THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
The weather system that provided all the clouds and rain Saturday will push farther south today, keeping the best chance of a shower over southern portions of the viewing area. The good news is for most of us, we'll be in store for a lot more sunshine today as dry air settles in from the north.
Enough moisture will linger through the day to produce some isolated rain and more clouds over Hendry and Collier County. The areas most susceptible to seeing shower will be along and southeast of a line from Clewiston through Immokalee to Naples, but even here, rain chances will be dropping through the day as the drier air starts filtering in.
Temperatures should be much warmer today with more sunshine in play. On Saturday we only warmed into the mid 80s, but most spots should close in on 90 degrees this afternoon. Another nice chance we'll notice today is a slight drop in humidity. It won't be a big difference, but enough dry air should mix in to keep our heat index at more tolerable levels.
Look for our sky to stay mostly clear tonight, and our temperatures will be more comfortable, too, with lows expected to cool into the low 70s. Locations deeper inland will get even cooler with lows there in the mid to upper 60s.
Monday and Tuesday will be mostly dry days as our atmosphere stays fairly tame. We may manage to squeeze out one or two late-day showers, but rain chances will be on the low side. Meanwhile, our temperatures will stay close to average with highs close to 90 and low in the low 70s. Our sky should stay mostly sunny both days.
By mid week, moisture will start building back over Southwest Florida, so we'll start noticing increasing rain chances by Wednesday and even more so by Thursday.
As we approach the upcoming weekend, the forecast will call for a mix of sun and clouds with highs close to 90s along with more scattered afternoon storms.

IN THIS MORNING'S HEALTH CAST-
GET MOVING! THAT'S WHAT DOCTORS WILL TELL YOU.
BUT GETTING UP AND STANDING, INSTEAD OF SITTING, CAN DO MORE THAN HELP YOU STAY FIT OR LOSE WEIGHT.
SUSAN HENDRICKS EXPLAINS.
Return to index of stories...
ALTHOUGH WE'RE ALWAYS ON THE GO, A LOT OF TIMES WE DON'T GO ANYWHERE.
MANY JOBS REQUIRE SITTING AT OUR DESKS, WHICH CAUSES MANY OF US TO BE SEDENTARY 55% OF OUR DAY. AND THAT'S NOT GOOD.
Most of our back pain in this country is in our lower back, around lumbar 4, lumbar 5 and S1. And that's where most of the pressure goes when we sit in a chair.
DOCTORS ARE ALSO FINDING THAT STANDING CAN DECREASE YOUR CHANCES OF DEVELOPING SOME CANCERS, DIABETES, EVEN OBESITY.
When we are standing our muscles are firing, and when we do that, our insulin works 40% better.
SCIENTISTS BELIEVE THAT A LIPO-PROTEIN THAT CONVERTS BAD CHOLESTEROL INTO GOOD, DIMINISHES BY 95 PERCENT WHEN YOU SIT TOO LONG. THEY SAY THAT FACTOR ALONE, CAN INCREASE THE RISK OF HEART DISEASE BY 30 PERCENT.
You might live a couple years of a shorter life span from if you sit too much versus people who sit too little.
SO HOW CAN YOU STAND MORE, IF YOU WORK ALL DAY AT A DESK?
-IN AN OFFICE SETTING? ORGANIZE A STANDING MEETING.
-USE A TIMER ON YOUR COMPUTER THAT CAN LET YOU KNOW WHEN TO GET UP AND MOVE
-MAKE IT A PRACTICE EVERY TIME THE PHONES RINGS, TO STAND UP AND ANSWER IT.
-AND TAKE A FIVE MINUTE WALK EVERY HOUR IN THE OFFICE.
If you went from an eight hour a day job of sitting, to a five hour job of sitting, just three hours difference, you can burn off probably a pound a month.
FOR TODAY'S HEALTH MINUTE, I'M SUSAN HENDRICKS.

