THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
"BREEZY PM ISOLATED SHOWERS"
We're finally getting back to more of a typical pattern across Southwest Florida with dry sunny starts, along with a few showers and storms popping in the afternoon.
After a pretty nice start to the day, our weather will stay mostly dry and partly sunny through the late morning and early afternoon hours. A few fair weather cumulus clouds will develop with the daytime heating, with much of the area seeing plenty of sunshine. Winds have shifted to the Northeast and will be a bit breezy from time to time with gusts approaching 20 mph throughout the day. With this northeasterly turn, our seabreeze will be pinned closer to the coastline, resulting in a few isolated and storms developing closer to the urban corridor late this afternoon.
By sunset, any rain that does develop should be pushing offshore into the Gulf waters. Overnight, skies will begin to clear and lows will settle into the middle 70s with mainly dry weather.
Not much change is in the forecast through the end of the week, as winds will take on more of an easterly component. This means our mornings will continue to be sunny and dry with a better chance of afternoon and early evening showers and storms closer to the coast.
In the tropics, things are quiet close to home. Tropical Storm Nadine continues to strengthen while it swirls in the open waters of the Atlantic. Nadine is forecasted to become a hurricane within the next day or two as it takes more of a northwesterly turn before it recurves out to sea.

RED WINE AND VODKA.
PAIRED UP WITH PIGS? NOW INSERT THE JOKE OF YOUR CHOICE: LIKE THIS HEADLINE IN A TORONTO NEWSPAPER.THAT STARTS WITH - A PIG WALKS INTO A BAR.
"Wine and swine.next time you see a drunken pig."
THE CURIOUS COMBO IS THE WORK OF DR. FRANK SELLKE - CHIEF OF CARDIOTHORACIC SURGERY AT RI HOSPITAL AND HIS COLLEAGUES.
"Well, actually I'm a pig farmer from way back. I grew up in Indiana on a pig farm, so I've always had a liking of pigs."
THAT LIKING LED TO THE RARE RESEARCH TAKING A LOOK AT THE EFFECTS OF WINE AND VODKA ON PIGS WITH HIGH CHOLESTEROL.
"So we actually had 3 groups: 1 got a high fat diet, 1 got a high fat diet with red wine and the other group got the high fat diet with vodka, which is essentially pure alcohol."
AFTER 7 WEEKS - THE FINDINGS SHOWED THE PIGS WHO WERE GIVEN WINE AND VODKA HAD GREATER BLOOD FLOW TO THE HEART - WITH RED WINE EVEN GOING A STEP FURTHER AND PROVIDING ANOTHER BENEFIT OVER VODKA.
"Red wine had some antioxidant effects, so not only are you seeing improvement in blood flow, but you're improving heart health."
/
"We're not advocating anyone drinking excessive amounts of any kind of alcohol whether it's vodka, or beer, or wine, but I think a small to moderate amount is actually healthy for patients."
