STORMS FOR TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY
We've started the week on a great note. Blue skies, sunshine, and most of us didn't see a drop of rain.
Tuesday and Wednesday - we won't be as lucky. A feed of tropical moisture is set to push over, and that means slightly more cloud cover and definitely better rain chances.
They'll be very isolated during the day, but become scattered around the late afternoon to early evening. Heavy rains, gusty winds, and frequent lightning will be possible with any storm cell that blossoms.
Thursday through Saturday we'll see benign conditions. Winds will be from the east, and that will help pin the sea breeze along I-75. Do plan on isolated storms during the afternoon. Highs will be in the lower to mid 90s.
Very typical for August.
Our big concern for this week lies in the tropics. There's a tropical wave 1000 miles east of the Lesser Antilles, and the National Hurricane Center has given it an 80% chance of strengthening into a tropical cyclone over the next day or so.
All models have it pushing west and encountering a ripe atmosphere. It's going to strengthen for sure, but the intensity forecast has yet to be deteremined. We need it to form first.
Models diverge around Saturday to Monday with the track of the wave. Some take it into the Caribbean and others take it into south Florida.
This is a long way out and things can change. Don't get worked up about it, but please, do be aware of the POSSIBLE scenario coming our way by Monday.

BUT RYAN SAYS HE'LL BE MORE RESPONSIBLE WITH HIS MONEY THIS TIME AROUND. HE'S EVEN THINKING ABOUT GOING FROM A DEBIT CARD. TO A CREDIT CARD.
"i really actually am. i hear so many bad things them but it's something that is necessary eventually."
GARY QUACKENBUSH IS AN ATTORNEY AND A REGULAR GUEST TALKING ABOUT FINANCIAL SOLUTIONS ON LOCAL RADIO STATIONS. HE SAYS RYAN AND HIS OTHER CHILDREN ALL STARTED WITH DEBIT CARDS FOR A REASON, THE MONEY COMES RIGHT OUT OF YOUR ACCOUNT. MORE LIKE CASH.
"if you pay cash it's done. if you had to pay off your credit card every week, you'd probably go, wow i have a lot of charges i have to pay off this week. but what happens, it's a month later. a month of all these, perhaps, irresponsible or negligence. at the end of the month you get the credit card bill and go, it's 400 dollars. i don't have that."
"it's important to know, if they buy lunch with their credit card habitually, that they are going to be paying off that lunch for a really long time."
NATHAN SCHMIDT WITH SAN DIEGO COUNTY CREDIT UNION SAYS MANY COLLEGE STUDENTS HAVE CREDIT CARDS. BUT THOSE CARDS SHOULD HAVE THEIR LIMIT.
"the credit card has a low apr and about a thousand dollars credit limit."
"so clearly as a parent you want to keep in touch with your kid's finances while they are away at college. so is it a good idea to cosign on a credit card?"

FORECAST OPEN
Return to index of stories...
THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
Again, things can and will change by then. We'll keep you up to date with the latest.

HE'S FIGHTING FOR SOLE CUSTODY.
A COURT APPOINTED PSYCHOLOGIST AGREED WITH VERST, RECOMMENDING A JUDGE MAKE
HER FATHER THE PRIMARY residential CUSTODIAL PARENT.
SOT/Neal Hersh, family law attorney - 20:02:41- I do think though that this
case was really extreme and the mom really might have gone over the edge a
little bit in choosing the costume and the seductive choices that she made.
BEFORE A JUDGE ISSUED A GAG ORDER LINDSAY JACKSON TOLD FOX NEWS THE COSTUME
WAS NEVER MEANT TO BE SEXUALIZED SAYING SHE'S A GOOD MOTHER.
"IF THAT MADDY NEEDS TO LIVE WITH HER DAD BECAUSE SHE
DOES PAGEANTS WITH ME, THEN THAT OPENS THE DOOR FOR ANY PARENT TO CHALLENGE

SOT/Dr. Wendy Walsh GMEM091711_007 - /I think it's absolute emotional
child abuse, to sexualize a young girl, as young as four, five, six or seven
,
before she has the psychological ability or the developmental ability to
understand what she's doing, is shameful.

NATS: Nyad jumping into water
For the third time in a year sixty two year old Diana Nyad dove into the
waters off Cuba Saturday hoping to swim all the way to Florida.
SOT DIANA NYAD
I think the team is 100 percent prepared.
Her route from Havana Cuba to the Florida Keys, in open waterwould be a
grueling, record-breaking *103 miles*.
At a pace of 50 strokes a minute.that's a 60 hour journey.
The challenges include: muscle fatigue.a powerful ocean current sharks.
without the protection of a shark cage.and, perhaps most dangerous of all:
the relentless threat of jellyfish and their excruciating stings.
Her operations chief explained part of Nyad's routine.
AUDIO OVER STILL/OPERATIONS CHIEF
Diana stops to eat every hour and a half. and every 45 minutes she'll hit a
quick hydration. these are not long stops.
It's a mission Nyad has tried unsuccessfully to accomplish for over three
decades - making her first attempt at age 28.
Last September, she made it 82 miles - swimming more than 40 hours, before
jellyfish stings forced her to abandon her journey
SOT DIANA NYAD
I knew I could do it - everybody helped me and I just couldn't get there.
But todayeven though she has a more protective swimming suit, she's already
had four painful encounters with jellyfish. Despite that, Diana Nyad is
still on courseand still singing.
Nat Diana singing
and prepared she insists.to swim through any challenges.
SOT DIANA NYAD
There's a reason no one's ever done it. / I may suffer some. I'm prepared
for that, too.
If she makes to it Key West, she'll get there right before her 63rd birthday
.on Wednesday.
