5:02 FORECAST ON THE 2'S-WX WALL

Today's Weather Story

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

Rain chances will start falling today, marking the onset of a drier stretch of weather across Southwest Florida. In addition to the lower rain chances, sunshine will be quite prevalent for the next several days, and we also expect a little dip in humidity later this week.

Even though rain chances will be a lot lower today compared to previous days, moisture will still be sufficient enough to spark a few hit-or-miss afternoon showers. Areal coverage of the rain will be close to 30%, and the cells that manage to develop won't be as strong. Aside from these isolated afternoon showers, we'll be in store for a nice mix of sun and clouds through our Tuesday with highs closing in on 90 degrees.

Our sky will become mostly clear and quiet tonight with temperatures cooling to the low to mid 70s for most of Southwest Florida.

Speaking of our overnight lows, this is one area where we'll see some pleasant changes thanks some less humid air that will settle in by Wednesday night. The drop in humidity will allow the air to cool more efficiently, which will produce some comfortable overnights and early mornings with lows in the upper 60s and lower 70s by Thursday and Friday morning. Although the dip in humidity won't have much of an effect on our daytime temperatures, the drier air will make our afternoons more tolerable.

The dry air that's expected to move in through the second half of the week will also squash our rain chances from Wednesday through Friday, so even a stray shower will be hard to come by until Saturday or Sunday. Even then, rain chances will stay pretty low. Other than a few isolated showers Saturday and Sunday, we'll enjoy plentiful sunshine with highs in the upper 80s and lows in the low 70s. 5:32 FORECAST ON THE 2'S-WX WALL
