Even though Tropical Storm Isaac continues to move farther away from Southwest Florida, we'll still be on the outer edge of the storm's circulation today, keeping those hit or miss tropical showers around through the day. Any shower that moves in will move very swiftly from south to north at a pace of about 40-50 mph. A coastal flood advisory is in effect through this afternoon with tide expected to rise 1-2 feet above average, and we'll also continue to see pretty high surf in the Gulf.
The good news about today is we expect less cloud cover and more sunshine, but our sky will have the potential to go from blue to gray very quickly with the scattered tropical showers around. The extra sunshine should be able to send our temperatures into the upper 80s through the afternoon.
Winds won't be quite as strong today, but we'll still notice some gusty breezes, especially along the coast. Our wind will be out of the south today between 10-20 mph with gusts potentially reaching 25-30 mph.
Our weather will gradually transition into a more normal pattern as we go through the remainder of the week. By Wednesday, we'll still see some wrap around moisture from Isaac bring in some tropical showers, but we'll also notice a nice mix of sun and clouds.
From Thursday into the weekend, we'll get back to our dry, sunny mornings and hot afternoons as well as those late day scattered showers and storms.

ISAAC HITTING LOUISIANA - OUR AFFECTS FADE
The wind and rain from Isaac continues to subside and by tomorrow our weather returns to normal for August. It looks like Isaac will make landfall tonight very near the Mississippi River delta and continue to move over, or near, New Orleans. Flooding rains and hurricane force winds will make for a long night in the Big Easy.
Our weather tonight looks mainly quiet but still a bit breezy. A few passing showers are possible this evening with winds at 10 - 20 mph pushing the rain quickly from north to south. The low tonight will be just under 80 degrees.
Tomorrow, the winds come around to a more southeasterly direction and the morning hours looks mostly sunny. A few clouds will build by the afternoon and there is a 30 - 40% chance for some thunderstorms to develop.
Looking ahead to the rest of the week and the holiday weekend we will continue to track fair skies in the morning and afternoon thunderstorms. Over the next week it looks like there is a chance for thunderstorms each day except Friday. Computer models keep that day mainly dry - but we'll have to see about that! It's back to typical August/September weather.
The tropical Atlantic still features a couple of systems to watch; however, the long-range forecast take developing storms away from the United States as of right now.

ONE OF THE PRIMARY CONCERNS WITH THIS SLOW MOVING SYSTEM IS THE MASSIVE AMOUNT OF RAIN IT COULD BRING TO A CITY ALREADY BELOW SEA LEVEL.
"The forecast shows there could be as much as anywhere between 10 and 16 inches of rain in some of these areas."
IN SOME AREAS. THE BATTLE AGAINST MOTHER NATURE WILL BE HAND-TO-HAND COMBAT.
NATIONAL GUARD TROOPS HAVE MOVED-IN TO HANDLE THAT.
"Whatever the situation may be, we're prepared. We have a plan and we're waiting to execute that based on what happens."
IT IS ALL STARTING TO HAPPEN - RIGHT NOW.
ISAAC. FLEXING ITS MUSCLES. AS IT MOVES INTO AN AREA THAT HAS BEEN WATCHING AND WAITING FOR DAYS.

THIS ENTIRE PASTURE HERE WAS FLOODED.
MOST OF THAT HAS RECEDED, BUT THERE IS STILL RISING WATER NEAR BY THAT THREATENS TO FLOOD IT AGAIN. WHICH COULD MAKE IT VERY DIFFICULT TO CARE FOR THESE HORSES.
HEATHER AND MICHAEL WALSH SPEND THEIR DAYS REHABILITATING SICK AND ABUSED HORSES.
A TASK THAT TROPICAL STORM ISAAC, TURNED INTO A MAJOR CHALLENGE.
SOT "THE SMALL PASTURE, THIS PASTURE HERE DURING THE STORM WAS COMPLETELY UNDER WATER. IT'S MOSTLY DRAINED DOWN NOW, AS YOU CAN SEE THERE ARE A FEW WET SPOTS STILL."
THE WATER THAT FLOODED THIS PASTURE HAS RECEDED.
BUT MORE WATER IS RISING.
STU "THIS CREEK IS THEIR MAIN CONCERN NOW, IT'S NORMALLY ONLY ABOUT 3 OR 4 FEET WIDE AND A FEW INCHES DEEP, AS YOU CAN TELL, IT'S ABOUT 25 TO 30 FEET WIDE NOW AND A GOOD 3 FEET DEEP IN THE CENTER, IF IT CRESTS, IT WILL FLOOD THE REST OF THEIR PROPERTY."
"ALL OF THIS WILL BE UNDER WATER."
MEANING THEY'LL HAVE TO MOVE THESE HORSES TO ANOTHER PASTURE AT HIGHER GROUND. WHERE THEY ALREADY KEEP DOZENS OF RESCUES.
THE PROBLEM , THAT PASTURE IS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THIS CREEK.
AND THEIR WATER IS TRANSPORTED BY THIS TRUCK.
"IT'S ALREADY DIFFICULT, I CAN STILL GET THROUGH, I CAN STILL GET THROUGH AND WE TAKE WATER UP THERE EVERY DAY TO THE HORSES, BECAUSE THERE IS NO POND OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT UP THERE, SO WE HAVE TO BRING WATER UP TO THOSE HORSES, BECAUSE IT'S AN 80 ACRE PASTURE AT EXTREMELY HIGH GROUND. UNFORTUNATELY YOU HAVE TO CROSS THE RIVER TO GET THERE."
"PRAY FOR NO RAIN."
TAG:
SHEET FLOW IS STILL CAUSING THE CREEK WATER TO RISE.
MORE RAIN WOULD MAKE THAT WORSE.
IF THEY AREN'T ABLE TO GET WATER UP TO THE HORSES, THE WORST CASE SCENARIO. THEY WOULD OPEN THE FENCE AND LEAD THEM TO THE CREEK, BUT THAT IS A PROBLEM, BECAUSE THEY WOULD NO LONGER BE CONTAINED BY A FENCE.
