THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
"Some tweaks to Tuesday's weather"
After a pretty quiet and sunny Labor Day weekend, we'll get your Tuesday going with more sunshine along with warm and humid conditions. We do expect a couple subtle changes in today's weather compared to what we had over the last few days.
First, rain chances get a little nudge from a disturbance over Southeast Florida that will usher in some additional moisture and make the atmosphere slightly more unstable. This should only translate into a few more afternoon and evening storms for us, most of which will develop inland. However, it's possible we could see some of this activity drift back toward the coast this evening or tonight, but coverage will stay pretty isolated.
The other change we'll observe today is a shift in wind direction, signaling a weather pattern change that will remain locked in place through the remainder of the week.
Instead of our wind flowing out of the northeast for most of the day, an onshore flow will set up this afternoon, and this will become even more pronounced Wednesday. The southwesterly flow will introduce the possibility of a few morning showers near the coast tomorrow morning, and the door will stay open for some spotty morning rain over the next several days. The chance for a few isolated storms will then continue for the urban corridor through the early afternoon before most of the rain gets carried inland later in the day.
Another change we'll start to notice with the gulf breeze developing is temperatures won't be quite as warm for the second half of the week, so look for highs in the upper 80s to low 90s starting Wednesday, and this trend should continue through the upcoming weekend as well.
Also coming this weekend is another little boost in our rain chances as more moisture builds in from the northwest. This, combined with the onshore flow, will keep the morning and afternoon shower threat going with the rain covering a littler more ground.
In the tropics, Tropical Storm Leslie continues to churn and move slowly to the north. The storm may produce some higher surf for the U.S. East Coast throughout the week before it approaches Bermuda this weekend. With continued movement to the north, Leslie will not be an issue for Southwest Florida. We also have a new tropical depression in the open Atlantic that could strengthen into Tropical Storm Michael later today. This system will be another fish storm, though, with an eventual turn to the northeast later this week.

IT WAS A VERY SCARY ACCIDENT.
"His hydraulic steering broke and the truck veered right, hard right, and he had no control at that point."
BUT EVENT DIRECTOR DANIEL MILLS SAYS, LUCKILY, IT DIDN'T TURN OUT NEARLY AS BAD AS SOME PEOPLE FEARED.
"At ground level, that would have been a much worse situation. The berm being raised like that is a barrier, there's a mud bog strip at the base of that was supposed to act as a barrier also, but he just clipped the edge of that."
MILLS SAYS THE BERM, THIS RAISED DIRT BARRIER, IS TALLER THAN MOST BERMS, BUT EVEN THOUGH ORGANIZERS THOUGHT THEY HAD TAKEN THE NECESSARY STEPS TO PROTECT SPECTATORS, MILLS AND HIS STAFF ARE LEARNING FROM SATURDAY'S INCIDENT.
"We did everything we could, that we thought was possible, to keep everybody safe here and we're not going to stop. So, we're going to keep adding to it, and we learned something. Sometimes you only learn when you see it happen."
AND EVEN THOUGH FANS SAW IT HAPPEN.
MANY STILL DECIDED TO COME OUT TO THE EVENT THE NEXT DAY.
THEY JUST MIGHT RETHINK WHERE THEY WATCH FROM.
"I was excited either way. I just decided that I'd probably sit a little bit further away and still enjoy it."
"We see people up close and you're always thinking what if, so we don't sit close for that reason, but not ours with the little ones we can't move quite as fast."

percent more than conventional foods. You have to wonder, if it's worth it?
Well a new study finds that purely from a NUTRITIONALY stand point.it it
might not be.
A Stanford study published today sifted more than 200 previously published
to answer this question.
Are organic produce and vegetables more nutritious? The answer: No. The
study found organics actually scored equally on vitamin and mineral
content as conventional produce.
SOT CRYSTAL SMITH-SPANGLER: Just looking at the foods we can't really
conclude that organic food is consistently more nutritious than conventional
alternatives. ***
Zaid Kurdeih is an organic farmer.
SOT ZAID KURDEIH: Organic does not guarantee that the nutritional value is
going to be any higher*** it is how you grow it/ Were they studying produce
from the grocery store, or farmers market, how old was it?/ I don't buy it,
bc I eat the stuff, and I know bc I can taste it.
And you can taste the nutrients?
I can taste the nutrients
But is organic food safer? Yes. The study found organic produce is 30
percent less likely to have pesticide residue on it. Although, some of the
organic produce did have pesticide residue on it. Still the authors say
all the produce. the organic and conventional. had levels of pesticide
residue that were well within what's consider safe.

The organic consumer has a different view point on whats safe and wants to

CAMPAIGNING IN HIGH GEAR?
ONE OF THE BIGGEST SPORTS IN THIS COUNTRY MAY BE PLAYING A HUGE ROLE IN SELECTING THE NEXT PRESIDENT.
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR MITT ROMNEY AND PRESIDENT OBAMA.

THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY IS GEARING UP FOR ITS NATIONAL CONVENTION IN CHARLOTTE.
BUT IN NORTH CAROLINA IT'S NOT JUST ABOUT POLITICS IT'S NASCAR-COUNTRY. AND WHEN IT COMES TO VOTERS, THAT COULD BE A SERIOUS PROBLEM FOR PRESIDENT OBAMA COME NOVEMBER.
BRIANNA KEILAR REPORTS.

CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA. HOME TO THE NASCAR HALL OF FAME, THIS IS THE EPICENTER FOR THE HARD-DRIVING, ENGINE-REVVING SPORT.
WHILE NASCAR CONSISTS OF A WHOLE LOT OF LEFT TURNS THE TYPICAL NASCAR VOTER STEERS TO THE RIGHT. WINSTON KELLEY IS THE HEAD OF THE HALL OF FAME AND A NASCAR RADIO COMMENTATOR.
Well, NASCAR has traditionally, as you have said, been little bit more Republican but North Carolina is very much a swing state.
Probably Dale Junior.
STEPHEN ELLIOTT JUST HAPPENS TO BE VISITING FROM ATLANTA DURING CONVENTION WEEK.
I am kind of little disappointed. He came in with the big fanfare and a lot of hope and promises. I don't think he fulfilled a lot of those hopes and dreams that he was talking about. I think he let a lot of people down.
BUT THE OBAMA CAMPAIGN ISN'T BANKING ON VOTERS LIKE ELLIOTT. THEY'VE LONG BEEN CONSIDERED OUT OF REACH FOR THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY AND IN THE LAST FOUR YEARS. HE'S LOST EVEN MORE GROUND.
The president is facing significant decline, especially with those blue collar white men. They have been the toughest audience for him right from the outset. But the numbers are getting really bad, possibly the lowest we've seen for any Democratic nominee in possibly 40 years.
EXIT POLLS FROM 2008 SHOW 57% OF WHITE MALES VOTED FOR JOHN MCCAIN. 41% PERCENT FOR OBAMA. THE LATEST NUMBERS FROM THIS SUMMER SHOW THE PRESIDENT HAS SLIPPED EIGHT PERCENTAGE POINTS MORE WITH THIS GROUP. AND THAT MEANS PRESIDENT OBAMA HAS TO INCREASINGLY RELY ON VOTERS WHO TEND TO BE IN HIS CORNER HISPANIC, BLACK. AND YOUNG VOTERS. AND ESPECIALLY WOMEN.
It was almost impossible for him to make a change in four years so I think the next four years why not give him another chance see what he can do for the middle class?
I voted for President Obama and I'll vote for him again. Because I don't think that he's had enough time to correct the damage done by the Republican Party. I just feel that he needs the time.
THIS COALITION OF VOTERS HOLDS THE KEY TO VICTORY FOR PRESIDENT OBAMA IF HE CAN PERSUADE THEM TO TURN OUT IN BIG NUMBERS AND HE SURE IS TRYING.
I'm counting on you, I'm counting on you. I'm counting on you. If you are not registered to vote, then you've gotta go to gotta-register-dot-com.
THAT IS THE BIG CHALLENGE. EVEN WITH NASCAR VOTERS WHO WILL OVERWHELMINGLY SUPPORT MITT ROMNEY.
Who wins the Sprint cup, no question about it.

It's not just the stuff of movies anymore. Vail Colorado is now in the grip
of a bear EPIDEMIC. More than fifty calls about bears in the past month
alone.

This bear family was caught snooping around a neighborhood near Denver. And
with Fall coming it's about to get WORSE. Bears are starting to bulk up for
a long winter hibernation. Appetites are in OVERDRIVE.
SOT RANDY HAMPTON --- COLORADO PARKS & WILDLIFE - THEY'RE LOOKING AT TRYING
CONSUME TWENTY-THOUSAND CALORIES A DAY. THEY WILL SPEND TWENTY OF TWENTY
FOUR HOURS A DAY LOOKING FOR FOOD.
The wave of bruin break-ins can partly be blamed on severe drought. Without
rainnatural foods are scarce. and the craving for calories sends bears
hunting for people food everything from peanut butter to pizza. This one
pried open a Colorado candy store. In New Mexico this uninvited guest
crashed a resort hotel.
SOT RANDY HAMPTON ---- GENERALLY THE BEAR HAS TO BE PUT DOWN ONCE IT BECOMES
AGGRESSIVE.
To scare away problem bears Vail police Sergeant Justin Dill arms himself
with this gun filled with pepper spray.
NATS - BANG / DILL DEMONSTRATES FIRING THE GUN.
