Today's Weather Story
THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
"Morning sun, followed by hit or miss showers"
After a cloudy start to the week, we'll end it on a sunny and warm note.
Skies have cleared out nicely overnight after a round of storms fired up late yesterday afternoon. That means our Friday morning will start off mild and dry with mostly sunny conditions.
Through the lunchtime hour, our weather will stay fairly dry with a few fair weather clouds dotting the sky. Overall, our day will be partly sunny with a few hit or miss late day showers and storms. Most spots will remain rain free as drier air in the mid and upper levels of the atmosphere builds in across the peninsula. This won't exactly eliminate our rain prospects, but it will keep it on the lower end around 30%.
Highs today will be a few degrees above the average as most of us will aim for the lower 90s, while coastal and beach locations top out in the upper 80s to near 90°.
Any rain that develops will quickly fade and skies will go mostly clear. Lows will settle into the mid 70s along the urban corridor with lower 70s across our inland communities by morning.
With high pressure in control and a light easterly flow, the same pattern will set up through the first half of the weekend as morning sun will be followed by a few afternoon showers and storms.
By Sunday, winds look to shift more to the south, which will pump in a bit more moisture across Southwest Florida. This will also give us the possibility of a few showers to get going during the mid to late morning hours, before the rain shifts inland during the day.
A weather system will stall to the north of us early next week and will keep our days a bit on the unsettled side through Wednesday.
In the tropics, Tropical Storm Nadine continues to hang on in the eastern Atlantic, while conditions close to home are quiet.

Weather Trends
