NATSOT

ROMNEY: I'M COUNTING ON YOU TO MAKE SURE WE WILL WIN! WE CAN'T LOSE! 1/8CHEERS 3/8

/

OBAMA: LET'S GO VOTE! LET'S GET THIS DONE! 1/8CHEERS 3/8

And the final chapter of the 2012 campaign has begun -- and it's all come down to Ohio, which President Obama and Mitt Romney will visit SIX separate times in the last four days of this race.

NATSOT OBAMA

Today, President Obama will spend the entire day in Ohio. and a look at his campaign travel schedule makes the Buckeye State look like an airline hub for Air Force One, with Ohio stops every day through Election Day.

NATSOT ROMNEY

For his part, Mitt Romney is not only focusing on Ohio, but visiting Wisconsin as well. And he's looking to broaden the battleground map, campaigning in Pennsylvania on Sunday, and visiting New Hampshire twice -- the smallest swing state that may be edging in Mr. Romney's direction in recent polls.

In these frenetic final days, both candidates are sharpening their closing arguments to voters.

Mr. Obama, arguing for another four years:

SOT:

AFTER FOUR YEARS AS PRESIDENT, YOU KNOW ME BY NOW. YOU MAY NOT AGREE WITH EVERY DECISION I'VE MADE. YOU MAY BE FRUSTRATED AT THE PACE OF CHANGE. BUT YOU KNOW WHAT I BELIEVE. YOU KNOW WHERE I STAND.

Mr. Romney, calling himself the agent of change:

SOT:

THIS IS NO TIME FOR SMALL MEASURES. THIS IS TIME FOR REAL CHANGE AND WHEN I'M ELECTED PRESIDENT, ON DAY ONE WE'LL BRING REAL CHANGE TO AMERICA! 1/8CHEERS 3/8

And as the Hurricane Sandy recovery effort continues, both candidates took time to mention the storm victims Thursday.

SOT:

THERE ARE NO DEMOCRATS OR REPUBLICANS DURING A STORM - THEY'RE JUST FELLOW AMERICANS.

/FLASH/

SOT:

IF YOU HAVE A FEW EXTRA DOLLARS, SENDING THEM ALONG TO THE AMERICAN RED CROSS OR TO THE SALVATION ARMY OR OTHER RELIEF ORGANIZATIONS CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF OUR FELLOW CITIZENS.

Mr. Romney was then interrupted by a protester.

SOT:

"WHAT ABOUT CLIMATE? THAT'S WHAT CAUSED THIS MONSTER STORM. CLIMATE CHANGE." 1/8BOOS FROM CROWD 3/8

NATSOT BLOOMBERG

And one of the men at the center of the Sandy response, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, also suggested climate change may have been responsible for the storm -- and he endorsed President Obama, tweeting, "This November, vote for a president who will lead on climate change." FIRST ALERT FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

"SWFL weather at its finest"

A weak cold front brought some cloudy periods across our skies Thursday, and now that the clearing trend is well underway we're in store for a beautiful weekend. This front will not bring much of a chill, however it will keep our nights comfortably cool and our afternoons sunny and dry with low humidity.

After some patchy fog this morning, we'll continue to see wall to wall sunshine through the midday and afternoon hours. This will help temperatures warm into the upper 70s to lower 80s today. We'll also see a nice refreshing breeze out of the northwest, which will keep the dry air in place and relative humidity levels on the comfy side.

Tonight, skies will stay clear and lows will be a touch cooler as many locations along the urban corridor will settle into the upper 50s by morning with most of our inland and northern communities dropping into the middle 50s.

The weekend is shaping up beautifully with dry high pressure in control. This will keep the pleasant weather around through Sunday. Mostly sunny skies will prevail with our mornings near 60° and our afternoons in the lower 80s.

Another cold front is on the map and it's scheduled to move through Southwest Florida on Tuesday. This will bring a mix of sun and clouds to the area with more clouds than sun at times with the chance for isolated afternoon showers. In its wake, temperatures will return to the middle and upper 70s for highs and 50s for lows. Return to index of stories...

