Today's Weather Story
THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
Not much change is in the forecast for Friday, as a moist tropical flow off the Gulf of Mexico stays in place. This will result in a few showers developing during the morning in our coastal waterways and near our beach locations.
Through the day, a few showers and storms will continue to make their way inland with most of Southwest Florida under partly sunny skies. Highs will be near normal as temperatures climb into the lower 90s, with heat index values near 100°.
A few heavy downpours will be located deep inland late in the day, but we can't rule out a few of those migrating back to the coast around sunset. After the rain fades, skies will clear and lows will settle into the middle to upper 70s.
We're watching an area of disturbed weather in the Gulf, that has ties to Isaac. The National Hurricane Center is giving this a low to medium chance of development over the next 48 hours, however the window of opportunity for intensification is shrinking as it will be fighting some wind shear over the next day or two.
Over the weekend, the area of low pressure in the Gulf will link up with an approaching cold front and will throw some extra moisture in our direction with an increase in shower and storm activity by Sunday and into early next week.
Elsewhere in the tropics, Hurricane Leslie and Hurricane Michael continue to swirl in the open waters of the Atlantic. Neither will be a threat to Southwest Florida as they recurve out to sea.

Weather Trends
