Today's Weather Story
THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
After a lengthy stretch of rain-free weather, showers return to our forecast this Election Day as a fairly strong cool front moves down the Florida peninsula.
Most of us won't see the rain until this afternoon, so if you're heading out to cast your ballot this morning, weather won't be an issue. We'll start things off this morning with temperatures in the upper 60s along with a mix of sun and clouds.
By around noon today, scattered rain will start moving into northern parts of the viewing area. Places like Rotonda, Port Charlotte, and Punta Gorda will see their best chance for rain during the early afternoon as the front sags into Charlotte County first.
Scattered showers will then start advancing through Lee, Glades, and Hendry County by the middle of the afternoon, so for places like Cape Coral, Fort Myers, Lehigh Acres, Sanibel, and LaBelle, we'll likely see our best chance of rain from 2-4 p.m.
Finally, the front will make it into Collier County by the late afternoon and evening, so scattered showers will be possible near Naples, Marco Island, and Golden Gate from the 4-8 p.m. time frame.
Even with rain back in the forecast today, we don't expect the rain too last long or become too widespread. In fact, most of today will be completely dry, but just prepare for the possibility of a passing shower during the afternoon or evening.
By 8 p.m. tonight, most of the rain will be south of us, and that's when the cool air will start flowing in. Wednesday will be noticeably cooler with highs only reaching the mid 70s. The humidity will also be lower, making the air feel crisp and drier. One thing we'll be watching for Wednesday is the potential for more cloud cover moving in off the gulf, but we should at least be treated to partial sunshine.
With the cool air mass moving in, we'll notice a chill in the air Thursday and Friday morning. Lows will get down to the mid 50s early Thursday, and by early Friday, our temperatures will likely start in the low 50s with some 40s possible deeper inland.
In addition to the cool down, we'll be in store for beautiful, sunny weather, lasting all the way through the upcoming weekend.

Weather Trends
THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.After a lengthy stretch of rain-free weather, showers return to our forecast this Election Day as a fairly strong cool front moves down the Florida peninsula.
