THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
Our stretch of pleasant weather continues this Monday, but a strong cool front will bring some considerable changes to Southwest Florida by Election Day.
Before we get to the big changes coming this week, let's focus on how our Monday plays out because we do expect a few changes today. First, you'll notice quite bit more cloud cover today compared to the clear blue skies we had over the weekend.
The reason why is there's a big band of clouds getting carried by the upper-level wind flow right into South Florida. Our sky shouldn't be completely clouded up, and we'll even enjoy partial sunshine. Just don't expect to see those clear blue skies again today.
Aside from the extra cloud cover, our Monday weather looks pretty nice. No rain is in the forecast, and daytime temperatures will be very comfortable with highs projected to climb into the low 80s this afternoon. Humidity will also stay at comfortable levels, and winds will be out of the northwest from 5-10 mph.
Now, on to the big changes we expect to see this week: starting Tuesday, a pretty strong cold front will start having an influence on our weather. The first phase of change comes in the form of some rain as the actual front passes through Southwest Florida. We expect some widely scattered showers and perhaps even a storm or two to move through Tuesday afternoon. Rain chances won't be too impressive, but roughly 30-40% of us will see a passing shower.
By Wednesday, another cool air mass will settle over Southwest Florida, and some forecast models point to this being the coolest air we've had around here so far this season. As the cool, dry air comes rushing in Wednesday, temperatures will struggle to warm into the mid 70s during the afternoon.
Temperatures drop even lower Wednesday night with lows expected to dip into the low 50s across the urban corridor and mid to upper 40s inland.
Daytime temps stay cool again Thursday with highs only reaching the low to mid 70s. By Friday and into the upcoming weekend, temperatures start to moderate again with highs getting back up around 80 degrees.

SAVE MONEY ON YOUR HOLIDAY SHOPPING THIS YEAR!
YOU DON'T HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL BLACK FRIDAY TO GRAB GOOD DEALS.
KATELYN SMITH REPORTS.

SEASONAL SALES ARE NO SURPRISE. IF YOU DON'T MIND THE LOOK. PUMPKIN PEEPS AND CANDY CORN STILL TASTE THE SAME IN NOVEMBER. BUT THEY WON'T TAKE AS BIG A BITE OUT OF YOUR WALLET.
"50 percent off halloween candy."
"But you can also find a great deal on this type of candy. the kind you might use for the next holiday."
"we try to run deals and sales on items that we sell a lot of like coating chocolates. people make their own candy around the holidays.and what we like to do with that is we like to offer great sales. 10, 20, 30 percent off those items."
OFFERING DISCOUNTS ON ITEMS ALREADY IN HIGH DEMAND IS A NO-BRAINER FOR A LOT OF BUSINESSES.NTAKE COOKWARE FOR EXAMPLE.
WITH THANKSGIVING COMING THIS MONTH.NSTORES KNOW YOU'RE LIKELY IN THE MARKET.NAND THEY WANT TO LURE YOU TO THEIR LOCATION.
"So I think people are always looking for sales at the holiday, and cookware is often featured in sales at that time of the year."
"these are samples from the 2012."
WEDDING DRESSES ARE THE OPPOSITE THOUGH. THEY'RE NOT ALWAYS IN HIGH DEMAND IN NOVEMBER. INSTEAD. BRIDAL SHOPS ARE BUSY GETTING READY FOR THE NEXT SEASON. WHICH MEANS THEY NEED TO MAKE ROOM. BY GETTING RID OF LAST YEAR'S LINE.
"December, product is already being received.so we want the things off our shelves by thanksgiving."
GIVING YOU UP TO 40 PERCENT OFF. OR THROWING IN EXTRA INCENTIVES LIKE DEALS ON ACCESSORIES.
THE SAME MENTALITY GOES FOR TRAVEL ALL ACROSS THE MAP. THE BEGINNING OF NOVEMBER CAN BE SLOW. SHIPPING SAVINGS YOUR WAY.
"hotels might have a lot of excess inventory so they drop the price, or a cruiseline has a lot of extra cabins and they drop the price."
AND NOW IS THE TIME TO BOOK SUMMER VACATIONS.
"The further in advance that you purchase something. the better deal that you're gonna get."
BUT IF YOU'RE STAYING HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS? NOVEMBER IS THE BEST TIME TO BUY FURNITURE.
"Everybody starts to go inside.so everybody starts to look at the interior of their house and think oh my gosh it's time for us to get a new sofa, it's time for us to get some new end tables59 it's time for us to really freshen up."
CASH DISCOUNTS. DEALS ON FINANCING. IT'S ALL ON THE TABLE. ALL MONTH LONG.

IT'S VERY COMMON.
BUT NEW RESEARCH SHOWS THOSE BINKIES CAN BE COVERED IN BACTERIA.
"The pacifier is a potential reservoir for germs that will make you sick."
DR. TOM GLASS AND COLLEAGUES AT OKLAHOMA STATE UNIVERSITY DID A SMALL STUDY OF 10 USED INFANT PACIFIERS.
THEY LOOKED CLEAN. BUT UNDER A MICROSCOPE -- THEY FOUND MICROBIAL CONTAMINATION -- MOLD AND STAPH BACTERIA.
"It may look solid in your hand, but when we look at it under the scanning electron microscope, it looks like a sponge."
NO STUDIES HAVE PROVEN THAT A DIRTY PACI CAN LEAD TO ACTUAL ILLNESS. BUT MOST EXPERTS AGREE PARENTS SHOULD REPLACE THEM AT LEAST MONTHLY -- EVEN IF THEY'RE CLEANED AND STERILIZED AFTER EVERY USE.

IT'S A LITTLE TOO LATE TO MAKE IT HAPPEN THIS ELECTION.

BUT. ESPECIALLY TO YOUNGER AMERICANS. IT'S TIME TO GO DIGITAL WITH DEMOCRACY.
"they're use to picking up their phone and voting for American Idol and they all question.'Why can't we do this for the Presidency.why can't we do this for senate races and others"
HOWEVER, CITRIX INTERNET SECURITY EXPERT KURT ROEMER. THINKS THE POSSIBILITY OF A HACKED VOTE IS KEEPING US FROM EMBRACING THE CONCEPT OF AN E-VOTE.
"Today it would be a recipe for chaos because there's way too many ways for someone to subvert the voting process"
WHILE OTHER INTERNET EXPERTS.LIKE MCAFEE'S PAT CALHOUN. ARGUE ONLINE VOTING IS ALREADY A REALITY ELSEWHERE. SO, WHY NOT HERE.
"The technology is available.it simply needs to be leveraged properly to make e-voting successful"
THAT TECHNOLOGY IS A NATIONAL, GOVERNMENT-RUN, DIGITAL I-D REQUIRED RIGHT NOW OF MEMBERS OF THE MILITARY. AND OTHER FEDERAL EMPLOYEES.
"It's essentially a digital representation of you who are and it's signed.it's validated by the government. So, it cannot be replicated.it can't be forged 0307"
BUT THAT MAY BE ITS BIGGEST HURDLE.
ANY TALK OF NATIONAL I-D'S AND PRIVACY EXPERTS USUALLY SCREAM BIG BROTHER. WHICH PROBABLY EXPLAINS THE CURRENT IMPASSE OVER E-VOTING.
"The balance at this point has really swung towards privacy and not having a national i-d"
SO, CONTINUE BANK AND BUY ONLINE.BUT FOR NOW.YOU WON'T BE VOTING THERE.
