Today's Weather Story
THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
We'll close the work week out with a very muggy airflow coming in off the Gulf of Mexico. This will keep hit or miss morning coastal showers and storms in the forecast with a slightly higher chance for rain in the afternoon mainly east of the I-75 corridor.
Clouds will mix in with our sunshine on this Friday, but that won't prevent our temperatures from climbing into the lower to middle 90s. Humidity will be plentiful, and that will keep our heat index value or "feels like" temperature well over 100°.
A couple of isolated downpours are possible through the evening with skies clearing overnight. Temperatures will be slow to cool and will eventually settle into the mid and upper 70s by morning.
A weak flow out of southwest will hang on through the weekend with the opportunity of morning and midday showers across the urban corridor, before winds become a bit more easterly by the middle of next week.
In the tropics, things are relatively quite for mid August. We have tropical storm Gordon in the central Atlantic, which may strengthen into a category 1 hurricane over the weekend. Either way, this system poses no threat to Southwest Florida as it stays out to sea.

Weather Trends
