THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
Hurricane Sandy will continue to influence our weather through the end of the week and into the upcoming weekend.
As of this afternoon, Sandy is approaching the southeastern coast of Jamaica packing winds of 80mph. As Sandy continues on a northerly track, it will bring flooding rains not only to Jamaica, but eastern Cuba, Haiti, and the
Bahamas. For us, Southwest Florida will stay on the drier side of Sandy, however you will notice an increase in the winds over the next couple of days as Sandy makes its closest approach.
For the remainder of our Wednesday, we'll continue to see a mix of sun and clouds with temperatures peaking in the middle to upper 80s. A couple of spotty showers can't be ruled out through the early evening hours, however the vast majority of Southwest Florida should stay fairly dry.
Tonight, partly cloudy skies will stick around with overnight lows settling into the lower 70s by morning.
As Sandy moves closer to the Bahamas, our breezy northeasterly wind will set up across the peninsula once again for Thursday keeping the chance for a few spotty showers in the forecast as moisture from the Atlantic gets pulled in our direction from the east. More clouds than sun tomorrow will also keep temperatures in the middle to upper 80s. Expect our windiest day to be on Friday as winds will increase out of the north and northwest to 25 mph gusting close to 40mph throughout the day.
As Sandy, begins to pull away from the Florida coastline, some dry air will be filtering in on the backside of this system, keeping a drier weather pattern in place through the weekend. Also, some cooler air will make its way into Southwest Florida, which may very well keep our highs in the 70s by Tuesday with overnight lows in the 50s for the first time this season.

The wildlife- not the only ones affected.

The care these animals need- is constant,
Especially since There's no cure for red tide poisoning.
Sot dr aundria
" it's a toxin s there's not really much you'd an do as far as anti toxin against it, you just have to wait for the body to clear it out so the best way is to pump m full of fluids, get things flushed out and just provide some food."
Vets usually know within 24 hours if a bird is going to survive red tide.
If they make it- graduate to the outdoor pen.

A woman reportedly raped inside a hotel room-- all while she was unconscious.
The violent incident happened at the comfort inn in east naples on monday night.
A woman staying at the motel 8 next door says she was drinking at the pool when two men approached her, INVITED HER TO THE COMFORT INN and offered her drinks at THAT pool bar.
She says she blacked out-- and woke up inside a hotel room with one of the men 'covering her mouth and another on top of her, raping her." She says the men 'took turns sexually assaulting her.' She begged for them to stop-- and eventually was able to get away.
The womans boyfriend later found her curled up and crying in the parking lot-- he rushed her to the emergency room where a nurse reported the rape to authorities.
At the hospital, a deputy says the victim was 'throwing up, mumbling and crying'. She told investigators what happened and was able to give them a description of her alleged attackers.
Today deputies found 20 year old alfredo carranza staying at the hotel-- the woman identified him as one of the men who sexually assaulted her.

Fire officials say the ones here in Collier along with Lee County aren't as familiar with troubleshooting the devices yet, something they hope will soon change."
