THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
Chalk up another day of morning sun and afternoon storms as moisture remains plentiful across Southwest Florida through the second half of our weekend.
Our sky will stay fairly quiet this morning, but we'll start things off with a few more clouds compared to Saturday. Our morning will stay mostly dry as well, but the window will open up for several showers and storms this afternoon. The favored spots for rain will again be close to the coast and the urban corridor, so areas from I-75 to the beaches will see the best chance of rain through the afternoon.
Today's downpours will drift slowly from east to west, and many spots may pick up between 1-2 inches of rain. We'll also see the potential for frequent lighting and some gusty winds inside some of the stronger storms.
Like Saturday, the bulk of the rain will push offshore close to sunset, and our weather will stay dry through most of the overnight.
In the temperatures department today, afternoon highs should manage to push 90 in most spots, and our overnight lows will cool into the mid 70s.
By Monday we'll see the potential for a few morning showers close to the coast and then a scattering of showers area wide through the afternoon. Our sky will feature partial sunshine, and temperatures should warm close to 90.
Tuesday and Wednesday still look to be the most active days this week as a weak front stalls over Central and South Florida. Our winds will be swiftly coming off the gulf both days, keeping the moist air flowing into Southwest Florida. We'll notice higher rain chances both days along with more cloud cover and highs only in the mid to upper 80s.
Rain chances will start to slip a little through the second half of the week, but we'll still see a decent chance for a few showers and storms, mainly during the afternoon.

This attack, one of the biggest ever on a coalition base since the Afghan
mission began
And it's raising serious questions about whether Prince Harry's presence
here is putting American troops in harms way.
Quick Soundup:
Taliban video
VO:
He was supposed to be safe
Stationed at a base so fortified
No attackers could ever get inside.
But Friday night, THAT all changed.
In an attack planned for weeks
According to NATO, fifteen Taliban fighters "well equipped, trained, and
rehearsed"
Breached Camp Bastion's outer wall
"Dressed in US Army uniforms" they split up into three teams, each heavily
armed with "automatic rifles, grenade launchers, and suicide vests
Their goal: To get to airfield where Prince Harry's helicopter was parked
According to reports, the Prince was whisked into protective custody the
moment the attack happened
When the insurgents couldn't reach him, they turned on other targets
Destroying or damaging: Eight harrier jets, three refueling stations, and
six aircraft hangars.
By the time the smoke had cleared, fourteen insurgents were dead
The only surviving one now under heavy armed guard at a coalition hospital.

RUNS:
5:52 Because of how common it is, people don't always get that its still major surgery, we are still entering major organs.
A COMMON SURGERY, BUT A COMPLEX ONE TOO.
DR. MELISSA LEE/Obstetrician
RUNS:
5:25 We cut through every layer. We go through skin, whatever fat tissue is there, we go through the supportive layers of the muscle into the abdominal cavity and then we do an incision on the uterus and that's how we delivery the baby. And we close everything back up on the way out.
AMY OSHIER/REPORTING
RUNS:
Recovering from a C-section is a process. While rest is important, it's also important to get up and moving. Even walking promotes healing and prevents complications like blood clots.
DR. MELISSA LEE/Obstetrician
RUNS:
4:04 We are pretty aggressive with our C-section patients. We encourage early mobility. Even the night of surgery we recommend that they're at least out of the bed moving about the room a little, sitting up in the chair.
WITHIN 6-8 WEEKS, MOMS CAN GET CLEARED BY THEIR DOCTOR TO START EXERCISING.
DR. MELISSA LEE/Obstetrician
RUNS:
7:01 As long as they realize their limitations and to slowly start rebuilding what they had. That's the best way to do it. If they were working out throughout the pregnancy, rebuilding that baseline is going to be easier as well.
IN ADDITION TO DROPPING POUNDS, MOM DIANE FOUND WORKING OUT HAD ADDED BENEFITS.
DIANE BAUER/MOM
RUNS:
1:24 I was able to pick up my kids again, because its very difficult to pick up your children after a C-section and it pushed off the post partum depression.

Ronnie and Robin Wright were a couple who spent more than two decades travelling the country together, touring on motorcycles and raising a son. Ronnie - a retired Captain with the Fort Myers Fire Department and Robin - one of Florida's premier real estate agents. But a drunk driver stole the precious lives they lived - and now, a killer is still at large while the Wright's family continues to mourn.
James Wright - "It hit so hard that the vehicle didn't push the motorcycle back. The motorcycle pushed the vehicle back."
The Wrights were on their way back home after a weekend in Fort Lauderdale with friends when they travelled northbound on State Road 29. Seen in this photo just hours before their deaths, the couple radiated with happiness and love for cycling. But on that trip back, they encountered Maximino Gomez-Cortez - who was drunk behind the wheel and decided to swerve into their lane.
James Wright - "Instead of poking your head out from behind a tractor trailer to see if anyone's coming, he just went straight out and my brother was right there."
Then, in the blink of an eye, Ronnie and Robin Wright were killed on impact… as a direct result of Gomez-Cortez driving drunk.
Gomez-Cortez was transported to the hospital with minor injuries, and blood tests found him to be over the legal limit of intoxication. When he went back to the tow company to retrieve his car, Gomez-Cortez wasn't even man enough to own up to what he did.
James Wright - "He had to be so drunk that he told the wrecker driver that he didn't kill nobody."
And though he was legally drunk, it took nearly two months before a warrant was issued for his arrest for two counts of DUI manslaughter. Enough time for him to escape the fate that he deserved.
Trish Routte - "What bothers James Wright the most, and justifiably so, is the fact that the man who took his brothers life is still out there, living life with his family and friends. Yet his brother wasn't afforded that same opportunity. And for that, he wants justice."
James Wright - "Do I want to see him in prison? Yes, I do."
Yet this Hendry County man has been a fugitive from the law since early 2009. Employed as a truck driver, Gomez-Cortez may have left the area, but still has ties to Southwest Florida. All that's needed now is that one tip to lead to his current whereabouts.
For Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, I'm Trish Routte.
Anchor tag: Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Maximino Gomez-Cortez is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000. Tips may also be made online at swflcrimestoppers.org or by texting a tip to CRIMES Keyword: REWARD.
