A Golden Gate man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the Aug. 4 death of 25-year-old Ernest Torres Jr., also of Golden Gate.

Abraham Eckman, 23, 5400 23rd Court S.W., was arrested Thursday afternoon at the Naples Jail Center, where he has been in custody since Aug. 6 on a charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Detectives say Eckman shot Torres shortly before 5 a.m. through Torres' bedroom window at 2248 54th Terrace S.W.

Detectives were in contact with Eckman early in the investigation and learned that he had guns at his home.

Due to a 2006 felony drug conviction he is not allowed to own guns.

At a press conference in Moscow on Wednesday, Brightman announced that she

has signed up - and paid up - to be the next space tourist. She's expected

to blast off sometime in 2015 aboard a Russian Soyuz rocket and will spend

about 10 days at the international space station.

Brightman wouldn't say exactly how much she's paying, but sources tell ABC

News that the pricetag was at least $50 million dollars.

After the announcement she sat down with ABC News for her only American

interview, and said this has been a lifelong dream, inspired by the space

race of the 1960s

She says she may even stage a performance from the space station

SB: I think that might be forthcoming, we're in the planning for that

In July Brightman traveled to the cosmonaut training facility outside Moscow

, where she underwent medical and endurance tests, and got the ok to fly.

Brightman will be the 8th space tourist. The first was American businessman

Dennis Tito in 2001. The most recent was Cirque du Soleil founder Guy

Lalibert, who in 2009 became the first clown in space.

Brightman will become the first singer. She says her stage experience

prepared her for space training, which includes enduring up to 8 times the

force of gravity.
