Showers and storms will continue making quite the splash across Southwest Florida through our Tuesday.
The soggy, unsettled pattern is the result of a large stream of tropical moisture flowing in from the southwest in advance of an approaching front that will lose steam before making it through Southwest Florida.
We get to experience the wet and stormy side of this weather system, which means we'll continue seeing passing showers and storms through the day. Like yesterday, there will be many dry periods in between the downpours as they work from south to north, so the entire day won't be a complete washout. Just prepare for the possibility of the sky going from sunshiny to showery rather quickly with so much moisture around.
Some of the today's rain will be quite heavy with some downpours even packing some lightning and gusty winds. Areas that get hit multiples times by these showers will see the potential of getting more than an inch or two of rain.
Outside of today's showers, we'll see breezy conditions with a mix of sun and clouds. Temperatures will start out in the upper 70s and low 80s this morning and then peak in the mid to upper 80s during the afternoon.
Even during the overnight hours , showers will continue roaming across the area, and clouds will keep cluttering our sky.
Wednesday will be another wet one, too, with our rain chances staying close to 70%.
In fact, it doesn't look like we'll get much of a break from the rain until Thursday, but even then showers and storms will be in our forecast. The difference is instead of getting rain in the morning and afternoon, showers will mainly hold off until the afternoon and evening. We'll also notice more sunshine and warmer temperatures.
This will be the way our weather stays as we head into the weekend, too, when we'll start our days with sunny, mostly dry conditions until showers and storms fire up during the afternoon and evening.

This week hasn't been a complete wash out, but we have picked up a hefty amount of rainfall.
Good news, better weather is ahead, but first, we must get through the next 24 hours. During that time frame we will see a few more inches.
This rain is streaming in from the Gulf and Caribbean ahead of a cold front. That's right - I said cold front. Sadly the cooler air behind the front will not make it into southwest Florida.
Instead we will see more rain for Wednesday. This is mother nature's way of teasing us! We get rain while everyone to our north gets nice, fall weather.
There will be a few morning showers to start Wednesday, and eventually those will push north. We're still locked for scattered storms tomorrow. So keep that umbrella! Thankfully we will see more sunshine tomorrow, but nonetheless the rain will stay.
Thursday through Saturday we will see near normal conditions. Dry mornings, partly sunny skies, and afternoon storms.
There will be an uptick in rain on Sunday as a piece of energy streams over from the Gulf.

ACCORDING TO PETA, THESE PHOTOS WERE TAKEN BY A TOURIST ON SEPTEMBER 27TH, AND SHOW A DEEP, PENETRATING GASH ON AN 11-YEAR OLD ORCA WHALE NAMED NAKAI AT SEAWORLD SAN DIEGO.
CITING OTHER PICTURES TAKEN BY A SCIENTIST THIS WEEKEND, PETA claims NAKAI WAS HURT AFTER AN ALTERCATION WITH OTHER WHALES AND HAS FILED A COMPLAINT WITH FEDERAL REGULATORS AGAINST SEAWORLD FOR HOUSING ORCAS TOGETHER THAT ARE INCOMPATIBLE.
Lisa Lange/ PETA
in the wild orcas choose their pod members, they swim with their families, in captivity, they're kept in such tight confinement that they're forced to be with other animals that they don't get along with, and so we understand from former trainers and from whistle blowers that acts of aggression are common
DESPITE THE LARGE GASH, SEAWORLD SAYS THAT NIKAI WAS TREATED RIGHT AWAY BY A PARK VETERINARIAN AFTER AN INCIDENT ON SEPTEMBER 20TH AND IS DOING FINE WITH NEW TISSUE GROWING IN. THE PARK DECLINED OUR REQUEST FOR AN INTERVIEW, BUT DID RELEASE THIS VIDEO OF NAKAI SWIMMING, AND EATING AT SHAMU STADIUM ON MONDAY.
IN A STATEMENT, SEAWORLD suggests the incident did not involve an altercation with other whales, SAYING, "IT IS BELIEVED NAKAI'S INJURY OCCURRED WHEN HE CAME IN CONTACT WITH A PORTION OF THE POOL ENVIRONMENT. IMMEDIATELY PRIOR TO THE NAKAI SUSTAINING THE INJURY, HE AND TWO OTHER WHALES WERE ENGAGED IN NORMAL SOCIAL BEHAVIOR."

IT DOESN'T JUST HAPPEN TO 'OTHER PEOPLE'. YOU COULD BE AT RISK FOR A PULMONARY EMBOLISM. IT'S A CLOT THAT LODGES IN THE LUNGS, BUT ORIGINATES SOMEWHERE ELSE.
DR. JAVAAD KHAN/PULMONOLOGIST
RUNS:
:30 Majority of those are blood clots that break off from the legs and travel up the body through the heart into the lungs.
THOSE CLOTS IN THE LEGS ARE CALLED DEEP VEIN THROMBOSIS OR DVT. THEY'RE ONE OF THE MOST COMMON SOURCES OF PULMONARY EMBOLISM. BEING LAID UP IN THE HOSPITAL IS ONE RISK FACTOR.
DR. JAVAAD KHAN/PULMONOLOGIST
RUNS:
9:18: Because patients come in and are bed-ridden and are sick and not moving that much. The hospitals have a lot of protocols in place to prevent this.
AMY OSHIER/REPORTING
RUNS:
Sitting in a car for hours, or a long plane ride also elevates your risk. Again it goes back to lack of mobility. And again, there are steps you can take to lower your risk.
DR. JAVAAD KHAN/PULMONOLOGIST
RUNS:
13:23: If you're going on a car ride it's always a good idea to stop every couple of hours, get out, and walk around the car a couple of times and then get back in. Its just that little mobility that keeps the blood flowing in the veins and will help lower that risk. If you're going on a flight doing calf raises that keeps the blood flowing.
A PRIOR SURGERY, POOR CIRCULATION. PERIPHERAL VASCULAR DISEASE, SMOKING, OBESITY AND PREGNANCY CAN PREDISPOSE PEOPLE. SYMPTOMS MAY MIMIC A HEART ATTACK.
DR. JAVAAD KHAN/PULMONOLOGIST
RUNS:
2:40 The vast majority get the symptoms of shortness of breath, can't breath, very winded, low blood pressure.
THESE SHOULD PROMPT YOU TO SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY. CASES OF PULMONARY EMBOLISM ARE USUALLY TREATED WITH BLOOD THINNERS, SEVERE CASES MAY NEED CLOT BUSTING DRUGS. THE POINT IS TO KNOW YOUR RISK FACTORS AND IF YOU SUSPECT A CLOT, CALL YOUR DOCTOR.