.ARE ALL STEPS PHYSICAL STORES ARE TAKING TO AVOID BEING SOMETHING OTHER THAN A SHOWROOM FOR THEIR DIGITAL RIVALS.

"Stores do not want to be Amazon showrooms this year. it's something that we're seeing repeatedly throughout the stores with a variety of different promotions"

"Brick and mortar retailers in particular.you know.they have rent they have to pay.they need to incentivize consumers to visit the stores"

TARGET, FOR EXAMPLE.IS UTILIZING Q-R CODES FOR EASY ACCESS TO ITS TOP TOYS. EVEN IF THE ITEM'S NOT IN STOCK.

"You can snap a picture of the code with your phone and then have that item shipped directly to you for free"

"I don't have to face that frustration taking 3 hours to go shopping and finding that the thing I want isn't on their shelf"

LAURA CONNELL WITH CRIMESTOPPERS IS HERE WITH A NEW LIST OF BAD PEOPLE. Return to index of stories...

FUGITIVE FRIDAY-5 SS

Starting us off today is Phillip Barr, a man wanted in Charlotte County for the 2001 murder of 19 year old Tara Sidarovich. Barr is one of two men who detectives believe was involved in the crime. David Ray McMannis, 39, was taken into custody in Maryland earlier this week.

Barr's criminal past dates back to his teens. Committed to the Price Halfway House in Fort Myers in 1987 for a series of misdeeds including felony burglary, Barr fled the facility just after a month of being there. In May of 1988, he was located, taken into custody and charged with escape. Upon release from jail, he continued his life of crime; getting arrested several times in both Charlotte and Lee Counties. Ironically, one of these arrests was in Lee County for violating his probation just eight days after Sidarovich went missing. Bar also spent some time in state prison and earned the dubious distinction of career offender in 2009.

Now 43, Barr is thought to have left the area and has ties to Vermont and New York. However, authorities are willing to wherever they have to in order to bring Barr to justice.

Next up is Jose Gonzalez, wanted in Lee County on Fraud charges stemming from the rental of a 2012 Cadillac Escalade that was never returned. Gonzalez, 50, has racked up over $70,000 in fraud for the current charges. Currently, Gonzalez, who also goes by Jose Gonzalez-Mejias, has an active arrest warrant in Lee County and is possibly driving the stolen Cadillac. The vehicle is white and has a Tennessee license plate of D9268J. Law enforcement issued a 48 hour location request through OnStar vehicle tracking. The results were "no location" found. The tracking unit has likely been disabled and it is thought that Gonzalez is trying to elude law enforcement by traveling back and forth between Lehigh Acres and Miami.

Moving on, we come to a 51 year old man accused of molesting two young girls, who were both under the age of 10. Richard Burks has been on the run just over five years now, and is considered one of Collier County's most wanted. Burks was supposed to show up in court in December 2007 to defend himself on the molestation charges. But when his trial date arrived, Burks was nowhere to be found. Burks was originally arrested in 2006 for allegedly molesting the two young victims over the course of several years. He would have faced up to 30 years in prison if convicted of those charges, as well as an additional 15 years for other offenses. Burks was last known to be living in the Naples area - and though he's been laying low for awhile, word on the street is that he was seen fairly recently at a local strip club. Upon his arrest, Richard Burks will be held without bond.

Concluding today's list of fugitives is a man who decided to take the money and run, after his boss trusted him with a simple task of making a bank deposit. Collier County resident David Finklea lost his job, and landed in jail, after his boss gave him $12,000 in cash to deposit into the businesses bank account. But instead of making that deposit, Finklea opted to keep the cash for himself, and go on a lavish multi-day shopping spree. He eventually ditched his car in Estero, along with all of his personal identification, in hopes that he wouldn't be found. He then used the stolen cash to hitch rides with strangers, making it all the way up to Clearwater. Eight days later, guilt finally sank in, and he turned himself in to law enforcement in Sarasota - giving back the $9,000 he still had left. Finklea was arrested and later placed on probation, but now he's violated those terms. Police think he's still in town - possibly living in the Naples or Fort Myers area. SOME SCIENTISTS SAY STATEN ISLAND ORIGINALLY STARTED AS A NATURAL BARRIER

ISLAND - BUT THE CONSTRUCTION OF ROADS, PARKING LOTS, AND HOMES CREATED AN

URBAN LANDSCAPE TAKING AWAY THIS NATURAL SHIELD.

