Today's Weather Story
THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
After a wet and windy start to the work week, our weather will be trending toward a drier than normal pattern.
It will be another warm and muggy start to the day, but our skies will be sunny with a few high thin cirrus clouds drifting overhead. Temperatures will be quick to warm as they climb from the upper 70s to the middle 90s during the afternoon.
High pressure will continue to flex its muscle across the Florida Peninsula, thus bringing a more stable atmosphere overhead. We'll see the chance for an isolated shower or storm during the peak heating of the day along the sea breeze as it begins to work its way inland, however many of us will stay hot and dry under partly sunny skies.
Tonight, skies remain mostly clear with lows settling into the middle to upper 70s.
Our hot and mainly dry weather pattern will hold through the holiday weekend with sunny starts and a few spotty showers during the afternoon, while temperatures range from the low to mid 90s.
In the tropics, the remnants of Isaac continue to bring the threat for heavy rainfall across the Mississippi River Valley. Hurricane Kirk and Tropical Storm Leslie will not be a threat to Southwest Florida as both tracks are set to recurve out to sea.

AFTER-LABOR-DAY TRAVEL HAS BECOME THE MOST PLEASURABLE. OF THE PLEASURE TRAVEL SEASON.
"This is the time when the temperatures are still nice, there are no crowds and you're going to find great bargains.and not just here in the United States but even in the Caribbean and Europe"
IN LONDON, FOR EXAMPLE. HOTELS ARE 60-PERCENT CHEAPER THAN THEY WERE DURING THE OLYMPICS.
"We got all this hotel buildup in London.which are now empty because those crowds are gone.a lot of empty rooms and a lot of good deals"
THE PRICES AT DOMESTIC DESTINATIONS ALSO DROP DRAMATICALLY AFTER THIS WEEKEND.
"Places like Colorado, the theme park destinations. Even some of the city destinations like Chicago and DC 0552
EVEN IN HAWAII, LUXURY HOTELS AND RESORTS WILL BE CHARGING RATES.40-PERCENT LOWER THAN JUST LAST WEEK.
AIRFARES WON'T BE DROPPING MUCH BEFORE OCTOBER. BUT THE LOWER COSTS OF EVERYTHING ELSE CAN OFFSET THAT IN PLACES WHERE THERE'S A MONTH OF SUMMER LEFT.
"Still have excellent weather in that first couple of weeks of September.but the pricing is just so much better"
AND EXPERTS SAY THAT POST-LABOR DAY TRAVEL MAY BE MORE ATTRACTIVELY PRICED THIS YEAR DUE TO THE UNSTABLE ECONOMY.

Full Forecast
