Today's Weather Story
THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
Our mornings will start off mostly sunny and dry with a typical summertime pattern in place through the rest of the week. Afternoon clouds will mix in with our sunshine today, with a few showers and storms developing along the seabreeze during peak heating. Most of the storm activity will be just to the east of I-75, however one or two of those could eventually make their way closer to the coast.
Temperatures will quickly climb into the lower to middle 90s, but it will feel much hotter as heat index values will be well over 100°, especially across our inland communities.
Tonight, skies will go mostly clear and it will be another humid overnight period as lows settle into the middle 70s.
Afternoon showers and storms will remain in the forecast with a slight up tick in the moisture by the end of the weekend and into next week. This will also keep temperatures slightly lower, as they top out in the lower 90s with increased cloud cover.
In the tropics, the remnants of what was tropical depression #7 continues to be a rainmaker across the Central America. Elsewhere, an area of disturbed weather 750 miles to the southeast of Bermuda is showing signs of better organization. Good news though, most of the models want to keep this system out in the open waters of the Atlantic.

Weather Trends

AT ITS CORE, FARMING CAN BE A HARD.
DEMANDING LIFE.
BUT FOR MANY IN MISSOURI AND ACROSS THE MIDWEST - IT'S NEVER BEEN AS DIFFICULT AS THIS YEAR.
"this year with the intense heat we've had and the lack of rain. we've had two measurable rains since April 30th here at our dairy."
BURNED OUT FIELDS.
CRACKED. AND BROKEN EARTH.
WHILE IN TOWN RESTRICTIONS ARE IN PLACE BECAUSE CITY WELLS ARE RUNNING LOW ON WATER.
"the drought has been excessive in this region for several weeks, and it's not just that we've have the 100 degree plus temperatures. but they started so early.
ALL 114 COUNTIES IN MISSOURI HAVE BEEN DECLARED DISASTER AREAS - 93-PERCENT OF THE STATE IS SUFFERING THROUGH EXTREME DROUGHT CONDITIONS.
IT'S THE WORST THE FRANSCKA FAMILY HAS SEEN IN MORE THAN 50-YEARS OF DAIRY FARMING.
THEIR PONDS ARE DRIED-UP. THEIR PASTURES HAVEN'T PRODUCED ANY HAY OR A PLACE TO GRAZE.
SO THEY HAVE TO PAY FOR FEED.
'We've spent in excess of 150-thousand dollars the last three months just on the added costs that normally. if you have normal grain prices and normal commodity prices and you don't have to buy all this hay, you know that's money that would be sittin in the bank"
COSTS THAT WILL BE PASSED ON TO CONSUMERS.
"this is just the beginning of something that's not going to be good for everybody, because your going to start feeling this in a couple of months at the grocery stores"
UNTIL SOME SUBSTANTIAL RAIN COMES DOWN.
