TRACKING TROPICAL STORM ISAAC.A BRAND NEW ADVISORY IS JUST RELEASED.
BUT THE BIG CONCERN IS FOR THE GULF COAST.
YOU'RE LOOKING LIVE AT ADLIB AND THE SATELITE TRACK OF THE STORM AS IT APPROACHES MISSISSIPPI AND LOUISIANA.

RESIDENTS ALONG THE GULF COAST HAVE A CHOICE TO MAKE -- LEAVE TOWN, OR GET READY TO RIDE OUT THE STORM.
FEMA SAY IT'S ALREADY ON THE GROUND.
We don't wait for disasters to be declared or requests to come in, we're already in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama, and we have supplies coming in.
GENE KOHRMAN HAS LIVED ON THE GULF FOR 20 YEARS AND HAS BEEN THROUGH HIS SHARE OF STORMS. HE'S STAYING PUT.
It's loud, it's noisy, you're going to be knocked around, and if you're not used to it it's going to scare the dickens out of you.
IN NEW ORLEANS, ISAAC IS STIRRING UP MEMORIES OF HURRICANE KATRINA -- WHICH HIT SEVEN YEARS AGO TOMORROW.
BUT MAYOR MITCH LANDRIEU SAYS AFTER 10 BILLION DOLLARS IN IMPROVEMENTS TO THE LEVEE SYSTEM, THE CITY IS PREPARED TO WEATHER THE STORM.
STILL HE'S WARNING RESIDENTS TO USE COMMON SENSE.
A category one and category two storm can bring significant damage in terms of wind, water, or electric, and a lot of loss of life comes from people being careless and not paying attention.
AT THIS HOTEL IN GULFPORT, MISSISSIPPI, THE STORM SURGE FROM KATRINA ROSE AS HIGH AS THE SECOND STORY.
A lot of people who've been here through Katrina, they're going to hunker down and do their best to be ready for what the storm's going to bring.
THE HOTEL'S ENGINEER DOESN'T EXPECT ISAAC WILL BE NEARLY AS DESTRUCTIVE, BUT LIKE MOST RESIDENTS ALONG THE GULF, HE'S BRACING FOR THE WORST, AND HOPING FOR THE BEST.

METEOROLOGIST KIRA MINER JOINS US RIGHT NOW WITH THE BRAND NEW UPDATE ON WHERE ITS HEADED.

Even though Tropical Storm Isaac continues to move farther away from Southwest Florida, we'll still be on the outer edge of the storm's circulation today, keeping those hit or miss tropical showers around through the day. Any shower that moves in will move very swiftly from south to north at a pace of about 40-50 mph. A coastal flood advisory is in effect through this afternoon with tide expected to rise 1-2 feet above average, and we'll also continue to see pretty high surf in the Gulf.
The good news about today is we expect less cloud cover and more sunshine, but our sky will have the potential to go from blue to gray very quickly with the scattered tropical showers around. The extra sunshine should be able to send our temperatures into the upper 80s through the afternoon.
Winds won't be quite as strong today, but we'll still notice some gusty breezes, especially along the coast. Our wind will be out of the south today between 10-20 mph with gusts potentially reaching 25-30 mph.
Our weather will gradually transition into a more normal pattern as we go through the remainder of the week. By Wednesday, we'll still see some wrap around moisture from Isaac bring in some tropical showers, but we'll also notice a nice mix of sun and clouds.
From Thursday into the weekend, we'll get back to our dry, sunny mornings and hot afternoons as well as those late day scattered showers and storms.

BECAUSE OF THIS STORM, WORKERS HERE HAD TO PREP BARNS AND FENCES, AND MOVE 50 HORSES TO HIGHER GROUND.
BUT THERE IS STILL A BIG CONCERN HERE, THAT'S BECAUSE A CREEK THAT RUNS THROUGH THE PROPERTY IS VERY CLOSE TO CRESTING.

ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THAT CREEK IS A PASTURE AT HIGHER GROUND WHERE THEY'VE HAD TO MOVE MANY OF THE HORSES.

