NATS: The Boys are Back in Town
Together on the trail for the first time in more than a month, Mitt Romney
and Paul Ryan - looking to halt the President's growing lead in Ohio.
No Republican has won the White House without Ohio
RYAN: O-H!
CROWD: I-O!
But in front of that Ohio crowd- What appeared to be a sudden shift from
Romney in one of his key arguments. After repeatedly saying President Obama
raised taxes during his first term
ROMNEY SOT 08/03:
The president has raised taxes on the middle class
ROMNEY SOT 04/02:
He's raised taxes on middle income Americans.
Suddenly he appeared to be saying the President HASN'T raised taxes.
ROMNEY SOT:
He's got one new idea. I admit he's going to do one new thing he didn't do
in his first four years. that's he's going to do in his next four years.
That is he's going to raise taxes."
It made immediate headlines.
In fact, the President has NOT raised income tax rates in his first term.
He is proposing raising rates on families making 250 thousand or more.
The Romney campaign telling me - that's what Romney was talking about.
Meantime, new fallout from that secretly recorded tape - Romney in front of
wealthy donors - talking about the 47 percent he doesn't have to worry about
.
In a new ABC News Washington Post poll.
More than half - 54% of Americans-- hold an unfavorable view of those
comments from Romney.
Overnight, Romney trying to manage expectations for the next big moment -
One week from tonight - that first debate:
ROMNEY FOX SOT:
'The President is obviously a very eloquent, gifted speaker he'll do just
fine / I've you know, never been in a presidential debate like this."
While his wife Ann overnight turned to humor:
ANN ROMNEY ON LENO SOT:
four years ago, I made a videotape / and I said, "Mitt, this is for you
sweetheart. I'm never doing this again. / He looked at it and said, 'you
know, Ann you say that after every pregnancy.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
Sunlight will stay pretty limited and dim through our Wednesday as lots of cloud cover continues to flow in from the west. In addition to all the cloudiness, we'll also add on a decent chance for some showers and storms to develop this afternoon and evening.
Storms will be most numerous over southern portions of the viewing area, so Collier County will likely be in line to receive the most rain through this evening. Some downpours could even hang around through early tonight before eventually fading deeper into the night. Our rain chances will be close to 50/50 today with slightly higher probabilities expected as you go farther south.
As clouds continue to fill our sky today, temperatures will be held back a bit compared to what we'd normally expect. Look for afternoon temperatures to warm into the mid to upper 80s with places that manage to see more peaks of sun getting closer to 90.
Another change we'll see today is with our humidity. After enjoying a few days with slightly lower humidity, we'll now see a quick return to some rather muggy weather with tropical moisture steadily building back over Southwest Florida. Expect the humid conditions to stick around, too, for the next several days
We could manage more rays of sun by Thursday, but clouds will fill in rather quickly Thursday afternoon as more scattered showers and storms develop. Friday will feature another round of late day showers and storms, and will continue to see high rain prospects through the upcoming weekend. In fact, by Sunday, we'll see a better chance for rain developing as early as the morning with the main steering flow expected to come out of the Southwest.
In the tropics, there are no tropical concerns for Southwest Florida. We're continuing to track long-lived Tropical Storm Nadine in the far Eastern Atlantic, but this storm won't be a threat to land.
