TROPICAL STORM ISAAC CONTINUING TO BRING US RAIN.
YOU'RE LOOKING LIVE AT DOPPLER RADAR.

"Tropical Storm Isaac skirting by SWFL"
We'll still be feeling the fringe effects of Isaac through the day as the storm skirts by to our west, but weather conditions are expected to gradually improve through the day.
The center of Isaac will stay a couple hundred miles offshore, but the storm's circulation and moisture will be far reaching enough to bring in some off and on showers this morning and even this afternoon.
While the threat of severe weather should stay on the low side, there's still some concern for isolated tornadoes as broken bands of rain continue to spiral around Isaac and into Southwest Florida. A Tornado Watch is in effect for Southwest Florida through 9 a.m., and this may be extended later depending on how the tornado threat plays out.
As far as our winds go, we'll still experience breezy and gusty conditions today with peak winds reaching 40-45 mph. Sustained winds should stay between 10-20 mph. During the first half of the day, our winds will be out of the southeast but will then shift to the south and southwest through the afternoon. With a strong onshore flow expected later, we'll see the possibility of higher than normal tides and a surge of 2-4 feet. The areas most susceptible for surge will be locations from Marco Island to Everglades City, where the surge may be on the higher end of that range.
By tonight our winds will subside, but we'll notice a stiff breeze at times. A few passing showers will also be possible as we go through the overnight hours, especially for areas close to the coast.
Winds will continue to die down Tuesday, but some of Isaac's wrap-around moisture will still spark scattered showers and even a few thunderstorms during the afternoon
We'll notice a fair about of cloud cover today and Tuesday, but sunshine should also mix in through the day as the cloud clover becomes more broken.
Isaac's moisture will become less and less evident around here for the second half of the week as we get more sun with just a few hit-or-miss showers.
By the upcoming weekend, our weather will return to "normal" for late summer in Southwest Florida. We'll see more sun, highs in the 90s, and some scattered afternoon storms.

BUT AS ATHENA JONES REPORTS, PRIVACY EXPERTS SAY THERE ARE MANY SECURITY CONCERNS WITH THESE APPS.
Return to index of stories...
ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL, SMART PHONES AND TABLETS ARE EVERYWHERE.
NOW THE OBAMA AND ROMNEY TEAMS ARE TAKING THIS TECHNOLOGY A STEP FURTHER -- WITH "APPS" THAT HELP SUPPORTERS KEEP TRACK OF CAMPAIGN ACTIVITIES AND MORE.
BUT THE APPS ALSO RAISE PRIVACY CONCERNS.
THE ROMNEY CAMPAIGN'S APP -- WHICH ALLOWS USERS TO SIGN IN THROUGH FACEBOOK -- CAN MINE INFORMATION FROM THE USER'S FRIENDS ON THE SITE.
THE OBAMA CAMPAIGN APP PROVIDES DATA TO HELP VOLUNTEERS CANVASS.
"HERE WE ARE IN THE GEORGETOWN NEIGHBORHOOD OF WASHINGTON, DC. THE OBAMA CAMPAIGN APP PLANTS BLUE FLAGS AT THE HOMES OF REGISTERED DEMOCRATS. WE'RE GOING TO GO SEE IF WE CAN TALK TO SOME OF THESE VOTERS."
"Does this concern you. The fact that this is available, someone could walk up to your door."
"I'm concerned, sure, yeah, I'm very concerned. I mean, you did it this morning, you walked up to my door, you knew where I was and you knew what it was all about. I had no idea."
IT'S NOT JUST ABOUT MAPS.THESE APPS CAN ALSO GET ACCESS TO A LOT OF INFORMATION FROM THOSE WHO DOWNLOAD THEM.
WE ASKED PRIVACY EXPERT JUSTIN BROOKMAN ABOUT THIS.
"Contact lists, friends, telephone numbers. Anything you do with your phone is designed to be exposed to the applications that you download, so whatever on there they think might be valuable, as far as data mining, as far as figuring out how to tailor a message to you, as far as figuring out who's going to give the most money, they have the ability to get. A lot of it you can't say "no" to."
WHILE THE ROMNEY CAMPAIGN DECLINED TO COMMENT, THE OBAMA CAMPAIGN SAID:
"This campaign has always and will continue to take great care with the information that people share with us. In this instance, all of the information available comes from publicly available data and the campaign can take legal action against anyone misusing this public data."
NOT EVERYBODY IS WORRIED
ANOTHER GEORGETOWN RESIDENT WE FOUND USING THE OBAMA CAMPAIGN APP CALLED IT "HARMLESS.
"Thirty years ago, if you worked for any party, any campaign, and you wanted to find out where are the registered Democrats in Georgetown. You would go downtown, make a copy of everybody's registration and go through the annoyance of looking for street addresses. Half a days work, now, 30 seconds. The bottom line is I do not feel that my privacy is threatened by this."

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

ISAAC CROSSED THE MIDDLE AND UPPER KEYS SUNDAY AS A TROPICAL STORM.
PLENTY OF WIND AND RAIN, LIKE WHAT YOU SEE HERE IN MARATHON, BUT LITTLE ELSE, AND THAT'S NOT ENOUGH TO KEEP THE LOCALS INDOORS.
HOW IS THIS WHEN YOU DO IT IN A FIELD RATHER THAN IN THE WATER? "Dumb."
A FEW MILES NORTH IN KEY LARGO: MORE THRILL-SEEKERS.
BEFORE THE RAIN HAD EVEN STOPPED -- BOATERS RIGHT BACK ON THE WATER.
".a break, then we had a chance to come out here and play a little bit, then we'll put it back in and wait for the next swell to go by."
THE DAMAGE FROM ISAAC APPEARS MINIMAL TO THE MIDDLE AND UPPER KEYS.
THIS SAILBOAT WASHED ASHORE IN ISLAMORADA.
A SPEED LIMIT SIGN AND SOME BRANCHED DOWNED IN KEY LARGO.
SOME POPULAR ATTRACTIONS LIKE THIS BAR WHERE TOURISTS CAN FEED THE FISH: CLOSED.
BUT THAT SEEMS TO BE THE EXTENT OF IT.

"I've always been a proactive person rather than a reactive person. I figure why not get it done, have it done."
THIS TIME, IT WORKED -- ISAAC, MOSTLY A WIND AND RAIN MAKER, CREATING MORE BOREDOM THAN DAMAGE.
"Mostly, we just try to find something to do, because we can't go spear fishing -- anything on the water, so we just try to find something to do on land, and this is what it ultimately leads up to."
