Full Forecast
THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
Often times around Southwest Florida, wind direction is a critical player in determining how our weather unfolds each day. Today looks like one of those days when a change in wind direction will lead to some considerable changes in our weather starting today.
Winds have now started shifting from the southeast to the southwest, which will open the door for higher rain chances over the next couple days.
The rain will also get an earlier start both today and Wednesday, so look for scattered showers to develop during the early morning, moving from the coast and spreading inland. As we progress through the morning , the showers will likely increase in coverage and intensity. It looks as though the prime time for rain today for most of us will be during the middle of the day from the late morning through the early afternoon.
Much of the rain will build inland later in the day, but we'll also be watching for the possibility of more storms rolling in from the northwest this evening or tonight. The bottom line is today will be one of those days where the air unsettled and moist enough that we can't promise any part of the day will be completely dry.
Even through the overnight we'll see the potential for some isolated rain and rumbles of thunder, and by Wednesday morning showers will again start moving in off the gulf.
Not only will we see a change in wind direction over the next couple days, but we'll also notice a change in wind speed. Winds will ramp up a bit during the day, making our weather a little breezy. Look for wind gusts to peak near 20-25 mph.
By Thursday rain coverage will start to drop a little, but there will still be some scattered showers around, primarily during the afternoon.
The threat of scattered late-day showers and storms continues Friday and into the upcoming weekend.

Weather Trends