3 weeks after scientists at JPL erupted with excitement, the celebration is
tempered, but they're celebrating nonetheless.
Today, they showed off a new mosaic -- spectacular enhanced images from the
surface of Mars captured by the Curiosity rover.
John Grotzinger -- MSL Scientist "When those of us saw that image get the
feeling that's what I'm talking about. That is why we picked this landing
sight."
Saying it looked like terrain right out of a movie, scientists' own
curiosity is piqued by Mt Sharp and some tilted layers that they compared to
the Grand Canyon.
They say cameras discovered something they were ignorant to, something they
weren't expecting. But getting to the base of Mt Sharp for a better look
will take about a year a half.
Mike Malin -- Mast Cam Investigator "Basically this is ultimate goal.
Place to get to. Where wanna be. 10 km away. Take rover 100 days to get
there. Not drive flat out because science to do as well."
Scientists showed how data transmission from Mars has improved - with the
first human voice recording ever transmitted from another planet.
Dave Lavery -- NASA "We hope the words of the administrator will give
inspiration to someone who's alive today and will become the first person to
stand on the surface of mars. Like the great Neil armstrong, they'll be
able to speak about the first person at that point with the next giant step
in exploration."
As they showed more images of Curiosity's tracks, scientists said they're
also beginning to sniff and analyze gasses on Mars.
John Hartung stand up -- Now that scientists can boast they have the sights
, sounds and smells of Mars, the next big step will come when they start
driving the Curiosity rover.

You look at what's happened in the last 200 years, this house should be high enough to sustain anything we've seen in the last 200 years.
AN EYE ON THE FUTURE BUT PAINFULLY MINDFUL OF THE DEVASTATION OF JUST 7 YEARS AGO. BRIDGES, ROADS, SEWERS ALL HAD TO BE REBUILT.
But nowhere are the changes to Bay St. Louis more obvious than right here on the waterfront. When Katrina hit, the city's old sea wall stood at about 8 feet high. That wasn't nearly enough to stop the storm surge. So when they rebuilt, this is what they put in its place.a pile of cement and steel more than double what it used to be.

PACING A MAIN INTERSECTION, WEARING A SIGN STATING 'SMOKED POT, GOT CAUGHT! DON'T I LOOK COOL? NOT!' AND 'LEARN FROM ME, DON'T DO DRUGS' ISN'T EXACTLY THE WAY 13-YEAR-OLD BRANDON MATHISON PLANNED ON SPENDING HIS FRIDAY NIGHT. BUT AFTER HIS MOTHER SAYS HE WAS BUSTED THIS PAST WEEKEND FOR SMOKING MARIJUANA WITH HIS FRIENDS, THIS IS THE PUNISHMENT SHE CAME UP WITH.
Time outs and taking things away from him just doesn't work any more. Sometimes a little public humility is what they need nowadays to get a point across. If this works for him and maybe saves one or two other students from thinking about picking this stuff up, then I feel like I've done my job as a parent.
AND WHEN SHE FIRST TOLD HIM ABOUT THE PUNISHMENT.
He was kind of embarrassed before we even got out here. He was like 'You're serious? You're going to have me stand on the road with a sign?' I was like 'Yes sir, if this is what it takes.' I don't think he believed me at first. I really don't.
BUT SHE DIDN'T BACK DOWN. HAVING HIM WALK THE INTERSECTION TWO TIMES THIS WEEK. AND BOY HAS ALSO BEEN DRAWING SOME ATTENTION.
All kinds of looks. There are people stopping to talk to me. Mostly they are yelling at me to stop.
A LESSON BRANDON IS NOT LIKELY TO FORGET.
No ma'am.
I don't want to do this again.
WHILE HE CERTAINLY ISN'T ENJOYING THIS PUNISHMENT, HE SEEMS TO BE GETTING THE MESSAGE.
I got to change my life and stop.
IT MAY NOT BE YOUR TYPICAL PUNISHMENT, BUT APRIL IS HOPING IT WORKS.
I never in a million years pictured my 13 year old getting busted for marijuana. I'm always bragging what a great kid he is. He is great in school. I just never pictured this ever. We as parents have to step it up, we have to protect our children and if this is what it takes, it's what I'm going to do.
SHE'S HOPING THIS WILL BE A LIFE-LONG LESSON THAT KEEPS BRANDON ON THE RIGHT ROAD.