Two Islamist militias have agreed to close their bases in the eastern Libyan city of Derna, state news and a source said Saturday.
A third base will be shut on Sunday, said the source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
The state-run LANA news agency said the militias, which it identified as Bou Salim Martyrs and Ansar al-Sharia, will also disband.
The move comes after hundreds marched in the nearby city of Benghazi and took over the headquarters for Ansar al-Sharia. Individuals from the radical Islamist group are accused of having been involved in the attack last week that left four Americans dead.
Protesters demanded an end to all security activities of armed groups operating outside the official command of the army or police.
Mohamed al-Magariaf, president of Libya's General National Congress, later told reporters that a joint security office would be established to bring together the army and the various brigades backed by the government. Militias outside that office will not be allowed to operate, he said.
As militia members fled the headquarters in Benghazi, demonstrators torched a vehicle and took over the group's building without firing a single shot.
Army General Naji al-Shuaibi said the citizens, whom he referred to as "revolutionaries of the February 17 uprising," later asked that the Ansar al-Sharia headquarters be handed over to the Libyan army.
Some protesters also gathered at locations that house forces loyal to the national authority, he said, including the headquarters of the Rufallah al-Sihati battalion. Gunfire could be heard there, but it was not clear who was responsible.
At least four people were killed and 70 were injured in clashes at the Rufallah al-Sihati brigade headquarters, LANA reported.
Al-Magariaf thanked the protesters for helping evict "armed groups." He also said the Rufallah al-Sihati brigade was actually "under the command of -- and committed to -- the national authority," the case appeared to be one of mistaken identity. Magariaf asked demonstrators to stop their activities and go home.
On the night of September 11, U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens was one of four Americans slain after a group assaulted the U.S. Consulate in the eastern Libyan city.
Seen as the birthplace of the revolution that led to the death of longtime Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi, Benghazi has in recent months been beset by security issues.
Initial reports indicated that, ahead of the consular attack, Ansar al-Sharia had organized a protest to decry an inflammatory film that mocks the Prophet Mohammed and also protest the United States, where the film was privately produced.
On Thursday, Libyan Prime Minister Mustafa Abushagur said eight detained in connection with that assault include members of Ansar al-Sharia, though he added that not all the attackers came from one specific groupC

FOR NEARLY SIX YEARS, BRENDA NELSON AND HER LITTLE SERVICE PUG SOFIA WERE CONSTANT COMPANIONS. WHEN BRENDA SPENT A YEAR TEACHING IN LITHUANIA, SOFIA WENT ALONG FOR THE JOURNEY. BUT SOFIA WOULD NOT MAKE IT BACK HOME.
"And her life ended in a very traumatic, unnecessary way,"
THE PAIR WERE ON THEIR LAST LEG OF THEIR TRIP HOME, WAITING FOR A JET BLUE FLIGHT FROM NEW YORK CITY TO SALT LAKE. THE FLIGHT WAS DELAYED, THEN ONCE ON THE PLANE, THEY WERE STUCK ON THE TARMAC FOR AN ADDITIONAL 45 MINUTES --- 99 MINUTES TOTAL.
A FLIGHT ATTENDANT INSISTED BRENDA KEEP SOFIA IN HER CARRIER, ON THE FLOOR, UNDER THE SEAT IN FRONT OF HER. WITH LACK OF FRESH AIR AND CIRCULATION, THE PUG WAS STRUGGLING TO BREATHE. THEN A HORRIFYING DISCOVERY.
"As I. took her out of her bag there was no life. / The next thing I realized I was walking off the plane carrying my dog, my lifeless dog, in my arms."
SOFIA, WHO PRIOR TO THE FLIGHT WAS IN GOOD HEALTH AND CURRENT ON ALL IMMUNIZATIONS, WAS DEAD.
JET BLUE ARRANGED FOR A HOTEL ROOM AND TOLD BRENDA SHE COULD TAKE THE DOG'S BODY HOME THE NEXT DAY AFTER IT WAS PRESERVED.
BUT THEN THEY TOLD HER THE DOG WOULD NEED TO BE CREMATED, AT BRENDA'S EXPENSE.
IT WAS A THREE-DAY ORDEAL IN NEW YORK.
