THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

STORMS FOR TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY

We've started the week on a great note. Blue skies, sunshine, and most of us didn't see a drop of rain.

Tuesday and Wednesday - we won't be as lucky. A feed of tropical moisture is set to push over, and that means slightly more cloud cover and definitely better rain chances.

They'll be very isolated during the day, but become scattered around the late afternoon to early evening. Heavy rains, gusty winds, and frequent lightning will be possible with any storm cell that blossoms.

Thursday through Saturday we'll see benign conditions. Winds will be from the east, and that will help pin the sea breeze along I-75. Do plan on isolated storms during the afternoon. Highs will be in the lower to mid 90s.

Very typical for August.

Our big concern for this week lies in the tropics. There's a tropical wave 1000 miles east of the Lesser Antilles, and the National Hurricane Center has given it an 80% chance of strengthening into a tropical cyclone over the next day or so.

LATE FRIDAY EVENING, CHARLOTTE COUNTY DEPUTIES RESPONDED TO THIS WAL-MART AFTER A CONCERNED PASSERBY CALLED IN ABOUT A MAN ASLEEP IN HIS CAR.

"THERE WAS A CALL COME IN ABOUT THE INDIVIDUAL ASLEEP IN HIS CAR AND THE CAR PARKED ERATICALLY." CAPT. JAMES KENVILLE/CHARLOTTE CO. SHERIFF'S OFFICE

STANDUP: WHAT CAUGHT THE ATTENTION OF DEPUTIES WAS THE WAY THE CAR WAS PARKED: HALF UP ON THE CURB, HALF IN A HANDICAP PARKING SPOT. WHEN DEPUTIES APPROACHED THE CAR, THEY SAW THE MAN INSIDE HOLDING AN AEROSOL CAN. THEY SAY THE CAR WAS STILL RUNNING, HE TOOK A HUFF OF THE CAN, TRIED TO PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE TO GET AWAY.

"WELL HE'D BEEN HUFFING AND PASSED OUT FOR WHATEVER REASON." CAPT. JAMES KENVILLE/CHARLOTTE CO. SHERIFF'S OFFICE

CAPTAIN JAMES KENVILLE SAYS 52-YEAR-OLD JOHN CRIDER WAS THE MAN SITTING IN THE FRONT SEAT GETTING HIGH WITH CLEANING SUPPLIES.

DEPUTIES ARRESTED HIM AND FOUND MORE THAN TEN-THOUSAND DOLLARS IN CASH AND SYNTHETIC DRUGS IN HIS POCKETS.

KENVILLE SAYS DEPUTIES HANDED THE CAR OVER TO ITS OWNER, CRIDER'S GIRLFIREND WHO WAS SHOPPING IN WALMART AT THE TIME.

"SUBSEQUENTLY, WE HAD ANOTHER RUN-IN WITH HER AFTER THE FACT" CAPT. JAMES KENVILLE/CHARLOTTE CO. SHERIFF'S OFFICE

JUST THREE HOURS LATER, DEPUTIES WERE BACK AT WAL-MART AFTER EMPLOYEES REPORTED A THEFT.

THEY TOLD DEPUTIES, THE SUSPECT PUSHED A CART FULL OF GOODS OUT OF THE STORE AND DROVE AWAY IN THE SAME CAR CRIDER WAS FOUND IN.

THIS TIME AUTHORITES SAY DENISE ISAACS-HALL WAS DRIVING. DEPUTIES TRACKED HER DOWN AT HOME AND ARRESTED HER FOR STEALING.

"IT GOT UP OVER $300" CAPT. JAMES KENVILLE/CHARLOTTE CO. SHERIFF'S OFFICE

CAPTAIN KENVILLE SAYS THE WHOLE SITUATION IS PRETTY UNIQUE.

"IT'S UNUSUAL THAT YOU'D ARREST ONE AND WHAT MAKES IT MORE IS THAT YOU END UP AT THE SAME STORE." CAPT. JAMES KENVILLE/CHARLOTTE CO. SHERIFF'S OFFICE

CRIDER IS CHARGED WITH INHALING OR INGESTING HARMFUL CHECMICALS AND RESISTING AN OFFICER. ISAACS-HALL IS ACCUSED OF GRAND THEFT.

Joanne Camarro, neighbor

5030 "I can't remember the sound because I was in a deep sleep but then I heard the fire trucks."

Firefighters raced to this Naples Park house before dawn broke.

They battled flames as high as 30 feet for almost an hour -- at the foreclosed property.

Camarro, neighbor

5300 "it's sad sight. They took the bricks off!"

Neighbor Joanne Camarro recalls -- the family who once lived here -- was forced out because a job loss left them unable to pay the mortgage.

Camarro, neighbor

5217 "when I came back they had trucks here and some in my driveway. With the furniture loaded, they were going. They said goodbye to me and we're going to a motel."

It's an increasingly sad situation -- playing out across southwest Florida.

Since April, we've reported at least 5 fires destroyed vacant or foreclosed properties -- like this charlotte county house.

Deputy Chief Sal D'Angelo, North Naples Fire and Rescue

0220 "from the fire prevention standpoint, it's hard because we don't have any jurisdiction."

Sal D'Angelo with north Naples explains they don't have any way of policing how people or banks -- care for forgotten properties.

He tells us -- neighbors of vacant homes can never be too cautious.

D'Angelo 0325 "keep your property well maintained. Your grass mowed, any combustibles put away, tree limbs, clean your gutters."

As for this fire which the fire Marshall believes sparked in the attic, it remains under investigation.

The massive hole in the roof and damage here doesn't just show the fire's rage -- it points to yet another broken American dream.

Camarro, neighbor

5159 "they were having a hard time but nobody ever called them back and then they were gone." Return to index of stories...

SO WHAT'S BEHIND THE INCREASE??

JESSICA BRADY AAA

:55 the question is what reason is *not behind this. everything from increased tensions in the middle east to peak hurricane season, domestic supply disruptions and various economic news both domestic and abroad have all contributed to the rise in pump prices 10

IT SEEMS REASONABLE TO THINK ISSUES AT HOME ARE HURTING PRICES.

DRIVER JUNE VENGHAUS 7:18:38 right now i think about the drought in the midwest and the loss of all the corn products that we need in our country 43

LESS CORN MEANS LESS ETHANOL --
