"I would do things totally different." Thomas Boone, Sentenced to four years in prison.

DEPUTIES ARRESTED BOONE AND HIS WIFE, KIMBERLY, IN 20-10. DETECTIVES ACCUSED THE COUPLE OF LOCKING BOONE'S TEN-YEAR-OLD SON IN A ROOM FULL OF HIS OWN FECES AND URINE WITH LITTLE TO EAT.

A lot of back and forth in Lee County Commission Chambers.

51:35 - I'd like to restart the program yesterday if not sooner.

Pete Winton

36:06 - Helicopter and EMS are an animal of general fund.

01:48 - We must look at these options but I ant to know what the costs are.

Lee county commissioners trying to figure out if they want to relaunch the grounded MedStar program- or let someone else take it over.

Bigelow

50:10 We didn't terminate the program - County maagement did.

That's commissioner Brian Bigelow making a push for his plan - to relaunch MedStar.

He also wants to rehire employees let go after the helicopter was grounded - following a multimillion dollar billing scandal.

But consultants say his plan is flawed.

Chris Hanson Consultant

Your plan is saying to drop to a lower level of safety. That's what you want - it is not a good decision.

With 500 transports a year - and the county forking over roughly 75 percent of those costs- commissioner frank Mann says its worth looking at the 4 companies who want to run the program instead.

Mann

04:45 - Can save bw 3-5 million dollars - tomorrow I suggest we explore other options.

But MedStar supporters say its the wrong direction - and puts people's lives at risk.

LAST YEAR'S REVIEW -- FROM ABOUT THE SAME TIME HE ORIGINALLY WROTE THE LETTER -- INDICATES HAWES "NEEDS IMPROVEMENT."

FIRST ALERT FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

RAIN AND COOLER WEATHER ON THE WAY

What a difference twenty four hours can make. Sunday we were able to go out and enjoy the sunshine; however, Monday was the complete opposite.

Is it a sign of changes to come? Absolutely, but those changes will be short lived. We'll see the clouds for another day, and come tomorrow afternoon will add in a fleeting glimpse of rainfall.

The system that will bring us the rain is currently dropping down from Missouri. When it reaches the northern Gulf it will start to intensify, and that will cause it to swing a cold front our way. That front will serve as the focal point for rain as it passes through later in the day. Thunder will be the exception and not the rule. We expect only heavy downpours at times while the strong storms stay well to our north.

As we go into Wednesday that same system pushes east and starts riding up the Atlantic Coast. From there it looks to intensify very rapidly and that will help pull cool, comfortable air into southwest Florida.

We'll see temperatures in the 70s during the daytime, and low 50s during the morning hours. Those numbers begin to moderate on Friday as 80s return to the area.

Our skies look great after Tuesday, too. Lots of sunshine, but something interesting happens during this time of the year when cool air enters the Gulf and Atlantic waters. The cold air meets the warmer sea surface temperatures and that creates low, puffy clouds we call "stratocumulus."

Those clouds will impact Wednesday and Wednesday only. Thursday, Friday, and your weekend will be full of sunshine.

The same system that will give us our rain will continue to cruise up the east coast this week. It'll continue to strengthen, and on Thursday, sadly, it'll impact the Mid-Atlantic and New England area. That's the same region hit hard by Hurricane Sandy. Thankfully this system will not even compare to Sandy, but will add insult to injury.

They're going to see winds sustained of 25 to 35 MPH with gusts up to 50. Heavy rains will be an issue so coastal and inland flooding is a hazard, too. Along with that cold air on the backside is the perfect ingredient for heavy, wet snow.

Thus, adding insult to injury.

Make sure your family and friends back in the Northeast are away of this possible Nor'easter. Return to index of stories...

SANDY~BY THE NUMBERS-OC-VIDBX RVL

HURRICANE SANDY DEVASTATED PARTS OF NEW YORK AND NEW JERSEY ONE WEEK AGO TODAY.

ANNETTE KNIOLA TOOK US BACK TO THE SPOT WHERE SHE FOUND A PANTHER KITTEN--

DEAD ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD.

"It was just like wow, it was very foggy so it was just a glimpse of something on the road."

KNIOLA WAS DRIVING DOWN 18TH AVENUE NORTHEAST IN GOLDEN GATE ESTATES EARLY SUNDAY MORNING-- WHEN SHE SPOTTED SOMETHING.

"We quickly turned around and we looked and it was a baby panther, it was very sad."

THE FOUR MONTH OLD FEMALE KITTEN HAD BEEN HIT BY A CAR.

"I didn't want to leave her on the road, somebody would end up running over her."

KNIOLA PUT THE PANTHER IN THE BACK OF HER CAR AND TOOK IT HOME-- CALLING F-W-C OFFICIALS TO LET THEM KNOW.

FRIDGE OPENING, PLASTIC NOISE

BIOLOGISTS PICKED UP THE KITTEN AND ARE PRESERVING IT, UNTIL THEY CAN GET IT TO GAINSVILLE FOR A NECROPSY.

55:29 terrible 33 it seems like every week a panther is dying 36

SO FAR THIS YEAR WE'VE HAD 20 PANTHER DEATHS IN SOUTHWEST FLORIDA-- WHICH IS AVERAGE.

BUT THE NUMBER OF KITTEN DEATHS HAS GONE UP.

IN 2011-- SEVEN KITTENS WERE KILLED, ONLY TWO BY TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS.

THIS YEAR, NINE PANTHER KITTENS HAVE DIED, MORE THAN HALF WERE KILLED ON THE ROAD.

"Road kill mortality is one of leading cause of death to panthers."

FWC BIOLOGISTS DONT KNOW THE REASON FOR THE INCREASE.PERHAPS BECAUSE THE PANTHER POPULATION HAS GONE UP.

THEY DO WANT YOU TO KNOW WHAT TO DO IF YOU FIND A DEAD PANTHER.

"Florida panthers are an endangered species and technically it's illegal to touch them and remove them from site."

WHILE WELL-INTENTIONED, WILDLIFE OFFICIALS SAY WHAT KNIOLA SHOULD HAVE DONE IS PULL OVER, CALL F-W-C AND WAIT.

SHE WON'T BE CHARGED FOR THE ILLEGAL PANTHER PICK-UP, BECAUSE THERE WAS NO CRIMINAL INTENT.

57:16 the first thing they said is you're not in trouble. And I said well I hope not 21
