7:40 "It's like living outside, it doesn't even feel like you're inside."
It hasn't been an easy week of classes for 8th grader Taylor Toatley, who says the inside of her Cypress Middle School has turned into a sauna.
Taylor
7:45 "The humidity is awful, just horrible."
Toatley, along with a long line of parents picking up their kids from an early dismissal on Wednesday have been dealing with no air conditioning inside of the school throughout the week.
Cypress Middle School Parent
3:06 "It's been two days since the kids had air conditioning, it's a closed building and I don't think it's fair that they're doing this to them."
School officials say a lightning strike that occurred last Sunday blew out its air conditioning unit, and that they've had trouble finding the one needed to replace it quickly.
Joe Crato/Cypress Middle School parent
4:48 "It's crazy but were in Southwest Florida, during rainy season with lightning and stuff on air conditioners and fire alarms, it's going to happen."
But students say the heat has been so hard to deal with, that it has been distracting them from their every day learning.
Taylor
8:20 "I couldn't even focus on what the teacher was saying and then with everyone laughing and goofing off, that makes it worse."
Taylor Grato/Cypress Middle School 6th grader
9:54 "Def. makes it a little harder."
Rick Ritter
15:38 "While many parents and kids have had enough of these hotter days in the classroom, they are happy that officials haven't canceled school, which would have meant more makeup days at the end of the year."
Taylor Crato/Cypress Middle School 6th grader
10:28 "It's better to have a little bit of heat then actually have to make it up and take time off."
And with officials planning on having a new unit installed on Wednesday night, it looks like students will finally be heading back to cooler days.
Taylor Toatley
8:55 "Just crazy, it's really bad in there."

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
Clouds dominated our skies once again today across Southwest Florida with little to no sunshine. This has kept temperatures well below the 90° mark with most locations sitting in the middle to upper 80s.
Up until this point, the vast majority of the area has stayed mainly dry with only a few sprinkles and patchy rain areas showing up on radar. A few downpours will try to get going late this afternoon and will linger into the early evening hours.
Once the rain fades tonight, our skies will go fairly quiet and the clouds will begin to thin just a bit overnight as lows settle into the mid 70s by morning.
Our Thursday will more than likely start off with more clouds and dry weather. Through the afternoon, a few more rays of sunshine will breakout allowing temperatures to rebound into the low 90s. We'll also be in more of a summertime pattern, where showers and a few storms favor the afternoon and evening hours close to the urban corridor.
Friday and into the weekend, expect a mix of sun and clouds, while most of the rain activity holds off until the afternoon. With a turn in our steering winds by Sunday off the Gulf of Mexico, a few morning showers can't be ruled out before they get pushed deeper inland by the afternoon.
Early next week, a cold front will stall across the Peninsula just to the north of the area. This will keep our weather pattern a bit unsettled as we kick off the month of October.
In the tropics, things are relatively quiet. The only storm brewing in the Atlantic Basin is Nadine as it remains 500 miles to the southwest of the Azores. Models are hinting at no tropical troubles at least for the next 5 to 7 days.

THAT BIG, PINK BUILDING THAT STICKS OUT ALONG THE FORT MYERS RIVER FRONT.
THE OLD AMBASSADOR HOTEL FINALLY HAS A BUYER LOOKING TO FIX IT UP.
BUT THE "TO DO" LIST IS LONG.
once you change all of those windows, and you start to change the outside steel, and concrete, then you look at the old AC units that have to be replaced and then all the plumbing, you're looking at $25 million just for construction.
DEVELOPER ROBERT MACFARLANE WANTS TO TURN THIS DETIORIATING BUILDING INTO A NEW HOUSING OPTION ON THE WATER FOR FOLKS 55 AND OLDER.
LOCATED RIGHT NEAR THE NEW LIBRARY---IT WOULD ALSO CREATE 300 MORE PARKING SPOTS THE CITY DESPERATELY NEEDS.
the only way this $52 million dollar renovation can happen, MacFarlane says, if he gets some help from the city.
MAYOR RANDY HENDERSON IS EXCITED SOMEONE WANTS TO FINALLY FIX THE PROPERTY.
BUT WITH A TOUGH ECONOMY, THE CITY WOULD HAVE TO AGREE TO USE A PORTION OF ITS FUTURE TAX REVENUE TO HELP FUND THE PROJECT.
HENDERSON'S NOT SURE IF THE COUNCIL WILL APPROVE.
the net benefit for the city and our citizens is way worth it and really clears up a substantial blight in an area of the city that has momentum right now.
ENOUGH MOMENTEUM THAT MACFARLANE HOPES TO CLOSE A DEAL BY THE END OF THE YEAR.
WHILE HE DOESN'T KNOW WHAT THE FINAL PRODUCT WILL LOOK LIKE, HE CAN ASSURE ONE THING.
