ones
or people in general. from a small age they had to turn to objects and
shopping to get some emotion and feeling and love in their life.
AS FOR KRISTEN -- THERE'S NO REASON TO BE CONCERNED
-- i saved up for it, I had really been wanting a Louis Vuitton
YASINSKI SAYS THAT'S PRETTY NORMAL BEHAVIOR FOR SOMEONE HER AGE.

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
