GOOD MORNING-2 SHOT

GOOD MORNING AND WELCOME TO NBC-2 NEWS TODAY.

I'M KELLY CRESWELL.

AND I'M JOE ROETZ.

TODAY IS SATURDAY, NOVEMBER THIRD.

WE'LL HAVE A LOOK AT TODAY'S TOP STORIES IN JUST A MINUTE.

BUT FIRST METEOROLOGIST JASON DUNNING HAS A LOOK AT YOUR WEEKEND FORECAST. Return to index of stories...

TODAY'S WEATHER-WX WALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

It's shaping up to be an absolutely delightful weekend across Southwest Florida.

Sunny skies, comfortable temperatures, and low humidity will headline this first weekend of November, and there's a few more surprises coming down the road as we head into next week.

First, let's focus on the weekend. Through your Saturday, we'll enjoy wall to wall sunshine. Humidity will stay low, and winds will be light out of the northeast. Temperatures will start in the upper 50s and warm into the low to mid 80s by the afternoon. By this evening temperatures will quickly drop through the 70s, and then our overnight lows will dip into the low 60s. Skies will stay nice and clear through the overnight.

Sunday will be another beauty. Highs will again climb into the low to mid 80s, and we'll be treated to more blue skies and sunshine from start to finish. Humidity will be a few notches higher but will stay very comfortable. If you're heading out to chow down at Taste of the Town, the weather looks perfect.

The sunny weather carries over into next week until we hit a little speed bump on Tuesday as the next cold front slips into Southwest Florida. We'll notice more cloud cover along with the potential for some scattered showers during the afternoon and evening. While rain chances get a little boost, the chance of getting wet will only be around 30%, so this won't be a wash out-just a few hit-or-miss showers roaming around.

After the front passes, another batch of cool, dry air will come rushing into Southwest Florida starting Wednesday. There are signs this front may actually be the strongest one so far this season, and we'll feel the difference Wednesday. Temperatures should only warm into the middle 70s despite a nice supply of sunshine, and a noticeable chill returns to the air Wednesday night as temperatures cool into the low 50s with some 40s deeper inland.

Temperatures will then begin to moderate a bit Thursday and Friday as daytime highs approach 80 degrees.

Enjoy this beautiful stretch of weather from the weekend into next week, and remember.the clocks fall back an hour tonight! Return to index of stories...

WE THINK OF SLEEP APNEA MOSTLY IN OLDER ADULTS,

BUT KIDS CAN GET IT TOO.

AND IT MAY HURT THEM IN SCHOOL, WHEN IT COMES TO ATTENTION, BEHAVIOR AND DEVELOPMENT.

THERE ARE SEVERAL OPTIONS TO TREAT APNEA IN KIDS.

AMY OSHIER RUNS THROUGH THEM IN OUR HEALTH MATTERS REPORT. Return to index of stories...

HEALTH BEAT PKG-PKG

PKG:

IT TAKES MORE THAN A BED TIME STORY TO HELP SOME KIDS GET A GOOD NIGHT'S SLEEP. IT'S ESTIMATED THREE OUT OF EVERY 100 CHILDREN SUFFER FROM SLEEP APNEA. IT CAUSES THEM TO BRIEFLY STOP BREATHING. THE PARENTS MAY REST EASY, KNOWING THEY HAVE SEVERAL OPTIONS FOR TREATMENT.

DR. JOSE COLON/SLEEP SPECIALIST

RUNS:

20:22 Sometimes taking the tonsils and adenoids is used to treat sleep apnea. Also there is some medication management with nasal steroids or leukotriene inhibitors, a medication that helps calm the upper airway inflammation.

AMY OSHIER/REPORTING

RUNS:

A child's facial structure may contribute to their apnea. In cases where there is a narrow jaw, a non-surgical treatment may help them breath easier.

DR. JOSE COLON/SLEEP SPECIALIST

RUNS:

20:22 There are dental procedures that can be done when you have your permanent teeth, called rapid palatal expansion, that does increase the diameter of your airway. 22:59 We're not pulling any teeth, we're doing is expanding our palate.

AND THERE'S ALWAYS THE C-PAP MASK MANY ADULTS WEAR TO SLEEP. IT STANDS FOR CONTINUOUS POSITIVE AIR PRESSURE. THE CONSTANT AIRFLOW KEEPS THE CHILD'S AIRWAY OPEN. QUESTION IS, WHETHER THEY'LL BE COMFORTABLE ENOUGH TO USE IT.

