Return to index of stories...
THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
"A weak front brings slight changes for Thursday"
After several days of nice weather across our part of the state, a very weak front will bring some slight changes to our Thursday.
A weak cold front will sag down the peninsula this afternoon keeping a mix of sun and clouds in the forecast with a slight chance for a few spotty showers during the afternoon and early evening. Temperatures will continue to run in the upper 70s to near 80°. While this front, won't bring another dose of colder air, it will reinforce the pleasant weather we've already been seeing.
As we head into Friday and the weekend, dry high pressure will clear things out and provide us with plenty of sunshine to fill our skies, along with a dry weather pattern that will hold across Southwest Florida. Expect temperatures to fall into the upper 50s to low 60s during the mornings with highs in the lower 80s during the afternoons.
By early next week, we'll be tracking another cold front that will bring isolated showers to Southwest Florida followed by another nice refreshing push of Autumn air.

AFTER BEING CLOSED FOR TWO DAYS AND DOWN THE THIRD DAY OF THIS WEEK, THE DOW INDUSTRIALS ROARED BACK TO CLOSE 136 POINTS UP TODAY.
BUT WITH ALL OF THE UNCERTAINTIES SURROUNDING THE ELECTION, THE FISCAL CLIFF, AND NOW THE DEVASTATION IN THE NORTHEAST, ARE TODAY'S ACTION IN THE MARKETS A SIGNAL FOR OUR VIEWERS TO TURN TO STOCKS?
TO ANSWER THAT QUESTION -- WE TURN TO OUR WELLS FARGO ADVISOR NICK CHLUMSKY.
NICK?
Return to index of stories...
I would love to be able to say yes, now is the time to pull some cash off the sidelines and buy stocks, but unfortunately I still haven't found that crystal ball that will tell me what the market will do tomorrow. And the decision to purchase stocks should not be taken lightly and must be weighed carefully with your risk tolerance, investment objective and time horizon.
· And if you are one of those investors who has been hesitant to get back into this market and still sitting with a lot of cash earning close to nothing in savings accounts and money market accounts, I would ask you to consider the following to help guide you as to when the best time is to get back into the market.
Return to index of stories...
So first, let's look at a little history or some statistical evidence. Since 1950 or for the past 62 years, the month of November has been the 3rd best performing month for both the S&P 500 and the Dow Industrials with an average percentage gain of 1.5%. But quite a bit more convincing than that, we are now entering what has historically been the best six months of the year for stocks.
To illustrate how different the historical returns have been for the next six months from November through April versus May through October, let's compare how an investment of $10,000 would have grown if invested during these two different timeframes.
For those who invested their $10,000 only from November through April since 1950, today they would have over $600,000.
· However, for those who invested $10,000 from May through October since 1950, their investment actually would have lost money and would only be worth about $9,600 today. That's quite a dramatic difference and I would submit that certainly, all things being equal, that November, historically would be the best time to enter the market.
The second thing I would consider is that many, if not most retail investors, have been waiting to make any significant investment decisions until after the election. People have been in the 'ole' paralysis by analysis mode. And this has been reflected in the markets for the past several months.
Remember, markets hate uncertainty. And like I said a few weeks ago, I don't really think the outcome of this election will have a bearing one way or another on the markets in the short to intermediate term.
I believe that once the uncertainty of the election is behind us, markets will probably rally. And at that time, investors and businesses will begin to have a better idea of what the business environment and tax structure will look like and can begin making intelligent business decisions.
Return to index of stories...
There will be a next leg up in this bull market. The question is, does that begin now or does that begin sometime later. For longer-term investors, I believe now is as good a time as any to begin investing in good quality, high dividend paying stocks.

FORECAST OPEN
