THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
HURRICANE SANDY - GAME CHANGER FOR SWFL
First thing is first, Hurricane Sandy will not have a direct impact on southwest Florida. There are zero watches or warnings for us since Sandy will stay 300-400 miles to our east. Thus, all active watches and warnings are being issued for the east coast of our state.
What will it bring us? Breezy conditions, cloudy skies, and periods of rain for the next few days.
The weather coming after Sandy passes will be phenomenal - In fact, it's game changing.
Sandy is currently pushing to the north, and it's going to merge with a very large low pressure system heading for the northeast and mid Atlantic states. This will cause a mega storm to form around Chesapeake Bay - very comparable to the storm of the century we witnessed in the early 90s.
Sandy may rewrite the record books
It has the possibility of causing millions, if not billions, of dollars in damage across the northeastern United States when it makes landfall on Tuesday.
It'll be such a mega system that it may very well catapult us into the dry season. Sound familiar? It should. Hurricane Wilma did it a few years back.
We're going to see a lot of sunshine after Sandy passes, and yes cool fall weather, from the start of your day to the beginning.
Lows will be in the lower 50s and we could possibly see an upper 40s in some spots next week. Highs will struggle to get pass 75!
Say so long, farewell to the rainy season!

we are afraid that sandy is going to be drawn northward as this cooler air
comes east. and then what happens you are bringing tropical air into a cold
air mass and that's going to allow the storm to intensify.
CONDITIONS THIS YEAR ARE SIMILAR TO OCTOBER 1991.THE YEAR OF THE SO CALLED
"PERFECT STORM".WHEN A HURRICANE COMBINED WITH A HUGE COLD WEATHER SYSTEM
AND BATTERED THE NORTHEAST.EVENTUALLY KILLING 12 PEOPLE AND CAUSED 200