DR. JOSE COLON/SLEEP SPECIALIST

RUNS:

20:22 The compliance of the oral devices have been found to be higher than the compliance of CPAP, but again, that's in the right patient.

IT COMES DOWN TO FINDING THE RIGHT SOLUTION TO HELP YOUR CHILD REST EASY. FOR LEE MEMORIAL HEALTH SYSTEM, I'M AMY OSHIER. Return to index of stories...

GOOD MORNING-2 SHOT

GOOD MORNING I'M KELLY CRESWELL.

AND I'M JOE ROETZ.

TODAY IS SATURDAY, NOVEMBER THIRD.

WE'LL TAKE A LOOK AT OUR TOP STORIES IN JUST A MINUTE,

BUT FIRST HERE'S METEOROLOGIST JASON DUNNING WITH YOUR FIRST ALERT FORECAST. Return to index of stories...

FIRST WEATHER-WX CENTER

SCRIPT:

Overnight, Mitt Romney in the must-win state of Ohio -

With his wife Ann his 5 sons. his running mate-

All of whom echoed - which state could very well decide this election.

PAUL RYAN

"Ohio, you know you're the lynchpin. You're the battleground of the

battlegrounds."

Then, Ann Romney:

ANN ROMNEY

"Who's going to win next Tuesday? And is Ohio going to help us do it?

Cheers."

And then Mitt Romney himself.

ROMNEY

"Your state is the one we're counting on. This is the one we have to win."

On stage, a who's who in the Republican party - a show of force - in the

race to the finish.

Among them, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani.

Who continued with his blistering criticism of the Administration's handling

of the attack in Benghazi.

"I believe some Americans who might not have to have died may have died

because we had incompetence in the White House."

Romney himself has not mentioned the incident in Libya since the debates.

Giuliani's harsh criticism comes in stark contrast to that other image this

week - one of Romney's most prominent supporters Republican Chris Christie -

applauding President Obama's response to Hurricane Sandy.

The kind of bi-partisan image - and message - Romney is now pushing in his

closing argument.

RIGHT NOW IDA BAKER STANDOUT REGIE MEANT HAS OFFERS FROM DIVISION ONE SCHOOLS LIKE WEST VIRGINIA. MISSISSIPPI STATE AND CENTRAL FLORIDA. BUT A COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP. AND EVEN THE GAME OF FOOTBALL. HAVE AN ADDED MEANING. OUR MARK LERICOS REPORTS. Return to index of stories...

SPORTS ANCHOR 3 PACKAGE-PKG

AT 6'2.265 POUNDS. REGIE MEANT LOOKS LIKE HE WAS BORN TO PLAY FOOTBALL. BUT IN REALITY THAT SIZE KEPT HIM OUT OF FOOTBALL MOST OF HIS LIFE.

Meant - Growing up I couldn't play Pop Warner, couldn't make weight, I was too big. Got to high school, dream came true, got a chance to play.

AND NOW THE IDA BAKER DEFENSIVE TACKLE IS MAKING THE MOST OF THAT CHANCE. NOT JUST WITH HIS SIZE. BUT HIS PERSONALITY TOO.

Conn - Got the size and athletic ability, what people don't see is how great a leader he is, in the locker room, on the practice field, just really a motivator.

THANKFULLY WHEN HE MOTIVATES. IT'S IN ENGLISH. REGIE WAS BORN TO HAITIAN PARENTS. AND THE CREOLE LANGUAGE IS SPOKEN A LOT AROUND THE HOUSE.

Meant - what's mean? Go and take out the trash.

BRIDGE: WHEN HE ISN'T TAKING OUT THE TRASH, REGIE IS TAKING OUT OPPOSING QUARTERBACKS. TO THE POINT WHERE DIVISION ONE SCHOOLS ARE RECRUITING HIM. ALONG WITH A 3.0 GPA. REGIE IS PRIMED TO BECOME THE FIRST MAN IN HIS FAMILY TO GO TO COLLEGE.

Regie - It means a lot to my family. Because oldest brother dropped out, 2nd brother didn't go, going to college has made my mom very proud of me.

Conn - he's here year round, 365 days a year on this campus. I think he's gotten the most of his high school career, plans to graduate in december, and move on to a 4 year college after that.

SOUNDS LIKE A BRIGHT FUTURE. IN ANY LANGUAGE. REPORTING FOR GRIDIRON 2DAY. I'M MARK LERICOS. Return to index of stories...

FINAL WEATHER-WX WALL
