THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
ALL EYES ON ISAAC
Tropical Storm Isaac has started its path to the northwest.
Haiti is not hindering Isaac at all, and that leaves a window for further strengthening before hitting Cuba. Isaac's maturing will indeed be tampered by Cuba, but the question is how much?
We do know one thing - once it hits the Florida Straits and the Gulf of Mexico - it will regain strength. Could we be dealing with a CAT 1 hurricane by early next week? Yes.
Models have been trending to the west with Isaac's track, but today they have shifted east considerably. Four reliable models bring Isaac very close to southwest Florida and each model only differs within 50 miles of one another. It bears watching.
Don't let your guard down. Impacts of a tropical system can be felt up to 200 miles from the center.
If you do not have a plan… The time to make one is now. You can't wait until Sunday.
Our weather tomorrow will be fine, a decent amount of sunshine and a couple of stray showers.
The changes begin Sunday.
The clouds will increase, the winds will become more brisk, and, come the evening hours, we're seeing outer rain bands.
Isaac will be felt from Sunday night into Monday night.
It's a process, and again, do not focus on the "center."
Things can change, and this system needs to be monitored closely. Please refer to NBC2 on-air and online for the latest information.

JAMES THOMPSON LIVES IN A SMALL NEIGHBORHOOD IN CHARLOTTE COUNTY, NEAR THE LEE COUNTY BORDER.
HE LOVES HIS HOME. BUT WHEN THE POWER GOES OUT HERE, IT CAN TAKE SOME TIME TO GET IT BACK ON.
WHEN HURRICANE CHARLEY HIT HE WAS WITHOUT POWER FOR 3 WEEKS.
James Thompson 48:49-00 "It was hot, very humid my neighbor had a gas grill, so that's how we cooked up our coffee in the morning."
HE'S HOPING IT WON'T COME TO THAT AGAIN.
BUT POWER COMPANIES, ARE PREPARING FOR THE WORST.

AND SAYS THERE IS A PRIORITY WHEN IT COMES TO RESTORING POWER.

NEXT, THEY'LL RESTORE MAJOR BUSINESS AREAS THAT HAVE GAS STATIONS AND GROCERY STORES.
THEN THEY GET TO THE RESIDENTIAL AREAS. RESTORING THE CIRCUITS THAT AFFECT THE MOST PEOPLE FIRST, MOVING ON DOWN TO INDIVIDUAL HOMES.
IT COULD TAKE A DAY. IT COULD TAKE A WEEK OR SOMETIMES LONGER.
06:41-47 "They will cause power outages, so we want people to be prepared and be safe about being prepared."
BE PREPARED, BUT HOPE FOR NOTHING TO HAPPEN.
JAMES THOMPSON 51:04-06 "I hope not, I hope not."
