THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
Now that Isaac is well removed from Southwest Florida, our weather continues to improve as we get back to a typical late August pattern.
Temperatures this morning will be quite warm and muggy with some high cloudiness overhead. More sunshine to start means warmer afternoons as highs climb into the lower 90s with heat index values in the low 100s.
A stray shower along the coast can't be ruled out first thing in the morning, but with high pressure beginning to nose it's way in across the Peninsula, isolated showers/storms should hold off until the afternoon under a partly sunny sky.
Tonight, a few clouds will linger overhead with mostly dry conditions and lows will range from 80° along the coast to the middle 70s deeper inland.
As we round out the work week and head into a holiday weekend our mornings should start off sunny with the chance for isolated showers or storms each and every afternoon.
As far as the tropics, Isaac is still a tropical storm and continues to bring heavy rains and winds along the northern Gulf Coast as it drifts off to the north. There is also Tropical Storm Kirk, but this one is in the mid-Atlantic and will recurve out to sea without having any impact on Southwest Florida. There is another tropical wave almost 800 miles west of the Cape Verde Islands. The National Hurricane Center is giving this a high chance of development over the next day or two, however most of the models are predicting it will take a similar path to Kirk and stay well out to sea.

WHEN OSAMA BIN LADEN WAS KILLED LAST YEAR, THE WHITE HOUSE STUMBLED AS IT TOLD THE STORY ABOUT THE RAID.
FIRST CLAIMING BIN LADEN RESISTED, THEN SAYING HE WASN'T ARMED.
NOW A NEW BOOK BY A NAVY SEAL WHO WAS ON THE MISSION PRESENTS OTHER DETAILS.
BRIAN ROSS BRINGS US NEW FINDINGS FROM A VERY CONTROVERSIAL BOOK.
Return to index of stories...
The first details provided by the White House and the military to ABC News
and others described a scene in which bin Laden was shot by Navy SEALS as he
retreated to his bedroom, his youngest wife by his side, making a move
interpreted as resistance, and then shot in the chest and above the left eye
.
Jay Carney: And indeed he did resist.
But that's not true, according to the new book, by one of the Navy Seals
writing under the name Mark Owen.
He says bin Laden was shot in the side of the head as he peered out his
bedroom door.
According to book excerpts seen by US officials, Owen writes that the Seals
found bin Laden twitching and convulsing after he was shot with his wives
wailing over his body.
He and another Seal, "trained our lasers on his chest and fired several
rounds. The bullets tore into him, slamming his body into the floor until he
was motionless."
Two weapons were found in the room, but they were not loaded, according to
the accounts.
He hadn't even prepared a defense. He had no intention of fighting, Owen
reportedly wrote.
Richard Clarke: Since there was no camera running up the stairs with the
Seals we'll never know what actually happened.
One other note from the book, with one helicopter down, the flight back to
the base was so crowded, one Navy SEAL actually sat on the chest of the dead
bin Laden.
President Obama honored and praised the courage of the Seal team
President Obama from speech: job well done. Job well done.
Although the author reportedly wrote:
None of us were huge fans of Obama. We respected him as the commander in
chief of the military and for giving us the green light on the mission.

Ryan promised to in his words repeal Obamacare. And said if the President
wants a debate over Medicare, bring it on.
Ryan became visibly emotional as he spoke of his mom Betty - proudly sitting

And of the father he lost at 16 to a heart attack.
And he reached out to the young people of today- with a dig-aimed at those
posters celebrating hope and change four years ago:
RYAN SOT: College graduates should not have to live out their 20s in their
childhood bedrooms, staring up at fading Obama posters and wondering when
they can move out and get going with life."
And in a return to the political stage - Former Secretary of State
Condoleezza Rice-welcomed back by a roaring crowd:
RICE SOT: "We do not have a choice we cannot be reluctant to lead - and you
cannot lead from behind."
And speaking of her own childhood and about the parents who taught her to
dream:
RICE SOT: "They have her absolutely believe that even though she can't have
a hamburger at the Woolworth's lunch counter - she can be President of the
United States if she wanted to be and she becomes Secretary of State.
Cheers."

does it feel a little strange when he's not being mentioned?
BUSH: no, no it doesn't. I think he's smart, my brother understands
politics pretty pretty well. / The president has spent a lot of time and
energy around this notion that I can't do anything about it - it's all Bush'
s fault. / Now we're in year 4 of a presidency - think back into American
history - think of a president that is blaming his predecessor in the 4th
year.*** So, why encourage the bad behavior and I think my brother is smart
to stay away.
SAWYER TRACK: Governor Bush has also been an impassioned voice on the need
for the Republican party to change tone. He calls for inclusiveness and by
the way, his wife, the mother of his three children, was born in Mexico.
SAWYER: you said recently and quoted here, the conservative cause would be
the governing philosophy as far as the eye could see and that it's doable if
we just stopped acting stupid
BUSH: the idea's not really a radical idea or one that's too deep - you need
to get 50% of the vote to win /160326 the good news is that Latino voters
and Asian voters i would say share many of the values that conservatives
embrace - abt the family being the most powerful political unit in society -
the need to reform education so there's access to oppty, small biz driving
economic prosperity - a strong nat'l defense all of these things they are

SAWYER: Do your children consider themselves Hispanic American or do they
want a time and they want it right now when there's no distinction?
BUSH: I don't know / they're Hispanics on one level but they're as American
as apple pie - I mean let's face it their uncle's a president, their
grandfather's a president / Now to make it more complicated Diane.my
granddaughter - her mom is Canadian of Iraqi origin - so when she goes
through the Census track 20 years from now, - she'll be a Texan, Mexican,
Canadian, Iraqi American - and so in that box it'll probably be - "not
applicable" and that's the America that we should aspire to.
