fish aren't the only sea creatures being harmed
Sot Bruce
58:17 Any vertebrate animal that consumes an enormous amount of this can be poisoned this is why the state regulates our commercial shell fish beds31
The Florida dept of agriculture and consumer services has stopped all shellfish harvesting in pine island sound.
Theses creatures don't usually die from red tide because they can filter it through their system.
But eating them while they're sick- can make you ill.

1:1:09 I don't think you should ever eat things you find dead in the environment never eat road kill off the side of the road, never eat dead fish you find and particularly don't eat eat dead shellfish! Those are really really poisonous. 23

Right now he's working on some 40 projects - including this one in the north cape coral. But soon, his seawall work could run dry.
-david mulicka/HONC Marine-"seawalls, docks and lifts are our core business and the city of cape coral is our hometown. There couldn't be any greater impact to our business than this particular permit."
That "permit" is called SAJ-91. Its a general permit required by the army corps of engineers for anyone wanting to build or rebuild a seawall. Part of its purpose is to protect the endangered smalltooth sawfish.
-heather mazurkiewicz/CCCIA-"to find out that as of monday that process is going to end is very disappointing."
In a letter obtained exclusively by nbc2, the chief of the fort myers division of the army corps of engineers says "after friday, the corps will have to review any applications that would have been authorized under SAJ-91 until formal consultation can be concluded for smalltooth sawfish critical habitat."
That decision isn't sitting well with some city leaders.

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
LITTLE TASTE OF FALL AHEAD
Dry, stable air is in the process of filtering into Southwest Florida, which will work to drastically lower our rain chances for the next several days.
Instead of tracking those afternoon showers and storms, we'll just be tracking sunshine and a few fair-weather clouds. Come Thursday, we'll even get a break from the oppressively high humidity we've endured for the last several months.
Here's how our Thursday breaks down. In a few areas , we'll start out with some patchy fog. Otherwise, we'll begin with a mostly clear sky and temperatures around 69 degrees… Yes, I said 69 degrees. Sunshine will pretty much dominate our sky through the day, too. Daytime temperatures will peak in the upper 80s to near 90.
Our sky stays clear tomorrow night as well, and with the low humidity levels - it'll feel great! Clear sky, light wind will allow temperatures to bottom out in the upper 60s to lower 70s for yet another night
The subtle drop in humidity will carry over into Friday, making the air feel slightly more splendid. Afternoon temperatures will still be rather warm though. That's what happens with dry air during the fall. Cool mornings and warm afternoons, but thankfully it won't feel oppressive!
Daytime highs will stay mainly in the upper 80s. A refreshing breeze will set up out of the east northeast from 5-15 mph, and we may even get gusts in the 20-25 mph range.
The beautiful weather also rolls along into Saturday. Saturday will feature mainly sunny skies and dry conditions with highs yet again nearing the upper 80s.
By Sunday, there should be enough moisture coming in with the easterly winds to produce a few hit-or-miss showers, but even then, most spots will stay dry.
Enjoy this stretch of dry, sunny, and slightly cooler weather! It looks like a hint of autumn will be in our air for the next few days.
