Today's Weather Story
THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
"Southwest Florida weather at its finest"
A weak cold front brought some cloudy periods across our skies Thursday, and now that the clearing trend is well underway we're in store for a beautiful weekend. This front will not bring much of a chill, however it will keep our nights comfortably cool and our afternoons sunny and dry with low humidity.
Temperatures will start off in the low 60s this morning with a few middle and upper 50s deeper inland and across our northern communities. Patchy fog in some areas will give way to plentiful sunshine that will fill our skies through the afternoon and this will help temperatures warm into the upper 70s to lower 80s. We'll also see a nice refreshing breeze out of the northwest, which will keep the dry air in place and relative humidity levels on the comfy side.
Tonight, skies will stay clear and lows will be a touch cooler as many locations along the urban corridor will settle into the upper 50s by morning.
The weekend is shaping up beautifully with dry high pressure in control. This will keep the pleasant weather around through Sunday. Mostly sunny skies will prevail with our mornings near 60° and our afternoons in the lower 80s.
Another cold front is on the map and it's scheduled to move through Southwest Florida on Tuesday. This will bring a mix of sun and clouds to then area with more clouds than sun at times with the chance for isolated afternoon showers. In its wake, temperatures will return to the middle and upper 70s for highs and 50s for lows.

BOTH CANDIDATES LAND IN OHIO TODAY. SO FAR, HERE'S WHAT THEIR TRAVEL SCHEDULES LOOK LIKE:
GOVERNOR MITT ROMNEY VISTS SEVEN STATES INCLUDING A RALLY IN OHIO TONIGHT WITH 100 SUPPORTERS - POLITICIANS AND CELEBRITIES.
AT A RALLY IN VIRGINIA LAST NIGHT. A MAKEUP FROM BEFORE HURRICANE SANDY. HE ARGUED THE PRESIDENT'S RUNNING OUT OF STEAM:
Virginia Beach, Virginia :22-:34
"He was just the other day talking about saving characters on Sesame Street and playing word games with my name and attacking me on a regular basis - attacks that he knows aren't true."
PRESIDENT OBAMA ALSO HITS SEVEN STATES BETWEEN NOW AND ELECTION DAY - WITH A FOCUS ON OHIO, HIS "MUST-WIN" STATE.
HE'LL BE THERE EVERY DAY BETWEEN NOW AND THE ELECTION MAKING HIS CLOSING ARGUMENT. HIGHLIGHTING HIGHER HOME PRICES. AND VICTORIES OVERSEAS:
"Al Qaeda has been decimated. Osama bin Laden is dead. So we've made real progress these past four years."
THE PRESIDENT PICKED UP AN ENDORSEMENT FROM NEW YORK MAYOR MICHAEL BLOOMBERG. EARLIER THIS WEEK, BLOOMBERG SAID NEW YORK WAS TOO BUSY CLEANING UP FROM THE STORM FOR A PRESIDENTIAL VISIT. BUT IN BLOOMBERG NEWS, HE WRITES, APPLAUDING THE PRESIDENT'S RECORD ON CLIMATE CHANGE.
SO HOW WILL IT ALL SHAKE OUT ON TUESDAY?
"I think Romney has a 50-50 chance to win the popular vote. I just think it's harder to see him winning the electoral vote."
A POSSIBLE SPLIT VERDICT. FROM A NATION ALREADY DEEPLY DIVIDED.
AN ANXIOUS TO END WHAT'S BEEN A VERY LONG CAMPAIGN.

Weather Trends

A RADIATION VACATION?
BELIEVE IT OR NOT -- THAT'S HOW SOME CANCER PATIENTS ARE DESCRIBING THEIR TREATMENTS!
ONE OF THEM IS LARRY BENNETT OF NAPLES.
HE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH PROSTATE CANCER THIS YEAR -- AND DECIDED TO GET RADIATION AT THE UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA'S PROTON THERAPY INSTITUTE IN JACKSONVILLE FOR TWO MONTHS.
ACCORDING TO THE CENTER --
PROTON THERAPY IS BETTER THAN TRADITIONAL RADIATION THERAPY BECAUSE IT DELIVERS THE RADIATION RIGHT TO THE SITE OF THE TUMOR WITH MINIMAL IMPACT ON SURROUNDING ORGANS.
THAT CAN GREATLY REDUCE A PATIENT'S RECOVERY TIME AND ALLOWS THEM TO HEAL QUICKER.
