Today's Weather Story
THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
Our Weather Returning to "Normal"
Hurricane Isaac is meandering slowly near and over the coastline of Louisiana this morning. Large amounts of rain, strong winds and storm surge will all be problems along the northern Gulf Coast due to Isaac. This system will be a slow mover making those effects last longer.
For us here in Southwest Florida as Isaac has moved away from our area, our local weather has been improving. Winds will be coming in from the south-southwest today, pumping in plenty of heat and humidity. By tomorrow those winds will be turning more southeasterly, helping our weather pattern return to "normal". We'll have about 30-40% coverage of afternoon storms this afternoon and each afternoon continuing right on through your holiday weekend.
As far as the tropics, we've already talked about Isaac. There is also Tropical Storm Kirk, but this one is in the mid-Atlantic and won't have any impact on Southwest Florida. There is another tropical wave almost 600 miles west-southwest of the Cape Verde Islands. This is one that we will be tracking for a number of days. It does have a medium chance for development in the next couple of days.

Full Forecast