NOW TWO EUROPEAN ENGINEERING FIRMS ARE PROPOSING MASSIVE SHIELDS, LIKE THESE

WALLS AT THE HEAD OF NEW YORK HARBOR.

FLOOD PROTECTIONS THAT WERE ONCE CONSIDERED UNNECESSARY ARE NOW BEING

SOT Andrew Cuomo / NY Governor - "anyone who says there is not a dramatic

OCEANOGRAPHY PROFESSOR MALCOLM BOWMAN TOLD US BY PHONE A REDESIGN IS

CRITICAL.

SOT Malcolm Bowman / Professor, Stoney Brook University - "if we had

implemented these barriers by now there would have been no damage to New

York City from the ocean."

THE BARRIERS ARE HIGH TECH - IN ONE DESIGN A WALL LAYS FLAT AT THE BOTTOM

OF THE HARBOR - PIVOTING UP WHEN NEEDED TO BLOCK A STORM SURGE

AND THEY'VE PROVEN EFFECTIVE IN OTHER MAJOR COASTAL REGIONS LIKE LONDON AND

THE NETHERLANDSOPERATING 24 HOURS A DAY.

BUT ONE PROPOSAL FOR NEW YORK'S HARBOR RUNS UPWARDS OF 6 BILLION DOLLARSAND

SKEPTICS SAY THE MASSIVE BARRIERS MAY NOT WORK ON LONG STRETCHES OF

COASTLINE LIKE THE JERSEY SHORE

SOT Michael Bloomberg / NYC Mayor - "when you have an enormous harbor like

we do and Long Island Sound even if you spend a fortune, it is not clear to

me that you would get much value for it."

BUT WITH DAMAGE ESTIMATES FOR THIS STORM REACHING 20 BILLION MANY ARE NOW

SAYING IT'S TIME TO CONSIDER NEW IDEAS Return to index of stories...

"now I feel great. and I don't have any pain and I don't have to visit the doctor all the time."

AFTER ALL, A CORD BLOOD TREATMENT CURED MARIAM MULUMBA'S SICKLE CELL ANEMIA.

CORD BLOOD REGISTRY IS ON THE FOREFRONT OF THE FIRST F-D-A CLINICAL TRIAL OF ITS KIND INVESTIGATING WHETHER THE STEM CELLS IN CORD BLOOD MAY BE ABLE TO CURE AUTISM.

"This initial pilot study will accept 30 children who have autism not caused by a genetic factor."

THOSE CHILDREN WILL RECEIVE INFUSIONS OF THEIR OWN STEM CELLS. WHICH THEY CAN'T REJECT.

THEY WERE COLLECTED IN THEIR CORD BLOOD, BANKED WHEN THEY WERE NEWBORNS AND STORED WITH THE REGISTRY.

THE THEORY IS THE STEM CELLS PARTICIPANTS RECEIVE WILL BE ABLE TO REGULATE THEIR IMMUNE SYSTEMS AND STIMULATE NEUROLOGICAL REPAIR.

"Stem cells may have the ability to regulate the immune system or they may regulate the nervous system."

THE HOPE IS THE NEW STEM CELLS, THAT HAVE NOT BEEN EXPOSED TO INFECTION OR CHEMICALS WILL BE ABLE TO GET PATIENTS BODIES TO REV UP THEIR OWN ABILITY TO REPAIR DAMAGE. Return to index of stories...

LOOKING FOR SOMETHING TO DO WHILE YOUR POWER'S OUT?

