Today's Weather Story
THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
Now that Isaac is well removed from Southwest Florida, our weather continues to improve as we get back to a typical late August pattern.
Temperatures this morning will be quite warm and muggy with some high cloudiness overhead. More sunshine to start means warmer afternoons as highs climb into the lower 90s with heat index values in the low 100s.
A stray shower along the coast can't be ruled out first thing in the morning, but with high pressure beginning to nose it's way in across the Peninsula, isolated showers/storms should hold off until the afternoon under a partly sunny sky.
Tonight, a few clouds will linger overhead with mostly dry conditions and lows will range from 80° along the coast to the middle 70s deeper inland.
As we round out the work week and head into a holiday weekend our mornings should start off sunny with the chance for isolated showers or storms each and every afternoon.
As far as the tropics, Isaac is still a tropical storm and continues to bring heavy rains and winds along the northern Gulf Coast as it drifts off to the north. There is also Tropical Storm Kirk, but this one is in the mid-Atlantic and will recurve out to sea without having any impact on Southwest Florida. There is another tropical wave almost 800 miles west of the Cape Verde Islands. The National Hurricane Center is giving this a high chance of development over the next day or two, however most of the models are predicting it will take a similar path to Kirk and stay well out to sea.

TAKE A LOOK AT THESE GAS PRICES WE SPOTTED TODAY.
AND YOU'LL SEE THE PAIN AT THE PUMP IS ONLY GETTING WORSE.
MELISSA PERRY, UPSET OVER PRICES: filling up this gas guzzler is about a hundred bucks so for it to keep going up is just really disappointing
AND THAT HAS DRIVERS LIKE MELISSA PERRY SEARCHING FOR THE CHEAPEST GAS.
MELISSA PERRY, UPSET OVER PRICES: I saw this one was $3.83 and I see that one's $3.85 so I Guess I better not keep going down the street because its just going up
BUT ACCORDING TO A TIME MAGAZINE REPORT.
YOU CAN STOP THE DRIVING AROUND.
THEY CLAIM TIMING IS EVERYTHING WHEN IT COMES TO FINDING THE BEST PRICE.
according to the article the best day of the week to gas up is today Wednesday before prices can go up for the weekend.the best time of day to gas up is in the morning that's because station managers don't have a chance to check competitor pricing before you hit the pump
WE TOOK THE REPORT TO LOCAL MARKET ANALYST NICK CHLUMSKY.
HE BELIEVES THERE IS SOME TRUTH TO THE ARTICLE'S CLAIMS.
NICK CHLUMSKY, MARKET ANALYST: it's the day before a lot of leisurely travelers fill up the car for that long weekend typically starting on a thursday or a friday
HOWEVER WHILE HE AGREES IN THEORY WITH BOTH TIPS.
CHLUMSKY CLAIMS IT'S IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER NOT EVERY GAS STATION WORKS THE SAME.
SO DON'T THINK THE ADVICE IS SET IN STONE.
ESPECIALLY IN A FLUID OIL AND GAS MARKET.
NICK CHLUMSKY, MARKET ANALYST: if headquarters wanted to change prices with a push of a button they certainly have all the demographic and geographic information to do just that

Full Forecast