The fridge is getting warmer and it smells like rotten cheese.

LOTS OF PEOPLE WHO ARE STUCK AT HOME WITHOUT POWER GET ON EACH OTHERS NERVES. BUT TWIN BROTHERS CHAD AND BRAD GROSSMAN DECIDED TO WRITE A SONG FOR THE OCCASION.

Like my home.

THE BOYS AND THEIR MOM ARE DOING THEIR BEST TO COPE.

It kinda stops your life. You can't move forward with your normal routines.

THEY EVEN FOUND A WAY TO MAKE SURE LILLY STAYS WARM. AND THEY FOUND SOME INGENIOUS WAYS TO SURVIVE.

Grab a towel, run it under the faucet than just stand in the shower and give it a quick rinse and your ready to go.

Basically find an outlet where you can get one, so maybe a connivence store or a fast food join and bring your charger. maybe buy a water or something like that and charge a phone.

THE BOYS SAY THEY'LL KEEP STRUMMING UNTIL THE POWER STARTS TO COMIN.

FIRST ALERT FORECAST-WXWALL

KID CRIES OVER ELECTION-VO IN PLASMA

TALKING POLITICS - SORT OF.

HAVE YOU SEEN THE 4-YEAR OLD GIRL WEEPING OVER THE PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN?

IT'S A CRYING BINGE A LOT OF PEOPLE CAN RELATE TO.

HERE'S JEANNE MOOS. Return to index of stories...

KID CRIES OVER ELECTION-PKG

--REPORTER PKG-AS FOLLOWS --

ARE YOU SUFFERING FROM ELECTION BURN-OUT?

HAS IT LEFT YOU FEELING AS CRANKY AS A 4-YEAR OLD?

"I'm tired, I'm tired of Bronco Bamma and Mitt Romney."

"That's why you're crying? Oh, it'll be over soon, Abby."

ABIGAEL EVANS HIT A NERVE. "I FEEL YA, ABBY."."SWEET BABY, I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL." ABIGAEL AND HER MOM WERE PULLING INTO THE GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT LISTENING TO NPR WHEN ABBY STARTED TO CRY.

"The election will be over soon, ok?" "Ok." "She started telling me. I was like, oh my God, I gotta film this."

AND SO ABBY'S MOM HIT "RECORD."

"A little kid saying what everybody wants to say and actually being able to cry about it."

OR, AS TIME MAGAZINE PUT IT, "WE ARE ALL ABIGAEL EVANS." THOUGH MAYBE WE COULDN'T ALL REEL OFF THE PLANETS THE WAY THIS SMART, FORT COLLINS, COLORADO KID CAN.

"Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune."

ABBY WANTS TO BE AN ASTRONAUT. SINCE THE RADIO WAS TUNED TO NPR WHEN ABBY HAD HER MELTDOWN, NPR APOLOGIZED.."DEAR LITTLE GIRL, SORRY WE MADE YOU CRY." BUT ABBY SEEMS TO BE A FAN.

"This is NPR."

THE FUNNY THING IS THAT ABIGAEL'S FAMILY DOESN'T EVEN HAVE A TV, SO ABBY HASN'T BEEN SUBJECTED.

TO ALL THOSE CAMPAIGN COMMERCIALS.

OTHER LITTLE GIRLS HAVE GONE VIRAL FOR CRYING, CRYING OVER JUSTIN BIEBER.

"Because I love Justin Bieber."

CRYING AFTER THE VIKINGS LOST TO THE PACKERS.

"Because the Packers won." "The Packers won?" "Yeah."

BUT ABIGAEL DIDN'T JUST CRY FOR ALL OF US, SHE GAVE THE PRESIDENT A NEW NAME.

"I'm tired of Bronco Bamma."

'BRONCO BAMMA' INSPIRED A T-SHIRT AND THIS MASH-UP. SO A TIP OF THE HAT TO ABIGAEL EVANS.

"It'll be over soon, Abby."

AND PLEASE, NO RECOUNT.

"The election will be over soon, ok?"
